Tuesday Tidbits....

I'm not sure I have any tidbits to share.  We really did nothing the entire weekend.  I am still coughing and blowing and can't taste or smell (yikes!!).  Yesterday we got out and stopped at Publix for a few things. I got in the pool for about 10 minutes on Sunday, mainly to be able to say I have been in the pool.  Haven't felt like doing more than that.

Back to work today.  It won't be fun, but I need to get my hind end moving again!!

That's really all I have!  Oh, our son Joey and DIL Darlene bought a Kia Sedona!  They texted a couple of photos!  Happy for them.  The van they traded in was about 18 years old.

Now, that's it.  Thanks for peeking in!!  Happy last day of May!  Hard to believe!  Peace & hugs!

Sunday Stealing.....

Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter Meme

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from. We also provide a link to the victim's meme in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from this new meme or recently asked questions from a previously featured meme.
Cheers to all of us thieves!!!

The Star Spangled Banner

Memorial Day is a federal holiday designated to honor American service people who died in battle.

The Star Spangled Banner, as sung by Whitney Houston.

2) Memorial Day kicks off the summer season. What's your favorite picnic food?  Just one?  Burgers, potato salad, watermelon, corn-0n-the-cob.....

4) This marks the weekend when Americans step up their outdoor activity and do things they may not have been able to do during the winter months. For example, when is the last time you rode a bike?  Probably 40 years ago.

5) Or went hiking?  Probably eight years ago.

6) Or rode a horse?  About four years ago.

7) Or toasted a marshmallow?   Maybe 50 years ago.

8) As you answer these questions, is there an air conditioner or fan on?  Yes, the AC is on.

9) Crazy Sam needs your help: What song or a performer would you like to see featured in a Saturday 9 this summer?  Herb Alpert or Chris Botti (I'm partial to trumpet players!)  You'll begin seeing your suggestions as Saturday 9 themes in mid-June. Thanks!

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend.

I took yesterday off from work because I am still coughing and blowing. Each day gets a little better and being able to sleep through the night really helps.  Hopefully having a nice long weekend will help me get over this stupid cold and I'll be ready for work on Tuesday.

My BFF Elaine and her husband, Jim, started a garden project at their church to help feed those in need.  Their local newspaper featured them in an article!!  Here is the link if you would like to read about this gardening movement that is catching on all over.....

Friday Foto Friends....

Joining Friday Foto Friends today!  Click HERE to link up with Breathing In Grace, and join in!

After posting so many photos these past few days, I only have one to share today. On the way home from Ohio, we stopped for some gasoline and found this woman selling Vidalia Onions and Georgia Peaches.  We bought the onions but the peaches were tiny and didn't look that good. It is very early in the season.  I thought the cow was pretty special and was sure an attraction, making it a good place for her to sell her products!

Thanks for your visit!  It's a nice long weekend coming!!  Peace & hugs.

Thankful Thursday and Wedding Recap....

The thankful part of this post has to do with our safe travels and that the wedding was absolutely perfect! Praise God.

We had such a good time catching up with family and friends. We traveled north last Wednesday and Thursday, then spent the day Friday with my grandmother. She is doing well in the nursing home, as I posted about last week.  I have a few more photos to share from Friday.

The Sign in front of the building. Pristine Senior Living and Rehab.

The front of the building with a banner showing a Five Star Rating.

One side of the "front room" lobby.

The other side where there is also a piano that was being played by a resident.

Grandma with her brother Jim and his wife Jane. They take such good care of her!

Grandma's hands...she had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, but it isn't that at all. The disfiguration was actually caused by GOUT.  Undiagnosed gout. What a shame. It could have been caught early and she wouldn't have been in so much pain. Therapy is really helping her start to use her hands again.  We had lunch with her in the dining room and she is really doing well.
---------------------------------------------------------

Now, back to the wedding, which was on Sunday (yes, a Sunday)!! The venue they wanted to use for the reception was not available on Saturday, so they chose Sunday. They have their honeymoon trip planned and they leave today (Thursday) for Italy, so the wedding had to be last weekend.  Matt begins his residency soon after they return from their honeymoon.  Sunday was fine since they could have the reception where they wanted to have it....Germantown Village, Columbus, Ohio. It was perfect.

The husband kissed his wife!

 Leaving the church....

The run through the bubbles....

Sara wore the ring her great-grandma gave to her as her "something old". Two hearts entwined.

The first dance as husband and wife.

Sara danced with her brother, and Mike asked everyone to remember their dad (my brother) as they dance.  The song was perfect for memories as "Souveniers".  Many of us shed some tears, but they were happy tears, not sad ones.

 Sara and Matthew.

Family group shot, Sara's side (Kellys and Clutters).

Our table in front. Reception hall shot (one side).

Sara and her mom, Jo Anne.  Jo Anne walked Sara down the aisle.

I caught a terrible cold and we had to delay our trip home by a day.  I went to the "Minute Clinic" at CVS to get some help and Jo Anne let us stay another night. There was no way I could drive all day feeling like I did on Monday. We hit the road Tuesday and Wednesday. Arrived home safely last night and took today (Thursday) off from work so I could recover a bit more (and do some laundry). Feeling better, but still coughing and blowing.  Joe is still doing well and we believe is still in normal sinus rhythm!!  Praise God for all His blessings!

There are well over 100 blogs in my Feedly Reader. Please know I will do my best to catch up, but I won't be able to read them all. My apologies!

I do appreciate your visit today!  Peace & hugs!

Friday Foto Friends.....

Joining Debbie at Breathing in Grace for Friday Foto Friends!

Checking in from Xenia, Ohio.  Sorry yesterday's pictures didn't show up. I should not have copied and pasted them and won't try that trick again. My bad.  They were cute pictures.

Our two-day journey to Ohio was good.  Traffic had its moments and we did see two very bad accidents that tied up traffic really bad - heading south. We were thankfully not in those back-ups, but there were definitely gridlocks in Atlanta on Thursday and again in Cincinnati yesterday. You just can't get through big cities without traffic tie-ups.  We forget how bad Washington, DC was when we lived there and put up with it every day.

On Thursday, we stopped at my sister's, near Valdosta, GA, and had lunch with her and Bruce.  We stayed a couple of hours and were so happy to see Bruce doing so well. He has made some big improvements since we saw him last. He also had some eye surgery done and his sight is much better now. When he gets new glasses (soon) they are hoping he can stop using the walker and just use a cane to get around. Tammy had a good lunch for us.  We gave them their birthday gifts (Bruce's is May 31 and Tammy's is June 5th.)  I hope we will have time for another visit on our way back home, but didn't want to chance it. We had fun, were well fed, and it was a nice break in our long day on the road.  We stopped for the night north of Chattanooga, TN and found ourselves eating dinner at 9:00 p.m. It was a long day.

We got to Xenia a couple of hours later than we hoped to but got to spend a couple of hours with Grandma in the evening.  We will be spending most of the day with her today, and made arrangements last night to have lunch with her in the dining room.  We don't even have to pay for it! I thought that was very nice.  It is good to see her thriving in her new environment. They do keep the residents busy and have been doing therapy with her every day for her hands and legs. I think she is happy.

This planter is the one we (sisters) all sent to her when she went to the hospital. It still looks great!

The flowers in the vase are artificial, but she had a florist do the bouquet so it looked like the fresh flowers we (sisters) sent her for Mother's Day. I thought that was really nice!  The hanging planter outside her window was a Mother's Day gift and the bird feeder was busy while we were there.

Thanks for stopping by today!  We head to Pickerington tomorrow, and will be staying with my sister -in-law (mother of the bride) Saturday night.  The wedding is Sunday.  More photos to come!

Peace & hugs!
