Gosh, I wish I had some exciting news to share from a wild and crazy weekend, but once again, all we did was hang out at home. Joe still has a couple of tax returns to finish and I did laundry on Saturday. We went to church on Sunday morning and it was communion Sunday so that was a plus to eat at our Lord's table.
My sister's ankle surgery is this morning so lift a prayer for her if you would.
I did receive, in the mail, a disc with my Xrays on it. Our nephew is in the artificial joint business and he always asks me to send him my Xrays, so I sign the request form and then forward copies to him when they come. He said my Xrays look perfect... just the way they should look so that made me happy. Of course, that is what my doctor said too but it's nice to hear it from Sean as well.
This is what I call my matching set!!
And this is the side view of my brand new knee.
Sean is most interested because my doctor is the one who actually designed this hardware and it isn't being used widely yet. Sean had been at a seminar led by (my) Dr. Bernasek and just wanted to see my results. It is called Attune (here is a link to more information). It is designed to last 20-30 years instead of the usual 10-15. It is also designed for use in heavier people (like me) and won't wear down as fast as some other replacements. They don't cement them in but are made for my own bone to grow into them. I am happy with them so far. Complete healing is 18 months so I still have six months to go on my right knee and another 15 months on the left. That is also why they told me to not do any heavy strength training for another month or so. I feel blessed that Sean recommended Dr. Bernasek to me and that the designer himself did my surgery. Dr. Bernasek is at the Florida Orthopedic Institute, in Tampa.
That's all I have from another ho-hum weekend.
Thanks for checking in!!
Peace & hugs! God bless!!

How nice that you have nephew in the biz. I'm glad your knees are both doing well. They look good in the x-rays. lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
What a blessing that both knees are doing so well, Terri! Nice to have that confirmation from your nephew, too. And sometimes it's good to have those lazy weekends just to unwind and relax.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
It was neat to see your knees as I know what you have been through and having a nephew that knows even more, helps. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteGlad everything is looking good with your knees. Interesting info about the new method of replacement. I'll file that away for the day down the road I need a knee (I know it'll happen one day). Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty convinced quiet weekends are not a bad thing at all. I am saying a prayer for your sister.
ReplyDeleteOh a knee that lasts that long is wonderful. Thanks for sharing that information Terri.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope by this time you've had good news from your sister! Those x-rays are fascinating; how blessed your nephew pointed you in the direction of Dr. Bernasek; and now you're doing so well. When Tom had his hip replacement I remember the nurses saying a knee surgery was much tougher to get past.
ReplyDeleteI did have good news from my sister Patti that Tammy came through the surgery just fine and is already at home. They did a block rather than general anesthesia so that is a little easier to come out of (at least until the block wears off and the pain sets in). They told her she could drive in two days!! Bruce's daughter is staying the night with them. Thanks for asking!
DeleteI mean, you dont get better looking knees than that!!! You worked hard for those perfect knees!
ReplyDeleteThose are good looking knees! I like the way they work, and how great to have the Dr that designed them. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is amazing seeing your knees like that! So neat!! Glad to hear they will last such a long time! Hopefully you won't have to do that again if you behave and don't wear them out too quickly! LOL. Glad to see above that your sister came through her surgery okay. That is always good news! Have a blessed week!!
ReplyDeleteThat is SO interesting, Terri! If I ever need a knee replacement I will be coming to Florida for my surgery, lol!
