Friday Fotos...

I have no new photos to share.  The bathroom project has a primer painted on the walls and Mr. G won't be back until Monday.  He will install the new shower surround on Monday and then it will be up to me to get the painting done.

I did finish getting the drawer pulls and cupboard knobs switched out.  The new glass knobs look like jewelry.  I posted this photo earlier in the week but here it is again.  I am so happy with them!

I didn't take this photo but am sharing it here.  I just don't go past the cleaners anymore since I'm not working.  I thought this was cute, pulled from their website...

The Mas Verde dinner group went to Chili's last night for dinner.  I had a salad with chicken which was pretty good.  Everyone seemed happy with their choices, but not crazy about it.  None of us had been there in a long time. I doubt we go again.

My calendar is clear today but I am going out for a bit to look for paint.  Tomorrow I will head to Punta Gorda for lunch with Tristan.  His new job in DC begins next week so I appreciate him taking time out to see me before he leaves.  I will miss seeing him every couple of months.  I don't think Lauren and Jeremy are coming.  Today is Jeremy's birthday.

The first Sunday of every month is my Greeter day at church.  This week is flying by, but don't they all for some reason these days?!  Good-bye January!  Wow!

Happy Friday, everyone!

Peace and Hugs!

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Whimsical Fashion Fun...

There isn't a linky and there aren't any rules.
Check out the dress and decide which shoes you like best.
It's all for fun and just a whimsical thing!
Photos are from The Storybook of Dreams and Beauty.

Vintage Elizabeth Taylor!! Spring is on all our minds, and this dress looks like Spring.  Count down 1-2-3 and tell us which shoes she should choose to wear with her dress.  It's all for fun and just a whimsical thing!

My thoughts:  All of the colors are a match, but #1 doesn't look vintage to me.  I think I will choose #2 today.   What are your thoughts?
Peace and Hugs!

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow...

The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

A big thanks to our hostess Joyce!  You can join the Hodgepodge fun HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 587

From this Side of the Pond

1. What was your after-school routine like when you were a kid?  I am the oldest sibling of four, and our folks both worked so I was expected to be at home with the other kids after school.  I had cleaning chores, sometimes had things to do to help get supper ready, and even did ironing now and then.  I also did homework when I could and tried to keep an ear turned to All My Children, One Life To Live, General Hospital, and Dark Shadows.  They were all 30 minutes back then so were on from 3:00 to 5:00.

2. January 26 is National Green Juice Day ( I guess it's true everything really does have its day). Do you juice, as in make your own in an attempt to get healthy? Do you do the green juices? What's your favorite kind of juice (home blended or store bought, either one)?  The only juice I've ever "made" is orange and that is also the only juice I drink, usually store-bought.

3. What's something trivial about which you have a strong opinion?  I don't like leaving dirty dishes in the sink.  It is trivial but it bugs me.  I also clean up the kitchen as I work/cook.

4. What do you need more of in your life? Less of?  I need to get back into one or two of my hobbies.  I have time for them now!   I need to watch less TV. Seriously.

5. Give us three adjectives to describe your January.  Tiring. Cold. Crazy.

6. Insert your own random thought here.   Mr. G has all the wallpaper off in the guest bathroom.  He will be sanding the walls tomorrow and paint won't be far behind!!  He did tell me that whoever did the wallpaper, used duct tape on some of the seams.  Hard to get off.  Glad he knows it wasn't me who did the wallpaper, but I freely admit that I use duct tape to "fix" things often.

Peace and Hugs!

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Lord, unto me!

The Tuesday 4...

Thanks to Annie for today's four questions!  You can join in by clicking HERE!

Dream.. Dream.. Dream

Welcome to Toni's Tuesday 4 friends!
It's up early due to a busy weekend.
Dream, when you're feeling blue
Dream, that's the thing to do
Just watch the smoke rings rise in the air
You'll find your share of memories there

So dream, when the day is through
Dream, and they might come true
Things never are as bad as they seem
So dream, dream, dream
                           ........by Johnny Mercer

1. As evenings are long, temperatures drop and we have more time to dream and ponder, are you pondering or dreaming of anything right now?  I am pondering getting the guest bathroom done!

2.  Day dreaming , singing, humming even, can lift your mood and change the entire state of your health.   Do you daydream or sing during the day? Now that you know it can improve health will you try it?  No and no.  I don't daydream, and don't sing or hum unless I am in my car alone and a song I love comes on.

3. Fess up friends!   When you window gaze is it because you are nosy or because it's just so lovely outside?  We will still love you no matter what the answer.  Window gaze?  Not sure what you mean, but I don't gaze out my windows unless I am looking for something.  My views aren't that beautiful.  If I lived somewhere with a beautiful view, I might spend more time gazing out a window.

4.Daydreams can become reality if they stir us to action.    Were there any times in your life when dreams came true?  My answers are not very interesting, I'm afraid.  I just don't day-dream.

Peace and Hugs!

A mighty fortress is our God
A bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing

PS:  My endoscopy yesterday showed nothing wrong in my esophagus.  Done and done now!!

Monday Musings...

I am back to the surgical center this morning for my last (I hope) test.  My kidney stone a few weeks ago snowballed into two CT scans, a PET scan, x-rays, a new pulmonary doctor, and now an endoscopy to check on some irritation the PET scan showed in my esophagus.  I was told by my primary that I didn't have to do it, but it will put an end to all of this ruckus and there will be results in my medical records to make comparisons down the road if any of this comes back at me.  Just get it done, I said.

 Other than that...

On Friday, I ventured out to Winter Haven to meet up with a woman who was selling glass knobs for cupboards.  I've been looking at glass knobs to make a little change in the kitchen and in the bathrooms.  I hit the mother load on Facebook's Marketplace.  She had 93 and wanted $1.00 each.  They are prettier than I expected and look like jewelry!!  I've only switched out a few of them, so far.  What do you think?

On Saturday, my neighbor, Susan, asked me to go to lunch.  We had such a great time at Longhorn.  Spur of the moment thing.  Her husband was at a grandson's wrestling match so we sat there enjoying the food and talking for nearly two hours.  I did a little cleaning after I got home.  Susan is my ride today, to and from the surgical center.

Mr. G has come down with a really bad cold.  His wife, Robin, let me know he wouldn't be here Sunday afternoon.  I told her to keep him at home today, as well, since I won't be home.  I hope he feels better tomorrow.

I got home from church and did my two loads of laundry.  I made a meatloaf on Friday and had some of it yesterday and will eat it again today when I am back from my procedure.

I've got nothing on the calendar for tomorrow or Wednesday.  The weather here will be back in the mid-70s!!  I may drive over to the Strawberry Farm for some berries and good tomatoes.

My foot is doing okay, I guess.  I'm being careful.  It doesn't hurt but I do notice swelling when I haven't had it up for a while (like after the drive to Winter Haven).  It goes down and feels okay. It bugs me a bit that I can't see what it looks like under the bandages. Sigh.

Peace and Hugs!

This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

The Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's nine questions!  You can join in HERE!

A Summer Song

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: A Summer Song (1964)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) Are you enjoying winter? Or do you daydream about summer? This is Florida.  Winter is what we live for!!

2) In this week's song, trees sway in the breeze. Is it windy where you are today?  There is a breeze, yes, but it's not windy.

3) There's rain outside their window. Have you more recently seen rain or snow?  Lots of rain recently, but no snow in central Florida.

4) This week's artists are the duo Chad and Jeremy. As a teen, Chad Stuart was very versatile in the arts. While he enjoyed drawing, he showed real promise in music and won a scholarship to London's Central School of Speech and Drama. When you were a teenager, what were your best classes?  I liked school and did well in all of my classes but chemistry and geometry. I was lucky to get Cs in those two.  Art and band were favorites.

5) Between 1965 and 1966, Chad and Jeremy played British pop stars on a variety of American TV shows, including The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Patty Duke Show, and Batman. Which of those series do you remember?  I remember them all but Patty Duke was a favorite.

6) While those TV appearances were good for the duo's record sales, they sowed the seeds of dissent between the friends. Jeremy Clyde realized he enjoyed acting far more than music and began threatening to leave the act. Chad finally got tired of dissuading him. Between Jeremy's dramatic aspirations and contract disputes, they broke up. Later they both admitted they regretted the split, but as Chad said, "we were just kids." Is there an old friend you've drifted away from but miss?  No, not that comes to mind.  Facebook is a good place to stay connected.

7) In 1964, when "A Summer Song" was popular, the #1 movie in the country was Mary Poppins. Have you seen it?  Yes, a couple of times.

8) One of the biggest news stories of 1964 was Elizabeth Taylor's wedding to Richard Burton. The bride wore yellow, with yellow and white flowers in her hair. The groom wore a dark suit, red tie, and yellow boutonniere. What did you wear last time you got dressed up?  I wore black dress pants and a white and black tunic with sequins for my nephew's wedding.

9) Random question: When you're in the backseat, do you wear a seatbelt?  Not for around town, but I do if traveling a greater distance.

Peace and Hugs!

Who else could rescue me from my failing?
Who else would offer His only Son?
Who else invites me to call Him Father?
Only a Holy God.

Foor surgery update:

Going into week two with this foot.  I'm tired of it already but it did begin to swell up and hurt when I drove over to Winter Haven yesterday.  It was good to get home and put it up.  I'm just glad that I am able to walk and that the pain isn't too bad.  Just have to keep on keepin' on.

Friday Fotos...

A couple of you asked to see before pictures of the work being done in my guest bathroom.  I snapped a few photos of the work in progress.  It is a long way from being done but you can get the idea from these...

The wallpaper has purple and gold and is not to my taste at all.
The seams were rolled up, just asking to be peeled off!!  LOL

The tub surround had come loose from the wall.
The glue sure wasn't evenly spread (yellow globs).
I am happy there is no mold!!

Mr. G cleans up as he goes.  The trash bag is full of paper he has torn off.  He will be scraping more off today.  He knows I have company coming so is working on that deadline.  I will post more as more gets done.

Peace and Hugs!

Praise the Lord! His mercy is more!
Stronger than darkness, new every morn,
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more!

Whimsical Fashion Fun...

There isn't a linky and there aren't any rules.
Check out the dress and decide which purse she should carry.
It's all for fun and just a whimsical thing.
Photos are from The Storybook of Dreams and Beauty.

For some reason, this dress reminded me of Jackie Kennedy.  A little bit vintage and Valentine's Day is coming.  She needs a purse to carry.  Count down 1-2-3 and tell us which one you like best!  It's all for fun and just a whimsical thing!!

My thoughts:  I love red and think it's a good color for me.  This style isn't for me but it is lovely on the model.  As for the purses, they all match but I am choosing #1 because I like it best.  What are your thoughts?

PS:  I had a nice visit last night from Cheryl (Sunlit Pathway) and her hubby, Pat.  They also had furbaby Toby with them so I got my puppy fix!!

The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thanks to Joyce for today's Hodgepodge!  You can join in HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 586

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's a winter memory you treasure (can be from any winter in your lifetime)?  I grew up in Millersport, Ohio, at the western end of Buckeye Lake (seen in this photo).  The lake froze solid back in the days of my youth and we spent every minute we could ice skating in the winter.  On Sundays, there were motorcycle races on the ice, too.  The lake is about 11 miles long and a couple of miles wide at the widest place.

2. Tell us about the last time or a recent time you were caught up in red tape. Does it send your frustration level off the charts or is it something you've come to expect when dealing with any sort of bureaucracy?  There is lots of "red tape" involved when there is a death in the family.  Joe has been gone four years (next month) and I still have to produce his death certificate now and then.  I think it's about done, but I am still dealing with red tape for some of Helen's stuff (final tax return coming soon, I hope).  It is not frustrating for me but it is tiring.

3. Do you eat/like fish? Do you cook fish at home? What's your favorite fish dish? Ever been ice fishing?  I have never been ice fishing.  I like shrimp, scallops, mild white fish, salmon... can't name a favorite - well, crab legs!  I do cook fish at home but it is not often.  Much easier to order at a restaurant.

4. Did you watch any of the US President's Inauguration coverage on Monday, Jan 20?  Yes, I did!  So happy!!  On a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being not at all and 10 being very very) how interested are you in politics in general?  In general, maybe a 3 0r 4.  Do you follow/keep up with/ get involved with local politics?  I follow a bit, but do not get involved.  My main political source is blogger Bunkerville.  Thanks, Bunk, for giving me all I need to know in the world of politics!

5. What's the coziest thing you own and what makes it so?  I mention my "happy place" often... my recliner, in my living room, would be my main cozy place.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  My foot is feeling much better.  It doesn't hurt unless I stand on it after sitting for a while, but then that goes away too.  It is coming along well, I think.  I don't see Dr. Calvo until Feb. 3rd so there are a few weeks to go.  Doing okay!!  Praise God!

Peace and Hugs!

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow.

The Tuesday 4...

Thanks to our hostess, Annie, for today's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Weathering the Storm...

Weathering the Storm

Hello .. This is Toni's Tuesday  4 where we strive to get you thinking and blogging and connecting with others.
The saying used to be on my blog as a description: "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."
This was important to me when my spine went south on me.  I was born disabled and became a dancer.  Now I am disabled again. Que sera, sera, whatever will be will be.   But we keep on going. and turn the lemons into lemonade...or we should I think.
Let's talk about it because we have all been there, done that.

1. What/who is your rock through the storms of life?  My faith in God, for sure.  Joe was also my rock and I miss him, but my faith has lifted me up through so much!
What beliefs do you have to stand on?  Genesis to Revelation.

2.  Do you take precautions for bad storms? What precautions do you take?  This is Florida, so yes I do take precautions during hurricane season.  We prepare for no electricity, some easy to heat food, gasoline for a generator, batteries, extra water, a full tank of gas in the car, etc., etc.

3. The Sheep are caroling in the snow... do you sing during the tough times?   No, I don't sing.  What things, or what activities pull you through?  Remembering that God is always in control.

4. Whatever we do, we should be there for others in the difficult times.
What advice can you give to those who are going through a difficult time now?  Ask for help and trust God.   One of the hardest things for me to do after I lost Joe was to ask for help.

Peace and Hugs!!

Monday Musings...

I watched the Eagles play football last night in all that snow.  So glad the Eagles won but that snow was beyond crazy!!  Whew!

We have had rain—buckets of it with thunder boomers—but I'll take that over snow any day. The rain kept me in the house. Tasked with keeping my foot's bandage dry (not even a little wet, the doctor said), I decided not to go to church yesterday. I could put a plastic bag over the boot, but they tear easily, and I imagine sweat counts as "wet," and a plastic bag would cause sweat and/or condensation, so no plastic bag.

Saturday went well.  There was not much pain and I had visitors in and out (thank you, Cheryl and Pat for coming by).  Neighbors checked in.  Bill took my mail key and said he will get my mail when he gets theirs.  Etc., etc., etc

I did not sleep well Saturday night. There wasn't much pain but I kept waking up every couple of hours.  There was more pain yesterday but it was tolerable.  No pain, no gain.  I am sure it is healing pain.  I did get my usual two loads of laundry done, so there is that!!

My new shower surround will be delivered today, from Lowe's.  Mr. G is coming by to get started in my guest bathroom.  I'll have him today and tomorrow, then he is on another job  until next week, when I get him back.

That's all I've got today.  Thanks for the prayers and good wishes!!

It's Gasparilla Time here in Tampa Bay!!  Arrgh!!

Peace and Hugs!

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

This Week's Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  Join the fun HERE!

Careless Whisper

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Careless Whisper (1985)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this week's song, George Michael sings that, when it comes to relationships, "there's no comfort in the truth." Have you ever learned something about a friend, lover, or relative that you wish you didn't know?  Yes.

2) Though this was the top song of 1985, George wrote it years before, when he was still working as a DJ at a restaurant outside London. He recalled the moment the sax solo popped into his head. It was while he was on the bus on his way to work. If you go to work, how do you get there (car, bus, train, etc.)? If you don't work outside the home, tell us about a trip you make regularly.  I retired from two jobs and got there by car.  Now, the grocery is probably the trip I take most often, by car.

3) The video for this song was very expensive. It was filmed on location all around Miami, including the luxury Grove Towers Condominiums, but then much of it had to be reshot because George didn't like his hair. Are you having a good hair day today?  I rarely have a good hair day!  Curly and frizzy, and it does what it does.

4) 1985 was a big year for George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. As Wham! they had three songs on the charts and became the first Western pop music act to tour China. Have you ever visited China? Would you like to go?  No, and no.

5) When he wasn't working, George was a creature of habit. For example, he never tired of Cocoa Puffs for breakfast and roast chicken for Sunday dinner. Is there a menu item you find yourself eating again and again?  Pasta.

6) George enjoyed living quietly in Highgate, North London. It wasn't until after his death that his neighbors learned he was the "anonymous resident" who had been funding Highgate's Fair in the Square for years. Held in June each year, The Fair is known for its dog show, arts and crafts booths, music, and food. Tell us about one of your community's annual events.  Mayfaire by-the-Lake is a fine art juried art show/market.  The museum where I worked organizes it and it is a good fund-raiser each year.  It is always Mother's Day weekend and there are approximately 180 artists in tents around Lake Morton, in Lakeland, FL.

7) According to Car and Driver, when "Careless Whisper" was popular, so was the Chevy Cavalier, a compact car. Nearly 40 years later, the vehicle landscape is very different. There are fewer compacts sold and last year, the most popular Chevy was the Silverado, a light-duty truck. Do you drive a car, a truck, or an SUV?  I think my Ford Escape is considered an SUV.  If I were going to buy a new vehicle, I really like the Ford Bronco Sport, in red!!

8) Also in 1985, Bill Shoemaker's earnings reached $100 million, making him the world's most successful jockey. Do you follow horse racing?  No.

9) Random question -- In which race would you do better: the Iditarod, with sled dogs in Nome, or speeding in a race car at the Indy 500?  If I had to choose it would NOT be in Alaska!!  But no thanks to either.  I'm much too old.  North Florida might get snow in a few days!! Glad I live a few hours south!!

Peace and Hugs!

Crown Him the Lord of Love,
Behold His hands and side,
Those wounds, yet visible above,
In beauty glorified.

Friday Fotos...

I will have some photos later today and will come back to post them and report on my foot surgery.  Thanks to all who offered prayers.  I feel them.

UPDATE:

(Just a note:  My sister needed to go home yesterday morning.  She arrived home safely in the early afternoon.)

Neighbor Bill picked me up this morning at 5:00 a.m. and we arrived at the surgery center at 5:15 (no traffic at that hour!!).

I was the first patient in and found out I was Dr. Calvo's only surgery so there would be no waiting.  Bill left when they signed me in and left his number so he could return when I was ready to go home.  We were back home by 9:30!!   Wow!!

Dee came over to see how I was doing.  Susan came over too.  Miss Princess had to jump on my lap and she got treats so I was welcomed home well.

Susan returned around noon with chicken noodle soup, chicken rice soup, bread, and pecan pastries from Panera.  I have food for today and the entire weekend!

Susan is coming back around 4:00 to feed the cats and clean the litter boxes for me.  I am always blown away by my dear friends'/neighbors' generosity.

Dr. Calvo told me no driving for 24 hours so I have an excuse to be lazy tomorrow.  The pain is minimal (so far) but I do have some pain medication (super Tylenol) to take if I need it. Her instructions were basically to not walk too much (the pins can break if I over-do it) and to keep it DRY.  If it gets even a little wet, I am to call so they can re-dress it.  Infection is the biggest concern.

Vinny is on my lap and Casper is watching from the TV stand.  I'm watching Home Town.  Four weeks to go!

My Pastor called last night, our church Admin person texted that she added me to the prayer lists (and asked if I wanted meals - I said no).  Encouraging texts from family and friends dinged in on my phone all morning.  Feeling the prayers and the blessings!  Thank you!

Peace & Hugs!

Like a Shepherd,
Jesus will guard His children,
In His arms He carries
Them all day long:
Praise Him! Praise Him!
