Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 376

From this Side of the Pond

1. The Hodgepodge lands this year on National Secret Keeping Day...on a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being I'm a blabbermouth and 10 being I'm a vault) how good are you at keeping secrets?
Oh, I would put myself at an 8 or 9.  Sometimes I do share things with Joe just because I might need his wise counsel, depending on what the secret is and whose secret it is.   I much prefer to not hear secrets.

I read here nine jobs for people who can keep a secret-cybersecurity worker, executive assistant, housekeeper, lawyer, nuclear plant technician, physician, private investigator, psychologist, security guard  Of the jobs listed, which one most interests you and why?  Some of my favorite books include PIs, so I guess (if I was younger) it might be fun to be a private investigator.  When we first moved to Lakeland, one of our neighbors introduced us to her brother who was a retired FBI Agent.  He learned that I worked for the FBI (years ago) and asked me to do some transcription work for some of his PI cases (mostly insurance fraud).  It was fun. I did it for a few months before I found full-time work for myself and didn't have time for his work anymore.

2. What's the secret of life (or one of them anyway)?  Be true to yourself!  Listen to your gut!  Have faith that God is in control!!  Don't let anyone or anything steal your joy.  That is more than one.

3. Off the record, best-kept secret, a fly on the wall, top-secret, my lips are sealed, secret shopper, as quiet as a mouse, poker face, spill the beans, open secret, bite your tongue...which secret idiom can you best relate to right now? Explain.  Gosh, I don't really relate to any of those right now but I can tell you I do not have a poker face.  I have never been able to hide my feelings or tell a lie because my face gives me away every time.  I don't even try anymore... open book.

4. Spill here the secret ingredient in one of your favorite recipes?  I had never heard of Kitchen Bouquet until blogging friend, Mari, posted a recipe using it.  I got some at Publix and like to add it to lots of things now. I don't have a recipe to share but sometimes when I taste something I think it might just need a tsp of Kitchen Bouquet.  (Gravies, sauces, meats... it adds flavor and color.)  Do any of you use it?  (Thanks, Mari!!)

5. My mama celebrates a big birthday tomorrow (Wednesday).  Share a favorite quote, song lyric, saying, or verse of scripture that will add some sunshine to her day (ours too!)

6.  Insert your own random thought here.  Our intention to go to the pool to exercise my knees/hips on Tuesdays and Thursdays went out the window (so to speak) yesterday when it rained all day long.  Of course, today we are off to the farm. There might be time to go this afternoon when we get home if it isn't raining.  The pool closes at 5:00 during the pandemic (instead of staying open until dusk). Will have to see how we feel.

I mentioned that my sister, Tammy, broke her leg and asked for prayers.  She saw the orthopedic doctor yesterday and learned that she has to have surgery.  The ligament is gone that holds the tibia and fibula together and it has already started to separate.  She won't be able to put any weight on it for six weeks.  Thankfully, she is eligible for some home health care which will sure help with Bruce too.  Surgery will be this coming Monday. Please keep her on your prayer list or send her some positive thoughts!

Thanks for your visit!!
Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

  8. I confess ... I guess I'm not a vault after all. I did tell Jay a couple of secrets, but they usually had to do with something his kids told me. I'm so sorry about your sister, but glad to hear she will get help. Getting old is not for sissies, I realize more and more. I have used Kitchen Bouquet for years to darken my roast gravy if it needs it.

  9. Prayers continuing, both for Tammy and Bruce! That's so neat about your helping out the P.I. -- just goes to show it's not always what you know, but WHO. I've never heard of Kitchen Bouquet but will be checking it out. Lately we've been experimenting with different (to us) seasonings to jazz up the ordinary.

  12. I love your answers for #2.
No poker face here either. Bob always tells me I can't get away with anything.
I'm so glad you like Kitchen Bouquet. I think it makes all the difference too. :)

  13. Oh my, bless Tammy! That sounds so hard. I'm glad she can get some home health care.

I have never heard of Kitchen Bouquet. I guess I missed Mari's post about it.

I think I'm a pretty good secret keeper. I often tell Dick confidential things that others have shared with me, and then I remind him that he is the ONLY one I'm telling and that he's not supposed to bring it up to anyone else. There have been a few reasons for me to remind him of that, lol!

    I think I'm a very good

  16. Praying Tammy's surgery goes well, accomplishes what needs to be done, and her recovery is smooth. What a blessing that she is eligible for some outside help! That could not have come at a better time!
