More questions from Facebook

1. What's your favorite movie from your childhood and why?  The Wizard of Oz was such a favorite that I stayed home from a birthday party once because it was on TV.  I remember the first time I saw it in color, on my friend's new color TV.  When that door opened in Oz... oh my goodness!

2. What is home to you?  Wherever my loved ones are!

3. Do you get emotionally invested in stories? (I'm asking about movies, books, tv shows, whatever medium you like your stories in.)  Yes, I do!  That's why I like books with sequels and marathon-watch TV shows.

4. What is the most physical damage you've ever received without needing medical intervention (so no stitches or splints or anything)?  Probably a sprained ankle.  I really can't think of anything else that didn't require medical attention.

5. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?  Who knows?!

6. Do you have any obsessions? Like Tv shows, or cats or something. Not addictions.  I love cats but I don't think I'm obsessed. I watch way too much TV but I'm not obsessed or addicted.

7. What question or questions would you like God to answer?  I think He has already answered it.  We know when the hate and violence and hurt will end.  It's coming... read Revelations.

8. Do you bite your nails?  No. Never have.

9. What do you like about the place you live, I mean your housing, apt, house, mobile home, etc.  We are so happy in our retirement community and our home is perfect for us.  We have wonderful neighbors and a very caring community here.

10. What do you like about the city or town where you live?  I have written many times about our beautiful Lakeland, FL.  It is a medium-sized city with small-town vibes.  You can check it out...

11. Is there one place you have visited that you wish you could live there?  We did it. We were here on vacation and bought a house. Seriously. Three months later, our house was sold in Virginia and we were Lakeland residents!  That was 31 years ago next week, actually!

12. What's your favorite cookie to snack on?  Chocolate chip!  I also love sugar cookies!  Oh, there are those yummy round cookies covered in powdered sugar...

13. Are you an Apple person or PC type person and why?  I am a PC person just because that's all I have ever used.  I have no interest in Apple products.

14. What are your favorite things about the Zoo?  I haven't been to a zoo in a long, long time but I do love animals and seeing them up close and personal.  They actually make me a little sad too, even though I know zoos are helping keep certain species alive and well that would be lost to us in the wild.

15. Did you grow up in the country, city or small town and what did you like about it (or hate about it if you didn’t like it?)  I grew up in a small, country town and wish everyone could have the childhood I did.  There are still less than 1,200 people living there.  It was one of those places where everyone knew everyone.  You could leave the keys in the car and the front door unlocked.  Neighbors helped neighbors.  I  wouldn't trade it for anything.

16. What kinds of things were you into and did when you were growing up?  I loved marching band; I had fun on the Yearbook Staff; I loved art class; I loved reading a book up in the maple tree in our back yard; I loved making no-bake chocolate cookies with my BFF Elaine; I liked hiking through the woods and pretending to be Nancy Drew; I loved ice skating on the lake in the winter...

17. Do you enjoy receiving letters or postcards more, and why?  I do enjoy them both but rarely receive either.  It is just faster and easier to e-mail or text these days. I've gotten lazy about writing a real letter. Shame on me. It will be a lost art one day soon.

18. Do or did you know any of your great-grandparents? Tell me about them.  I did know my great-grandma Swiss.  I was around five or so when she died but I have memories of her in a rocking chair at my granny's house and she made string balls.

19. Do you like to be outdoors? What is your favorite thing to do there?  I like the outdoors when it is cooler, less humid, and there is a slight breeze.  I am happy just sitting outside with a cold drink and talking with friends.  It has been a long time since I wanted to hike or walk very far. Hoping that changes with both knees replaced now!!

20. Have you ever broken a bone or been badly injured?  Yep.  I broke my humorous when I was 13 years old, trying to stand on my hands for gym class.  I cut my hand and got 11 stitches, also when I was 13 (not a good year for me!).  I fractured my left wrist in seven places when I slipped and tried to catch myself - in my 30s.  I was in a car accident that gave me some horrid whip-lash.  But all healed up and trying to be much, much more careful in my old age!

That was a lot of questions!!  Off to church this morning and feeling blessed by that!
Peace & hugs!  God bless!!

  1. You did great on all those questions! Wow...you have had a few mishaps in your younger years. Yes, we have to be very careful now that we are "older" and more fragile. I do hope you will feel up to doing more walking now that you have your new knees. That is the one exercise that we do every day, and I enjoy it so much. We don't go very far, but enough to get us up off the recliners and out in the fresh air for a while! I like that most of all! yes, small town living is the life for me. We are very thankful for our new little community. Of course, it helps that our kids live here and we love our little church. Otherwise we probably wouldn't have moved here, but God led us to it and we are so thankful. Have a wonderful Sunday. We will be off to church in a little while too. Praise God!!

  3. My Doctor talked me into getting a "Cubi" exercise stepper that one sits down and pedals along. Haven't been able to exercise with everything shut down, and this has been wonderful.. no stress or pain in legs knees or feet. Highly recommend.

  6. Terri, I love the small town I grew up in and I pray those in office don't ruin it for the rest of us. LOL Yes, I actually do pray that. Seems any more those in office just want to get in the books for something other than keeping our town clean and community. Blessings , stay cool, xoxo, Susie

  8. Oh my gosh ... 13 was definitely not a good year for young Terri! I sure remember the first time I watched Wizard in color ... thrilling. #3? Yep! If I can't connect/empathize on some level with the character(s) I won't keep reading. Happy Sunday, my friend!
