Whimsical Fashion Review 2022...

There isn't a linky and there aren't any rules.
Check out the dress and decide which purse you like best for our model's event.
It is all in fun and just a whimsical thing!
Photos from The Storybook of Dreams & Beauty.

One of my followers (you know who you are!) requested a dress for a more mature woman.  I found this lovely frock that would make a nice mother-of-the-bride (or groom) dress!  Which purse should she carry?  Count down 1-2-3 and let us know which one you like and why!

My thoughts:  This really is a very pretty dress and is sure one I would try on if I had a special place to wear it.  As for the purses, I'll pick #1 to match but I really like #3 best!!  What are your thoughts?

Peace & hugs!

A Hodgepodge from June 2014...

Our hostess, Joyce, is taking the week off... something about her new grandson and the other two little men who came to visit.  You can't blame her!! So exciting and so fun!!  When Joyce takes a week off, I go back in time for an old Hodgepodge.  Kinda fun to look back...  I didn't change anything.

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 179

Welcome to another summertime edition of the Wednesday Hodgepodge! Answer the questions on your own blog, then hop back HERE tomorrow to link up with all your friends and neighbors. See you there!

1. What summer activity most takes you back to your own childhood?
  • A pontoon boat ride on Buckeye Lake, and the swimming pool (chlorine smells)
2. What's your favorite summer smell?
  • Since it is always summer in Florida, and I've been here 25 years, that's a hard one to answer. I'll say steak or burgers, cooking on the grill (but we can grill all year).
3. It's beach season in the US of A...so how do you feel about sand?
  • See my answer to #2, since it is always beach season here, too. I love the white powder sand on the Gulf coast much better than the brown pebble-like sand on the Atlantic side. We don't go to the Atlantic beaches. We are two hours from the Atlantic beaches and one hour from the Gulf beaches.
4. Sun tea, SunChips, sunflower seeds, Capri Sun, Sunny Delight, Sun-Maid raisins, sun-dried tomatoes...your favorite food or beverage with sun in its name?
  • Of that list, I'll go with sun-dried tomatoes. I don't make sun tea anymore, don't care for raisins, and why have Sunny Delight when you can have real orange juice? Sunflower seeds... I don't go out of my way for them.
5. What's your favorite way to cool off on a hot summer day?
  • Stay inside, where it is air-conditioned!! We also have a pool, so swimming is easy for us to do.
6. Share a favorite song with the word sun or sunshine in its title.  John Denver, of course....

7. Tell us about a time you had an exceedingly good or truly awful customer service experience. If it was awful, did you report it? Ever go back there again?
  • You know, I really can't think of a truly awful customer service experience. If I had one, you can bet I would report it. Guess I'm lucky. I get good service most of the time, I think. I am quick to be polite and try to respect the person who is serving me. I say please and thank you and smile. I feel bad for those who have to serve us and put up with nasty people. I always try to be nice.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
  • Good golly, my random thoughts are all over the place. Our oldest son called last night. Their offer was accepted on the house they want, in Brunswick, Georgia, and they are waiting on the appraisal. Hope it all goes okay. He comes down at the end of the week, to start work on the 30th. Hoping he can come down to our house for the 4th of July. Maybe Lauren and Tristan can drive up. That would be fun! You know I'll keep you posted!
Thanks to Joyce for another great Hodgepodge! Thanks to you for stopping by. I enjoy your comments! Happy Wednesday! Blessings!

----------------------------------------------------------

My dinner last night, for my church community group, went well.  Everyone liked all the food and a few took leftovers with them.  We are still working through The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.  It is always good fellowship and we always end with prayer.

Peace & hugs!!  God is so good!!

A Nostalgic Tuesday 4...

Thanks to Annie for continuing the Tuesday 4.  You can join in HERE.

Looking back...

Hello friends and once again welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.   I am so happy to have people joining in and making this so much fun.

I am listening to a nostalgic music channel right now with songs of the 40s and it made me think that perhaps we could discuss some
nostalgia here.  I hope you will enjoy thinking about these questions this week.

1. What music were your parents listening to when you were a kid?  Does that music bring back memories for you?  It was the music of the 50s.  I remember Mom singing with the radio while she worked in the kitchen.  Blueberry Hill comes to mind.  Big bands, too. Mom loved Harry James!! (She played trumpet in the high school band.)

2. What was your favorite meal and beverage as a teenager?  Is it still or have things changed for you?  None of us were (or are) picky eaters.  Mom canned from our BIG garden and we enjoyed fresh veggies in season. I loved broccoli and cauliflower with cheese sauce.  I loved my mom's homemade noodles and her vegetable soup. I am still not a picky eater and sure would love mom singing and cooking in the kitchen again. Lost her too soon. She was just 65.

3. As a teen did you live in a city, country, or small town?  What was it like for you there?   Tell us about your hometown, please?  I have written about this before but my hometown is Millersport, Ohio.  It is at the western end of Buckeye Lake, smack dab in the middle of Ohio (30 miles east of Columbus) (corn and pig country). There are still just over 1,000 people living in Millersport. I loved growing up in a small mid-western farming town! There were only 47 in my senior class but we had a great football team and marching band! In my sophomore year, the football team won all 10 of their games and was unscored on. Our band won first place at every contest we marched in and even won best overall (including the BIG schools) at one contest. We were quite proud that year!

High School classmates I met up with back in 2017 at Weldon's Ice Cream Factory.  We are all still in touch, except Mike died of a heart attack a few months after this picture was taken.  He was married to Wanda (next to him).  Mary (center and dark hair) lives in California with her hubby and kids/grands.  Norma and Patti are both still in Millersport, also married with kids and grands.

Weldon's is across the street from the Millersport Marina.  I worked there two summers during high school.

This is the house my BFF Elaine lived in, across the street from my house.

This is me with Elaine's mom, Jerri, that same year (2017) Joe and I went 'back home'. Jerri just turned 91 and she is living in a retirement home now. We are Facebook Friends!!  She is my other mother and calls me her fourth daughter.

  • This is the house I grew up in.
  • One block from the school.

Millersport Marching Lakers!!  I loved marching band.
(Concert band, not as much.)

4. Would you like to live in your hometown today? Why or why not?  I have no plans to move back to snow and ice in the winters.  I have been in Florida for 33 years.  This is home now.  I do enjoy going back now and then (in the summer), though.

Peace & hugs!
Jesus loves us, this I know!!

Weekend Recap on Monday...

There isn't much to report because it's been a very quiet weekend.

It did little to nothing on Saturday.  A lazy day.

Sunday, after church, I did a bit of shifting around the furniture to make
room for 14 guests on Tuesday evening.
My small group from church meets here this week.

I made pork chops and corn-on-the-cob for my dinner.  It was good!

I started watching the PBS series, Endeavour again, from the first season.
I'm into season two already!  Good detective mysteries.

I started a fun series of books on my Kindle.

I just started the second book.  There are ten, I think.  Easy reads, fun
characters (including a guardian spirit named Colleen).

I got Vinny a new scratching pad (with cat nip) and he took right to it!

That's all I have!!
Have a blessed week ahead!
God's love is steadfast and unchanging!!

Sunday Thoughts...

I wasn't feeling the Sunday Stealing meme today so will just offer those words of thanksgiving!  My arm is sore from the booster shot but I have no other problems from it, thank God!  I used my sore arm as my excuse for just being lazy all weekend.  I did work on a few projects but haven't gotten much accomplished.  I am sure enjoying fresh sweet corn, however!!  Four ears for $2.00 at Publix and they are delicious!! Had two yesterday and will have two more today!! Yum!

I need to get some cleaning done after church today and my usual two loads of laundry.  I have my church community group here Tuesday night.  I'm making sloppy joes, pasta salad, baked beans, and will have watermelon.  Hoping someone will volunteer to bring dessert.

Peace & hugs!
Trust and obey!!

Saturday 9 Time...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in HERE.

Better Now

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

Saturday 9: Better Now (2018)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this song, Post Malone tries to assure his ex that he's better now ... but he's not. He's still hurting. Have you recently told someone you were fine when you weren't? No.  Praise God I am usually "fine" with no complaints.

2) He and his girl were so close he introduced her to his extended family, and now his aunts and uncles wonder where she's gone. Have you remained close to an ex's friends/family?  No.  But I did miss my ex-in-laws more than I missed him.  They are both gone now.

3) He sings that he never meant to let her down. What about you? Have you recently encountered anything -- big or small -- that didn't live up to your expectations?  I try not to have high expectations anymore.  Life is easier that way, I think.  When something amazing happens, it is that much sweeter!!

4) Post recently announced he will soon become a father for the first time. Do you know anyone who is currently expecting a baby?  No.  All of the expected babies have been born in the realm of my world.

5) Before making it big as a musician, he supported himself as a wedding DJ. Think back to the last wedding you attended. Did they have a live band or a DJ?  It's been a while, but there was a live band.

6) Not satisfied being a successful musician, Post has branched out and introduced his own rose wine, Maison No. 9. Will you replenish your beer/wine/spirits this weekend? Nope.  My wine rack is only down one bottle and there is still beer in the fridge.

7) Post Malone has more than 70 different tattoos. He designs them and is so into ink that he has tattooed his friends. Would you trust a friend or relative to do your body art (tattoo or piercing)? Or would you go to a licensed professional?  I would go to a professional.

8) In 2018, when this song was popular, Sears filed for bankruptcy. In the 1970s, Sears was known as the place "Where America Shops." As of 2021, there were only 23 Sears stores left. Did you ever shop at Sears, either at the store or through the catalog?  Yes to both and I miss Sears.  I thought it was gone and had no idea there were still some open.  You can't beat their appliances and tools.

9) Random question: What's your favorite way to spend an evening at home alone?  In my recliner (happy place) with my laptop on my lap and the TV tuned to a series or a movie.  It is how I spend most evenings and I am content.

I got my Moderna booster at Publix yesterday.  Just have a bit of a sore arm.  Blessed!

Peace & hugs!

the strength of his might." Ephesians 6:10

Friday Fotos...

Once again, I only have a couple of photos from this week.  It is too hot to be out and about and my schedule has been an easy one.

On Wednesday, I stopped to see Helen. She was in the TV room for a change.  She was talkative but, as usual, her words came out jumbled and rarely made sense.  She mentioned that her grandmother lives there someplace.  She talked about Al (her husband) and wasn't sure where he was.  The aids needed to change her so we went to her room to take care of that.  Another aid wanted to get her a shower and see if she wanted a nap, so I said goodbye.  I kissed her head and told her I loved her.  She said "love you too" and off I went.  That always feels good when she seems to understand and knows who I am.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that my boss gave me a Hurricane Lily plant.  I am not a plant person so I asked my neighbor, Susan if she wanted to plant it in her bed.  There it is (in the middle) and seems to be doing fine.  She also took the miniature sunflower sprouts and planted them.  No photo of them yet.

Poor Vinny is sulking around and still goes looking for Lilly.  I inquired about the cat my friend, Jann, mentioned on Facebook.  I will need to meet him and learn about his health, etc., and also try the two of them together.  I just feel so bad for Vinny being so lonely.  We'll see.

I had dinner last night at our little Italian restaurant, Il Forno.  My friend, Shirley, joined Tim & Judy and Larry & Sharon.  It was delicious and enjoyable.  Today, after work, I have my appointment for my 2nd booster.  No plans for the weekend so I can lay low if necessary.  Thanks for your visit!!

God is so good!

Whimsical Fashion Review 2022...

There isn't a linky and there aren't any rules.
Check out the dress and pick the shoes you like best for the bride.
It is all in fun and just a whimsical thing.
Photos are from the Storybook of Dreams & Beauty.

It's still June so it's still wedding season (too hot here, though!).  I thought this gown, though not my personal style, is different so worth a look here!  Count down on the shoes 1-2-3 and tell us which ones you like best for the bride.

My thoughts:  This gown is a lovely classic style and just a little different with the sheer shrug.  It is not a style I could ever wear but still beautiful.  As for the shoes... I'll go with #3 and still wonder how anyone can walk in them!!  What are your thoughts?

Peace & hugs!

  1. Jesus is all the world to me,
    My life, my joy, my all;
He is my strength from day to day,
    Without Him I would fall.
When I am sad, to Him I go,
    No other one can cheer me so;
When I am sad, He makes me glad,
    He’s my Friend.

The Wednesday Hodgepodge in the Heat...

Thanks to our amazing Hodgepodge Hostess, Joyce!  You can be a Hodgepodger HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 467

From this Side of the Pond

1. Something you learned from your father?  He taught me to drive and my family will tell you that I still channel him when I'm behind the wheel. (And that isn't necessarily a good thing... think patience!)

2. Do you like onions?  I love onions.  Raw or cooked?  Yes!  How about onion rings?  Yes!  What's something you love to eat that calls for onions?   I love onions on burgers, hotdogs, in meatloaf, on pizza, on almost any sandwich (even tuna... try it!).  Barb, from Sweet Tea & Sandals, turned me on to pickled onions. Oh my gosh, they are so good and easy to make!

3. It's officially summer (in the Northern hemisphere)...your favorite and least favorite things about the season?  My favorite is longer days; my least favorite is hurricanes and humidity.

4. When you think about the summers of your childhood what are two or three things that come to mind?  School is out!!  Barefoot days outside with friends!! In high school, I actually looked forward to band camp before school started again.

5.  A hot mess, the heat of the moment, beat the heat, if you can't stand the heat, catch heat, in a dead heat...choose a 'hot 'phrase and tell us how it applies to your life right now.  In central Florida, it is beat the heat (by staying inside!).

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Still on my mind.  I know I did the right thing by letting Lilly go but Vinny is really having a hard time without her. They were buds and he is still looking for her.  I want to give him a couple of weeks to start feeling spoiled and pampered and hope he adjusts because I really don't want another cat... but I would consider it for him.  Time will tell.  Thanks to everyone for your sweet words and compassion.

Peace & hugs!
Our God is Amazing!

Welcome back to the "I refuse to auto-post" Tuesday 4 by Toni Taddeo, enhanced by complication from Blogger.
Yes, folks, it did it yet again. But, better late than never some say so here we go with this week's questions.    I hope you enjoy them.

1. Do you have a set bedtime that you stick to?  On work nights, yes. I'm in bed by 9-9:30.

2. What kind of sleep attire do you prefer and why is that?  Nightshirts or PJs (tank with shorts).

3. Do you have a nighttime routine before bed?   Wash.. brush teeth.. snack?  Brush my teeth, take my pills, tell Alexa to play my ocean sounds, play one solitaire game on my Kindle Fire and then read a chapter or two in my book.

4. Quilts? Coverlet? Fluffy comforters? Woolen blankets? What do you need to sleep comfortably?  This is Florida!  The ceiling fan is on and the covers are usually thrown off.

Monday's Weekend Recap...

Most of you are Facebook friends with me so you know that I had to say goodbye to my sweet Lilly kitty yesterday.  It was a very sad weekend for me.  I know she was just a cat but I lost Lucy just six months ago, and now Lilly.  Vinny (below) and I are missing them both.  It's just two of us now.

I did have a nice ride on the Tenoroc property last Friday with co-worker Paolo.  Took a few photos while he talked with some of the fishermen and was checking a couple of the aerators.

I did some laundry and not much else. On to another week.

Peace & hugs!

Saturday 9...

A big thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Yesterday

Welcome to Saturday 9. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Yesterday (1965)

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

Chosen because June 18 is Paul McCartney's 80th birthday.

1) Paul McCartney sings that yesterday all his troubles seemed so far away. Can you recall a time when your life seemed carefree?  Barely!  LOL

2) He has always insisted the melody to "Yesterday" came to him in a dream. Did you dream last night?  I know I dream now and then but rarely remember what the dream was about.

3) The lyrics were inspired, in part, by the death of Paul's mother when he was 14. Thirteen years later, he named his daughter Mary after her. Are you named after anyone? If you're a parent, did you name your children in honor of anyone?  My middle name, Lee, is after my great-grandma, Verda Lee.

4) Over the years, Paul has performed on bass, acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, and drums, but not the first instrument he owned: the trumpet. A present from his dad for his 14th birthday, he exchanged the trumpet for a guitar because "you can't sing while playing the trumpet." Have you more recently a) exchanged a gift, b) donated a gift you didn't want to charity, or c) regifted?  Well, my sweet daughter-in-law/love, Darlene, gave me her mom's adult tricycle, after her mom passed away.  I rode it once since bringing it home last year.  The tires went flat in the carport where I had it chained to the back-door banister.  My friend, Theresa, just had breast cancer surgery and she will begin a 5-year regimen on a pill that will cause weight gain.  She was looking for a bike.  I called Darlene to make sure she was okay with me passing the bike along to someone who needs it and will use it.  She said of course.

5) Paul grew up seeing how much his dad enjoyed placing a bet and then listening to the horse race from his favorite armchair in the living room, so he took his salary from making the film A Hard Day's Night and surprised his father with a racehorse. After father and son proudly watched Drake's Drum win at Liverpool's Aintree Racecourse, the horse retired to Paul's farm in Scotland. If money were no object, what gift would you give a loved one?  Good golly, I have no idea. I guess I would ask some questions first. Pay off homes, new cars, updates where needed, donate to church and charities...

6) Paul is considered one of the world's wealthiest entertainers, worth an estimated $1.2 billion. This month, as he approaches his 80th birthday, he is winding up a 16-city North American tour, during which he performs 30+ songs in a 2-hour, 40-minute show. If you had all the money you needed, would you continue to work?  Heck, no!  Or would you kick back and relax?  Kick back, relax, travel, help people...

7) Paul first joined the Beatles when he was recruited into the band by John Lennon. They met as teenagers when Paul showed up at a church picnic where John's band was performing. Paul recalls pedaling over on his bike to hear them, his guitar flung over his back. When did you most recently ride a bike?  See above... over a year ago.

8) Paul met his first wife, Linda, at a London club and then again four days later when she was a photographer at a press party for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band. Think about one of your romances. Where did you meet?  I met Joe in a restaurant/bar on a Monday night.  August 3, 1983.

9) TV journalist Barbara Walters played matchmaker for Paul and his current wife, Nancy. During the summer of 2007, when Paul was vacationing in The Hamptons, Barbara repeatedly and intentionally invited them to the same parties and picnics. Have you had any success in a matchmaking scenario -- as either the matchmaker or one of the dates?  Nope.

==================

Happy Father's Day to all the dads and anyone who wears those shoes!

Peace & hugs!
