Good-bye June!

Oh my goodness, where did June go?  Where has the year gone?! That's an even better question. Time just goes too fast.

Another rainy day for us.  The boys went out this morning, to Harbor Freight. For those not familiar with Harbor Freight, it's like a Hobby Lobby, only for men (I'm smiling). While out, they stopped at Sam's Club and got rotisserie chickens for our lunch/dinner.  I made mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, steamed mixed veggies, and a salad to go with the chicken.  It was good. Our supper was leftovers from last night and this afternoon. Still good.  Apple pie and ice cream for dessert. Everyone is happy and full.

Joey and Darlene have decided to cut their visit short. They originally planned a trip down to Miami, to see Darlene's brother, for Monday and Tuesday, then back here for Wednesday and the July 4 holiday. Tristan was going to go with them. Then, today, they noticed that one of the dogs is beginning to go into heat. They have appointments to get them spayed the week after they get home, but it now needs to be pushed up, so they are heading home tomorrow, instead of to Miami. It is sad for Tristan, since he doesn't get to see his dad very often.  Hopefully he will enjoy the week with us, since he isn't scheduled to go home until Friday. We just love that boy.

At work, our fiscal year ends today (June 30), so tomorrow begins a new year for us. I have tons of work to do, for year-end and to get the new budget in place.  The audit will be at the end of the month. July is always hectic for me. On the mark, get set....GO!

I hope you had a good Sunday, and wish you a good week ahead!  Peace, love & hugs.

Saturday with Grandson & Puppies...

Well, we all slept late this morning, and had breakfast as we got up. Bagels, cereal, toast, and/or blueberry muffins (and coffee, of course).

The puppies take a lot of time and attention. I have cats because they are easy. I love dogs, too, but cats are easy.  It's like having a little child just starting to walk and get into everything....times two!

The boys went out and about, running a few errands off and on. It think they forgot things on purpose, so they could get in the car and go someplace again! LOL

I made pasta for dinner, with sausage & peppers on the side, cut up a big salad, and some good bread. I also baked sugar cookies today.  The first dozen out of the oven was gone by the time the next pan came out of the oven.  I guess they were a hit. It think there might be four or five left.

After dinner, Tristan got his guitar out and gave us a concert of sorts. He has only been taking lessons about a year, and is making good progress.

The dogs have gone to bed, with Darlene and Joey.  Tristan just said goodnight, and now all the cats are beginning to come out... good for them!

We had rain on and off all day today. Hoping for better weather tomorrow, so we can enjoy the pool.

Hope you have had a good day, and I wish you a good Sunday!  Peace, love & hugs.

Grandson & Puppies!

Good afternoon, friends.

We just got back from our trip to Punta Gorda, which is our half-way point for picking up or dropping off Tristan (grandson).  We had a nice lunch there, before heading back to Lakeland.  Darlene stayed behind with the puppies.  They are only seven months old, and can't be trusted for 5 -6 hours without supervision.

Lynda asked about photos of the pups, so I will be happy to post a couple that we have taken so far.  Tristan will be with us until July 5th.  Darlene has a brother down in the Miami area.  Joey, Darlene and Tristan (and pups) will go down there for an overnight visit, Monday to Tuesday.  I have the 4th off from work (of course) and took Friday off.

No  plans for the weekend, but we will have fun, even if we stay here and just enjoy the pool and each other's company.

Here are a couple of photos....

Thanks so much!

Thank you, dear friends, for all the good wishes and for your prayers.  It feels so nice to have your encouragement and to know that you care!!

The seminar today was really good, and the best part is the location. My Multiply friends may remember that I attended last year and posted a few photos.  It was at the Columbia Restaurant, over in Ybor City (Tampa).  Delicious Cuban food. They give us breakfast AND lunch - buffet style, including dessert. All the good eats, plus lots of good information for non-profit accountants.  I don't need CPE credits (continuing professional education), but CPAs need so many each year.  I got my Joe an invitation, so we have been attending together for several years now, and this year, we also wrangled an invite for our son, Joey (he is also a CPA).  So...FREE 8 hours of CPE, free food, and lots of good information. Win, win, win.  (Darlene had to stay home with the animals.)

My BFF, Elaine, send me an email today, with the following link.  These photos are old (early 1900s) photographs that have been restored.  The detail is absolutely amazing in all of them.  The clarity is mind-blowing, and the subject matter so fun and interesting --- take a look if you have time, and let me know which is your favorite.  I absolutely love them all, but especially the beach photos, and the faces of the newsgirls.

Hope you have had a good day!  We go to pick up Tristan tomorrow!  Peace, love & hugs.

Good news!!

I will be at an accounting seminar in Tampa, all day today, but wanted to let you all know that your prayers were heard.  I do not have breast cancer!!

I DO have an atypical papillary lesion, which will have to be removed.  I had three removed 10 years ago, so I know what to expect.  It isn't bad.  Not fun, but not bad.  I see the surgeon on Monday.  This is something that COULD turn into cancer, so it has to come out.  Early detection is always the key!

Thanks again for your good wishes and prayers.  I'll ask for them to continue through this, please.  Will certainly keep you posted.

Don't put off that annual mammogram, girlfriends.  We have to take care of ourselves.

Peace, love & hugs.

Hodgepodge Wednesday!!

Here are my answers to this week's "HodgePodge" questions:

1. Summertime is a season of reunions, weddings, and other family celebrations and gatherings...are any of the above on your calendar in the next two months?  We already had our two week road trip north, to celebrate graduations and birthdays. It was a great trip, full of family and friends and lots of love. Our son and DIL are here now, and our grandson will be visiting next week, so more love & fun ahead!

2. June is National Iced Tea Month...are you an iced tea drinker? If so, how do you like yours (sweet, flavored, etc)?  I do love iced tea, and will drink a whole gallon of it when I take the time to make it.  I like mine sweetened with stevia (no sugar!). I most often just drink water, however.

3. When were you last nervous?  Looking back, was the 'event' actually nerve-worthy? I was nervous last week, because of the biopsy (after a ‘spot’ was found during my mammogram). Waiting for the results is a pain.  I have found that being nervous and worrying are two things that just waste energy and emotion. It is best if you can just take a deep breath and know that God is in control of every situation.

4. The bristle toothbrush was invented in China on June 26, 1498...not sure how that date was pinned down so precisely but, on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being sick to your stomach and 1 being not at all, how nervous do you feel when you're headed to the dentist?  Do you see your dentist twice a year?  I do see the dentist twice a year. It has never made me apprehensive or nervous, so #1 for me. I like my dentist and the dental techs. Fortunately, my teeth are strong and my gums (so far) are staying healthy.

5. What's making news in your town this week?  The George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin trial is the big news right now. It happened here in Central Florida.  Here is the link to our newspaper’s front page, if you are really interested!  http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage?tc=ar

6. Curtains, drapes, blinds...your window treatment of choice? Are there any bare windows in your house? Is that by choice or because you haven't gotten around to covering them?  I have blinds and curtains on all the windows. No bare windows in our house.  When the lights go on, ALL the blinds get closed!! I’m no pervert, but when I walk past, or drive by, a house with lights on and windows not covered, I look in….who doesn’t? I don’t want any peeping toms watching us!! LOL

7. Summertime is officially here (in the Northern hemisphere anyway)...what one song is a must-have on your summer playlist?  Lovin Spoonful’s “Summer In The City”  http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/l/lovin_spoonful/summer_in_the_city.html

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  Lots of stuff on my mind. Waiting for the test results from my biopsy. Waiting is the worst part.  Enjoying the “kids”. One of the pups is jealous and tinkled twice on the floor last night.  Five cats, two dogs, and five  people in our little house….it’s a busy place right now!!

Tuesday is done....

The annual meeting went very well this evening. Thank goodness it is over for another year.

The auditors were in again today, and we got a lot of the preliminary stuff done and out of the way. Hooray.

Enjoying the rest of the evening with the kids and the dogs.  The female cats are terrorized. Onyx and Vinny are ready to take on the dogs, and are maintaining their territory.  It is fun to watch!

Back to work tomorrow, then the all-day accounting seminar on Thursday. Joe and Joey are also going (both CPAs), so poor Darlene will be home all by herself (with the cats and dogs).  Friday, we'll travel south to pick up Tristan. We have a half-way point, so we don't have to go the entire three-hour trip to Naples. We'll have lunch in Punta Gorda, then bring him home with us.  It should be a fun and interesting weekend.

Hope you have had a good day and I wish you a good hump day!!  Peace, love & hugs.

Two days early....

The kids will be here tonight!  Thought they would be here Wednesday, but they called last night to say they were leaving and would drive straight through.  We're expecting them around 9:00 p.m.  Glad I got the cleaning done yesterday, and their room ready!  The cats are in for some fun with the two pups that will also be visiting.

I went to see my friend, Shirley, at the hospital, during my lunch hour.  She was just getting up to take a walk, so I walked the halls with her!  She looks GREAT!  The nasal tubes were removed this morning, and she had her first soft food for lunch today.  She is hoping to get to go home Wednesday or Thursday.  The doctors told her that they "got it all" (all the cancer) and that is was caught early.  She isn't scheduled for any chemo or radiation.  Her surgery is being compared to a gastric bypass surgery, so she will be eating smaller meals, more often during the day.  I told her that my prayer warrior friends and I have been praying for her daily.  She said that "I have been feeling the prayers" and she thanks us.

The auditors came today, to begin the preliminary audit work.  I know I have done a good job, so I'm not concerned about anything.  It's just time consuming to be at their beck and call.  They will be there tomorrow, too, but then won't be back until the end of July.

Hope your week started well, and I wish you a good week ahead!! Thanks for stopping in!  Peace, love & hugs.

Procrastinating a little.....

I love this little cartoon drawing!!  It gives us permission to stay in our PJs, have that extra cup of coffee, and sneer at any work that needs to be done!  LOL

I did get up earlier than yesterday. Made a big breakfast for us, and started cleaning.  Happy to say that the house is presentable, the laundry is half done, and the guest room is ready for Joey & Darlene (and the grand-pups).

My shower felt great! Amazing how grungy I feel when I can't get in the shower and wash my hair, etc.  Sponge baths just don't do it for me.  The little incision where they did the biopsy is a little itchy today, but not sore.  There is some bruising, but that is to be expected. Not really any discomfort now, but I am still trying to be careful.

Our wonderful neighbors, Bob & Ginny, just came over with a gift for Vinny.  He didn't run from them, but wasn't going to let them pet him.  He will enjoy the new catnip toy and all the cats will enjoy the treats they brought over.

We are getting a heavy, heavy rain right now, with thunder and lightening.  It was sunny and beautiful just 30 minutes ago.  I'm glad Bob & Ginny went home when they did, or they would be trapped here. They were heading out to Sam's Club, but I doubt they left in this mess.  It should blow over before long.  The radar shows it coming from the southwest, moving kind of slow, but it's not a big front.

I asked for prayers a week or so ago, for my friend Shirley, who was diagnosed with stomach cancer. She is recovering from surgery. They removed the bottom part of her esophagus and the top part of her stomach. She may get to go home (to her sister's house) by mid-week. I got word through the prayer list from my old church, that she is ready to receive visitors for short visits.  I hope to pop over to see her tomorrow on my lunch time.  Thanks for keeping Shirley W on your prayer lists. She has a long way to go.

Here is a photo of VInny, sleeping peacefully on Joe's lap earlier today.

Hope you are enjoying your Sunday!  Thanks for checking in, dear friends!  Peace, love & hugs.

Lazy Saturday....

I have been just next to a slug today.  Slept late, and have just been sitting all day.  I HAVE been catching up on household bookkeeping, so feel good about that.

No pain today, and no bleeding.  I can shower in the morning, and am looking forward to that!!  The steri-strips will come off on their own by the end of the week.

We ordered pizza for dinner.  I think my slug-time is about over!  LOL  Lots to do tomorrow, to get ready for the kids' arrival this week.  I'll take it slowly, but need to get things done.

Thank you so much for your prayers and good wishes.  I should hear the results from the pathology lab by Wednesday.

Hope you are having a good weekend!!  Peace, love & hugs.

Not so bad.....

The procedure this morning only took an hour and 15 minutes or so, not the two hours they said it might take. It wasn't as awful as I was expecting. Not something I would want to do everyday, though!  Ha!  One spot was a cyst that aspirated easily and didn't require a biopsy.  The other one was not a cyst.

Now I have been given permission (orders) to take it easy for 48 hours.  No heaving lifting, no showers, and no underwire bras (which I don't understand?).  Joe is allowing me to do nothing. He just left to pick up Chinese food for our dinner.

Thanks for your prayers, and for your concern.  I won't know the results until next week. Of course, hoping for the best.  I mentioned to the doctor, when he said he hoped it was scar tissue or a fibrous mass, that I had a lot of friends praying for me, and he responded that he would also pray for me. Nice.

So, I'm kicking back tonight and tomorrow.  Sunday, I need to get some cleaning done, in advance of our company.  It's "just" family, so I'm not going to go crazy. They understand.

Thanks again, and thanks for stopping by.  Peace, love & hugs.

Looking forward to next week....

Our oldest son, Joey, and his wife, Darlene, will arrive on Wednesday.  We will head south and pick up Tristan next Friday, so he can spend time with his dad (and us).  It will be a good time for all, I think.  We don't make plans anymore, but enjoy 'going with the flow' and finding things to do as each day comes along.

This photo was 3 years ago, but this is Darlene, Tristan, and son Joey

I will get the cleaning done and the guest rooms ready this weekend.  Next week will be busy, even without company.  Tuesday is the Museum's annual meeting, which starts at 5:30.  Wednesday, the kids show up.  Thursday, I need to be in Tampa all day, for a non-profit accounting seminar.  Friday, we get Tristan....

Sometime in between, I need to make a grocery list.  Darlene is vegan and very careful about her diet, though she will eat vegetarian (includes dairy) while visiting. Lots of fruit and vegetables, and I'll do pasta at least once.  They also like to eat out, and we know which restaurants offer vegan menus, so that works well.

I am anxious to put tomorrow behind me. My appointment for the biopsy is at 8:45 a.m.  Joe is going with me, bless him.  They told me it will probably take about two hours.  Seems like a long time.  I just want it done!  Thanks again for your prayers and kind thoughts. I will check in when we get home.

Wishing you a good Friday!! The weekend is nearly here!!  Peace, love & hugs.

Coffee, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate....

We have had a Bunn coffee maker for years and years.  I think we are on our third since we were married 28 years ago.  I really like the Bunn coffee maker, which makes a whole pot in about four minutes.

Then, we went on our road trip last month, and found that my sister (who is not a coffee drinker) had a Keurig Coffee Maker in her kitchen - because she got hooked on the tea and hot chocolate (and flavored coffee) in the teachers' lounge at the school where she teaches.

My experience with a Keurig machine was that it only brewed a teeny tiny cup of coffee...something like five ounces.  Patti's machine has buttons for three different sizes - small, medium, and large!  Whoohoo!  Joe LOVED it, too.

When we got home from our trip, he looked on Amazon, and found that this model costs $153.00.  A little too much.  THEN, we saw them at Sam's Club, just like Patti's, for a LOT less than that.  Needless to say, he picked it up and put it in our basket.  Of course, then we had to buy the K-cups for it, and now have several kinds of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

I still use the Bunn maker to fill my thermos in the morning, to take to work, but we are really enjoying the tea, decaf coffee, and hot chocolate, in the evenings.  I have no counter space in my kitchen, but there are two coffee makers sitting there, side-by-side, now.

That's my story for today.  I can highly recommend both the Bunn and the Keurig coffee makers.  It is nice to have coffee, almost instantly, from either one.  What kind of coffee maker do you have?  I know there are lots of good ones out there.

Hope you have had a good day.  Thanks for checking in, and I wish you a good Thursday!  Peace, love & hugs.

Thankful Tuesday!

I am so thankful for your good thoughts and all the prayers offered, as I head into the biopsy on Friday. Thank you, thank you!!

I am also thankful that Onyx is better (not 100% yet, but better) and that he and Vinny are friends now!

Look at my boys!!  Hooray!

Vinny in the kitchen window for the first time!

I finished the May fiancials at work, today. Nice to have that behind me.  The annual audit will start late next month, but the auditor wants to come by on Monday for some preliminary work. Okay with me, but it is crazy how fast this year has gone by!!

Thanks again, my friends. I appreciate being on your prayer lists, and I appreciate the support. Wishing you a restful night and a good Wednesday.  Peace, love & hugs.

Continued Prayers, Please.

Well, my appointment today was not necessarily the news I was hoping for. (My mammogram two weeks ago caused me to have an ultrasound today.)

I have to have a biopsy on Friday, and an aspiration. There are two areas of concern.  One they believe is a cyst and can be aspirated. The other one appears to 'possibly' have a blood supply, and looks suspicious.

So, time will tell.  The pathology report will take 5 -7 days, after the biopsy, so we're looking at a couple of weeks before we know anything.  Waiting is the worst.  I know it can still be nothing, but it doesn't seem like 'nothing' this time.

I got through the thyroid cancer, and I can get through whatever else is given to me. I will rely on my faith and your prayers, please!! Christ will be my comfort, and your friendship and support will be my strength!

Good news...lots and lots of women survive and many advances have been made in treating breast cancer. IF that's what it is, it can be conquered.

No sense worrying until the report comes back.  In the mean time, I ask to be added to your prayer list, please.  Thanks so much!  Peace, love & hugs.

A Somewhat Lazy Sunday!

It was nice to sleep in this morning. Woke up around 8:00 and Onyx was on my pillow! He is eating, and acting normal again. Makes my heart happy!! Of course, we are still waiting to hear about the test results, and hope that there is a diagnosis and treatment for him!

I did dust and vacuum around, and spot mopped. We cleaned pretty good last weekend, so it was an easy once-over today.  The last load of laundry is in, and Joe and I enjoyed a dip in the pool and sat in the sun for awhile reading. It was a good afternoon!  I made pasta with Italian sausage for our dinner (his request.)

Joe is talking to our son, Jeff, as I am typing. We will probably hear from Joey later, too. Happy Father's Day.  Hope all the dads in your lives had a good day, too.  My dad was remembered with love, and missed as always.

I need to ask for your prayers, please.  My mammogram was two weeks ago. They called last week, to make an appointment for an ultra sound on my right breast. I know that it is usually nothing, but I also know that sometimes it really is 'something'. I'm not worried, but I am a little anxious.  My appointment is at 3:00 tomorrow, so if you think about it, please whisper a prayer for negative results.  Thanks so much!

Wishing you all a good week ahead, and thanks for checking in!  Peace, love & hugs.

Super Saturday!!

What started out as a gray rainy day, turned into such a great day in every other way!!

I have met blogging friends from across the country, and was blessed to meet two new friends while on our trip last month, as well as having breakfast with two that we met in person a couple of years ago.

Today, I finally got to meet a blogging friend, from our Multiply days, who only lives about 40 miles away.  It isn't so easy when I work full time, she and her husband have four kiddos, and she has a volunteer commitment that takes a lot of her time.  We've "talked" about it many times, and were finally able to make it happen today!!

Joe and I got up and headed for St. Pete, to go shopping at Mazzaro's Italian Market. I've mentioned it here many times and we try to go over there every couple of months.  Lisa mentioned, a year or so ago, a restaurant in St. Pete that they enjoy (http://lukesconeyisland.com/).  Joe and I stopped in there soon after and enjoyed it. I suggested that perhaps Lisa could meet us there today, and it all worked out perfectly!  She came with her husband and two boys (the girls couldn't come).  We had a blast.  It felt, to me, like we've known each other forever.  My experience so far, with meeting my blogging friends in person, is exactly that.  We share so much here, that meeting in person is like seeing someone we've known for years. I've never been disappointed!  We had lunch, and sat there in that booth for 3 1/2 hours talking!!  We had a brown cow (root beer float) after occupying the booth and feeling a little guilty about still being there, after our food was long gone.  Great fun and much laughter!

Now, a report on the kitties.  When I woke up, the first thing I did was try to find Onyx. He didn't sleep on my pillow last night and I was so worried about him. He has been drinking water, but not eating.  I found him under a table in Joe's office. He came out for me, and let me hold him and pet him. I took him to the kitchen and started cleaning the food bowls to refill them with 'breakfast'.  He wouldn't eat real tuna last night, and he had no interest in food this morning.  I told Joe we would have to go to the Pet Supermarket and get some Nutri-Cal for him. I'm not giving up.  So we stopped there before coming home.

Now, for Vinny.... this morning, he was playing with some of the cat toys - a first. He is so comfortable now, that he doesn't run from us anymore, and he is sleeping out in the open, rather than hiding under a bed or the sofa.  Hooray for Vinny!!

When we arrived home this afternoon, I put fresh food in the bowls and called "supper".  They all came to eat, INCLUDING ONYX!!  He ate!! He ate!! He ate!!  Of course he did- after spending $14.00 on Nutri-Cal!  LOL  I am still going to give him some of the Nutri-Cal. He has lost weight, and can use the extra nutrition. It won't go to waste.

Blogging friend Carol asked what we buy at Mazzaro's.  Pasta, tomato sauce (imported from Italy), Joe got cookies from the bakery and I got some spices today, too. We skipped the gelato.

So - there you have my rainy, but wonderful day!!  Wishing you a good evening and Sunday!  Peace, love & hugs.

Random Five Friday....

  1. I am so happy it is Friday. Some weeks go by in a flash and others just seem to drag. This week has been dragging!!

  2. I had lunch with my dear friend, Shirley, today. We went to a little diner, in an obscure place not far from the Museum where I work.  Cozy Oaks Restaurant.  The food is really good, and I had a Reuben sandwich, which was yummy! Don't even ask me about the WW points.

  3. Onyx, our sick kitty, is happy to be home from the animal clinic, but he is still very sick. He did sleep on my pillow last night, and was purring his little heart out. Purring can mean contentment, or sickness. I think it was some of each. Makes me sad when we can't figure out what is wrong and make him better.  Waiting on those tests to come back from the lab.

  4. Our new cat, Vinny, has made himself at home now, and has sort of made friends with Lilly, so great progress with him. He no longer has his own litter box and feeding area - he has joined in at the community diner and facilities!  LOL  That makes me happy!

  5. Joe and I are going to pay a little visit to our favorite Italian market, over in St. Pete, tomorrow. Mazzaro's, here we come!

Wishing you all a great weekend!!  Thanks for stopping by.  Peace, love & hugs!

Invitation to Visit a New Blog.....

My friend, Genny, is the Director of a homeless shelter in the Philadelphia area.  She is an amazing woman, and I am honored to have her as a friend.  One of their volunteers has started a blog and is working with some of the residents to express themselves in words.  I am quite impressed and look forward to following them.  I thought you might enjoy it too.

http://shelterskelterblog.wordpress.com/

Thanks for checking it out!!  Genny and I met for the first time, in Italy! She, her sister and their parents were in the same tour group as us.  She and Joe had lots of things and people in common, since they are from the same area of Philly. Since then, she has visited us here and we visited her there.  We stay in touch by Facebook (and previously on Yahoo360 and Multiply). She is a good artist, too!

It's Hodgepodge Wednesday Again!

Hodgepodge for Wednesday, June 12, 2013

1. What do you think makes a good dad?  My dad was amazing. He was the chief disciplinarian, and we respected him. There was never a question about his love for us. He participated, showed up at school events, and worked hard in a job he didn’t really like so he could provide for us. He could make us (4 kids) laugh, and he could make us cry.  A “talk” from dad was harder on us than a spanking would have been.  He died from cancer at age 63. We lost him much too soon.

2.  What's something you learned from your own father?  He taught me to drive; he taught me how to work in a garden; he taught me how to love by his (and mom’s) example; he taught me how to “stick to it”; he taught me how important family is, again by his example. I was blessed.

3. It's your birthday-what kind of cake will we be having?   Red velvet, with my mom’s special icing recipe (not cream cheese!) (posted under the recipe tab, here).  She made it for me every year.  Since my birthday is two weeks before Christmas, she always baked enough layers to have two cakes.  One for my birthday, and one for the freezer to get out for Christmas day.  Of course, she has been gone since 1995, so if I get one for my birthday now, it’s because I baked it myself!

4. When you're faced with a big decision are you more of a go with your gut type of person, or are you someone who reasons it all out, weighing the pros and cons?  I have learned to trust my gut and usually go with that, or at least make it number one on the list if there is time to reason it out a bit.  Times I’ve not trusted my instinct, I’ve been sorry, so I usually go with the gut.

5. June is National Dairy Month. What's your favorite dairy item? Most often purchased dairy item?   I am not a milk drinker anymore, but I do eat a lot of cheese.  There is always cheese in the fridge.

6. Explorer Jacques Cousteau was born on June 11, 1910....what's something you've recently discovered or something you'd like to explore?  Through Ancestry.com’s DNA testing, I discovered I am 10% Scandinavian.  I had  no idea about that, and  look forward to exploring the family history more to find those Scandinavian relatives!

7. Are you typical of your generation?  I think that I probably am. I am a “baby-boomer” and fall right smack in the middle; since I was born in 1951 (Boomers were born 1946-1964).  Some of the traits for boomers are:  work-centric, independent, goal-oriented, and competitive. I am also a first-born, and some of those same traits describe a first-born.

8. Insert your own random thought here.  I am happy to be on the last question because I need to get some work done!!  That was my first random thought!  LOL

If you enjoy the Hodgepodge Wednesday questions, you can sign up to get an advance email, with the weekly questions:  http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/

Hoping to get our sweet Onyx home from the cat hospital today! Will keep you posted!!  Have a good "hump day"!!  Peace, love & hugs.
