Friday Fotos...

A pretty sky one day this week as I was leaving for work.  That's the only new photo I have to share.

I am off to Georgia today and will be home on Monday.  I'll be visiting my sister, Tammy.  My house and cats are being cared for by my friend, MJ, so no worries there.  I won't be posting while I'm gone but will have plenty to write about when I return!!  Prayers for safe travels will be much appreciated!!

Peace and Hugs!

Whimsical Fashions 2023...

There isn't a linky and there aren't any rules.
Check out the outfit and pick the shoes you think go best.
It is all for fun and just a whimsical thing!
Photos are from the Storybook of Dreams and Beauty.

She can't decide which of the Christian Louboutin unique wedge sandals hand-painted in Bhutan she will choose, so let's help her out!  Count down 1-2-3 and tell us which ones you like best for her casual day.  It's all for fun and just a whimsical thing!

My thoughts:  I will wear jeans any day of the week and in any weather.  I don't look as good as she does but I am just as comfortable!!  The hand-painted sandals are probably way too expensive for my budget but I do appreciate the art.  I think I'll choose pair #2.  What are your thoughts?

Peace and Hugs!

Precious Lord, take my hand...

A Fallish Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thank you, Joyce, for today's questions!  Y'all can join in HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 521

From this Side of the Pond

1. It's officially fall y'all. In the northern hemisphere anyway. Any signs of it where you are?  No.  Florida. What's your favorite thing about this time of year? Here in central Florida, it does get a bit cooler and less humid but not until mid-October, usually. October is when Snowbird Season starts...

2. Have you visited any 'falls' in person? Tell us about one of your favorites? Of the following top ten famous falls (according to this site ) which would you most like to see in person-  Just Niagara Falls, three or four times. Beautiful and powerful.  There are lots of lovely falls to see in the USA, without traveling to another country.  Our hostess, Joyce, has shared photos of many!!

Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe/Zambia), Igazu Falls (Argentina/Brazil), Niagara Falls (US/Canada), Angel Falls (Venezuela), Yosemite Falls (California), Dettifoss (Iceland) Kaieteur Falls (Guyana), Plitvice Waterfalls (Croatia), Gullfoss-Golden Falls (Iceland), or Sutherland Falls (New Zealand)

3. What's something you'll miss about summer?  Really, not a thing.

4. A favorite fall recipe?  My mom's pumpkin bread.  The recipe is in the recipe page above.  It is the only pumpkin thing I really love.

5. Something you enjoy but lately have allowed it to 'fall by the wayside'? Pasta. I am trying to watch carb intake so am passing on pasta lately.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I am finishing Season 3 of The Chosen.  If you haven't watched this amazing series about Jesus (New Testament), I highly recommend it.  It is so well done.

Peace and Hugs!

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28–30).

The Tuesday 4...

Toni started it and Annie continues the Tuesday 4!  Thanks, Annie!  Join in HERE!

An Autumn Day

Hi friends.  The weeks go by quickly and summer has turned to autumn so fast it's amazing.  It is time for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

We have an invitation for a weekend at our friend's estate...

1.  We have a choice of skeet shooting, horseback riding, a sail on their lake, or games on the lawn like lawn tennis, croquette, etc.    Are you interested in one or will you stay at the house reading or talking with friends? I will go horseback riding, then take a sail on the lake.  I could also be up for a game of croquette.

2.  In the afternoon there is a hayride to enjoy fall colors and pumpkin or apple picking.  Which one suits you best?  The hayride would be fun and I'll take an apple if someone else picks it!!  Not into pumpkins so much.

3.  In the evening there will be a choice of movies in their screening room.  What movie gets your vote?  I'll go along with the majority.  I enjoy movies and would only complain if it's science fiction.

4.  Our last night there is a costume ball.  What will your costume or character be?  I am pretty sure something came up and I had to leave early.  I am not into costume parties. Spoilsport...

Peace and Hugs!

We'll join the everlasting song,
And crown Him Lord of all.

Monday's Weekend Recap...

A very lazy weekend is behind me.  I did get some of the "den" sorted through but there is so much still to be done.

This is the first bunch that will go out tonight for trash pick up in the morning.

This is stuff I've pulled out and still need to sort through some more.

Miles to go...

I did not go to church on Sunday.  Not that I'm feeling bad but just because I am coughing, ugly coughing, and didn't want to disturb anyone.  So, I did laundry and continued streaming Grantchester, on PBS.

I am working eight hours today because I have Friday off to head up to my sister's house in Georgia.  I also have the following Monday off and will make up that time on Tuesday.  We are SO excited to have tickets to see Sean Dietrich/Sean of the South in concert!!  We both love his writing and music.  I will have pictures!!

This is a big birthday week.  Daughter-in-law Darlene's, my sister-in-law Jo Anne's, and my daughter-in-love Kali's  - they will all be celebrating.  Cards are in the mail.

Wishing you all a good week ahead! Thanks for checking in!!

Peace and Hugs!

Praise God from  Whom all blessings flow...

The Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in HERE.

Answer the Phone

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every
Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Answer the Phone (2001)

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1) This song likens a relationship to a roller coaster ride. When did you most recently visit an amusement park?  I went to Disney's Magic Kingdom last November to celebrate my gr-great niece's 5th birthday.  It was lots of fun being with family but that is where I picked up covid and had to cancel Thanksgiving dinner at my house. I got through 32 months without getting covid but all it took was the crowds at Disney to ruin my healthy run.

2) Lead singer Mark McGrath reasons that his girl should answer the phone because he knows she's home. That was decades ago, when most homes still had landlines. Where were you when you took your last call? Were you at home?  Yes, I was at home.

3) He remembers the glow of her face when he gave her a rose. Have you recently given or received a gift of flowers or a plant?  No.  I don't have a place to display flowers or plants because I have two cats.  I sometimes will take flowers to a party but usually take a bottle of wine.

4) Sugar Ray's debut CD was called Lemonade and Brownies. Crazy Sam admits she'd prefer milk with her brownie. What about you? Does the combination of lemonade and brownies sound good to you?  Lemonade would not taste good with brownies to me. I'm not fond of lemon anyway.  I'll take that glass of milk, please.

5) In 2005, Mark McGrath was a guest judge on American Idol. At one time, Idol was the dominant singing competition show. Today, in addition to American Idol, viewers can also watch The Voice and America's Got Talent. Are you a fan of any or all of these shows?  I love The Voice. I don't watch the others, though did watch American Idol for the first three or four seasons, which were years and years ago.

6) Sugar Ray is a famous name in boxing circles. Sugar Ray Robinson and  Sugar Ray Leonard were both world championships. Are you a boxing fan?  I am not a fan of boxing.

7) In 2001, when this song was popular, the Leaning Tower of Pisa reopened to the public after more than a decade of renovations. Have you ever been to Italy?  Yes!  If yes, where did you go?  Venice, Florence, Rome, and a few other lesser known places, including a winery in Tuscany.  If not, is a trip to Italy on your wish list?  I loved going to Italy and am so glad Joe and I made that trip.  I doubt I will ever travel overseas again.  If I did, I would go to Scotland and Ireland.

8) Also in 2001, Liverpool's Speke Airport was renamed John Lennon Airport. Liverpool's is the first airport in the United Kingdom to be named after an individual. Tell us about something in your hometown that is named after someone.  The Frances Langford Prominade; George Jenkins Blvd., Frank Lloyd Wright Way...

9) Random Question: Is the screen on your cell phone cracked?
No, thank goodness! I do keep a protective film on the screen and a sturdy case because I do drop it now and then.

Peace and Hugs!

I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands.
I'd rather be led by His nail pierced hand.

Friday Fotos...

Once again, I have been remiss in taking new photos to share.  After two weeks away, I met up with the Mas Verde group last night for dinner.  We went to Fish City Grill.  There were seven of us.  Sharon and Larry, Tim and Judy, Sharon P., Jennifer, and me.  Jennifer is a friend and neighbor of Sharon P.  It was nice having a new face join us!  Everyone was happy with their meals.  I had Chipoltle Shrimp Tacos.  They were very spicy and very good!  That's the one new photo I have...

I have nothing planned for the weekend but think I might get started on the "den" and finally get it sorted and shifted around.  I've been putting it off for months.  I've been turning Joe's office area into my 'sewing & crafts' room (aka junk room).  One of those start-three-piles sorting:  keep, toss, donate.  We'll see how it goes!!

Peace and Hugs!

Crown Him with many crowns,
The lamb upon the throne:
Hark! How the heav'nly anthem drowns
All Music but its own!

Whimsical Fashion Spree 2023...

There isn't a linky and there aren't any rules.
Check out the dress and pick the shoes you like best.
It is all for fun and just a whimsical thing!
Photos are from the Storybook of Dreams and Beauty.

Myrna Loy was well-known as Nora Charles in The Thin Man (1934), as well as many other roles. She looks so elegant in this vintage winter white. Which shoes might she have chosen to wear if these were available back then? Count down 1-2-3 and tell us which ones you like best for Myrna.

My thoughts: I did not pick these shoes and wonder what the person who did pick them was thinking.  I will go with pair #1.  Publicity photos back in the golden years of Hollywood were done so well.  Elegance, beauty, class, and modesty.  We could use some of that today, I think.  Which shoes do you pick?  It's all for fun!

Peace & Hugs!

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
And what a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer

The Hodgepodge...

Thanks to Joyce for today's Hodgepodge!!  You can join in HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 520

From this Side of the Pond

1. If your life had a theme song for this past year what would it be?

2. Chocolate cake, chocolate milkshake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate truffle, chocolate mousse, chocolate candy bar, or a fudgy chocolate brownie...of the chocolate treats listed, which one is your favorite?  You had me at chocolate.  Which one have you tasted most recently?  Chocolate Ice Cream. Or maybe you don't like chocolate???  I have loved chocolate my whole life.

3. What has surprised you recently?  Gosh, I don't know. Not much surprises me anymore.  I guess I am surprised at how easy the cataract surgery went. Praise God!

4. September 19th is National Voter Registration Day in the US. Are you registered to vote in whatever state or country you happen to live in right now?  Yes. If not, why not? Not counting a political race, what's something you've had to vote on recently?  I haven't had to vote on anything recently.

5. Do you like to hike?  Not so much anymore.  If so, when's the last time you went hiking and where'd ya go? If you're not a hiker are you a walker? I like to walk, now that my knees are new but I don't walk in the heat.  Is walking (for exercise, etc.) part of your daily/weekly routine?  It should be and may be again when I don't have to go to work in the mornings.

6. Insert your own random thought here. On Saturday, when I was feeling pretty punky, I placed a grocery order with Kroger delivery.  This was my fourth order with them.  It was delivered yesterday afternoon.  I can't say enough about how great it is.  The driver has always been polite.  They bring the groceries in and ask where they can put them down.  Frozen food is still frozen.  I had two dozen eggs in this order and not one was cracked.  The produce is fresh and perfect.  Now that I have used up my three free deliveries, this one only cost $6.95.  I asked for it to be delivered between 2:00 and 3:00.  He was here at 2:15.  Awesome service.

Peace & Hugs!

Whatever I face
Whatever the fear
Whatever the cost
You always draw near
Whatever the pain
Whatever may come
Whatever may fall
Your love overcomes”

Tuesday 4...

Thanks to Annie for today's Tuesday 4.  You can join in HERE.

Hi Friends and welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we give you 4 questions each week to ponder and answer.  It also gives you a chance to see how other Bloggers feel about things and an opportunity to make new friends.

This week let's talk about art.

1. Are you artistic in any way and if so, how so? Knitting, crocheting, drawing, painting, writing lovely word art, home décor, lovely meals?  There are many ways to be artistic.  I can copy things and follow directions but don't consider myself creative.  I love art, worked in an art museum for 20 years, and do dabble in painting, jewelry making, and can crochet.

2. Does any art hang on your walls or grace your tables or shelves at home? How about your front door or windows.. what about your yard?  There is lots of art in my house on the walls, and shelves.

3. Do you have a favorite artist or artists, and do you have a favorite piece of art?  I can't pick one piece of art as a favorite, but I do love Nedobeck.  If you click on the link HERE you will know why I like him.  He was the Mayfaire T-shirt and poster artist one year and I met him in person.  I have a few of his prints around the house.

4.  Home décor can be art. When you bought things for your home did you plan out the décor or did it all just fall together? Was there a theme?  No theme and many of my furniture pieces are from consignment stores.  I did study interior decorating a hundred years ago and love HGTV make-over shows so I do try to coordinate things.  I am more traditional and lean to comfort.  You can put your feet up and you can eat in my living room.  LOL

-----------------------------------

Update on my cold:  I made it through work okay yesterday.  Feeling better and refuse to let it get me down this week.  Done whining.  Thanks for the prayers.  I heard from my sister, Patti, last night.  She and her husband both have covid.  They are doing okay but if you think about them during prayer time, please include a return to good health for Patti and Greg.  xo

Peace & Hugs

Trust and obey...

Monday's Weekend Recap...

Last week, I thought I was beating down this cold.  I wasn't coughing, blowing, or feeling bad. Just a little congested.  On Friday, I met up for lunch with former museum co-workers, Pal and Gregory.  It was fun catching up with them and seeing photos of the addition that is going on. It's a multi-million dollar addition.

When I woke up Saturday, I felt miserable.  Coughing and blowing.  I didn't go anywhere, including church.  Lots of folks have this thing. I am done with being sick. Two colds in three months is ridiculous.  This too will pass. I'm going to work.  No sick leave. I have my own office and still have masks in my desk in case someone comes in.

That's all I've got.

Thankful.

Sunday??

I did the Sunday Stealing meme and it is gone.  Oh well.  I'm still fighting this cold and I am not going to church today. Coughing and blowing and feeling crappy like you do when you have a cold (covid negative).  I'm chilling today so I can go to work tomorrow.  Gosh, I hate being sick.  I am not a good patient... because I am not patient.  Prayers welcome!!

I am sure I picked this up last week, at church.  All four of us (Wilma, Livia, Cindy, and me) have this thing and I just got an email that there won't be children's Sunday school because so many are sick.  I'm not alone in this.  Sigh.

Peace & Hugs!

The Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's Saturday 9!  You can join in HERE!

Got My Mind Set on You

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here are today's questions!

Saturday 9: Got My Mind Set On You (1987)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this song, George Harrison tells us he's willing to devote his money, patience, and time to his girlfriend. Of those three things, which can you most easily spare?  I have to say time because patience is usually on short supply, as is my money. LOL

2) This song had long been a favorite of George's. He first heard it in 1963 when visiting his sister in the United States. He couldn't get the tune out of his mind and bought the record by James Ray. Do you have an earworm -- a song that, once you hear it, keeps repeating in your head?  Nope.

3) Months later, in February 1964, the Beatles made their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. 73 million viewers saw them, and an astonishing 45.3% of the TV sets in America were tuned in to the show. In addition to the Beatles, Ed Sullivan used his show to introduce Elvis, The Rolling Stones, and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show ran for 23 years and reruns are now shown in syndication. Have you ever seen it?  Ed Sullivan was on our TV every week, and I was one of those 73 million who watched the Beatles debut on American TV.

4) While most of the best-loved and most recognized Beatles songs were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, it was George who penned "Something." Frank Sinatra called that song "the greatest love song of the last 50 years." What's your favorite love song?  When A Man Loves a Woman (Percy Sledge or Michael Bolton)

5) This praise represented a big change for Frank, who predicted in 1964 that the Beatles would be "of no lasting importance." Tell us about something you have changed your mind about.  I don't know if I've changed my mind about things, or just changed my course over these last two years without Joe in my life.  I'm stronger and (perhaps) a little smarter.  I HOPE I'm smarter.

6) Tom Petty, who went on to have more than 25 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, credits George Harrison as a major influence on his music. Tell us about someone who influenced your professional life.  Y'all are tired of me saying "Joe" but he really influenced me during my 20 years at the Museum.  I was not a trained accountant.  He was a CPA and taught me so much, gave me the courage to become more than a bookkeeper, and to believe in myself.  I miss him and his wise counsel every day and in every way.

7) In 1987, when George's recording of "I Got My Mind Set on You" was popular, a squirrel unexpectedly made headlines. The furry fellow closed down the Nasdaq Stock Exchange when he chewed through a phone line. Do you often see squirrels where you live?  There are squirrels everywhere.  They are cute and they also cause lots of damage.

8) Also in 1987, third-generation race car driver Marco Andretti was born. Naturally, the skills required by a race car driver are unique. For example, while we know he can control a car at upwards of 230 mph at Indy, we have no idea if Marco Andretti is good at parallel parking in front of the local post office. How about you? Do you struggle with parallel parking?  I can usually parallel park okay but I am happier to pull through!! LOL

9) Random question: When you woke up this morning, were you ready to face the day? Or do you wish you could have rolled over and snoozed a little longer?  I've always been a morning person so am usually ready to face the day.  I am looking forward to sleeping a little later than 5:30 when I can "retire" again one of these days.

Peace & Hugs

Bearing all the guilt of sinful man?

Friday Fotos...

My FB friends know this already but I saw the Ophthalmologist yesterday, after work, and my eye is healing well.  My right eye is scheduled for October 11th.  She did a quick eye test and said, that even though I requested to stay near-sighted, my distance vision has improved a bit. That's a good thing.  I won't get new glasses until the second eye is done and healed.

Now, for photos...

Vinny was looking quite handsome for this photo a couple of days ago.

In the mornings, I open the back door for the boys to look out and they can hear the birds and watch the lizards.  I leave it open while I have my breakfast and read the newspaper.

Speaking of lizards, this little guy paid me a visit at work a few days ago.

That's all I've got!  I'm having lunch today with a couple of friends who still work at the Museum.  Pal is the Deputy Director and Gregory is my techie friend.  I haven't seen Pal since Mayfaire so am looking forward to catching up with her and her family.  We're meeting at Tapatio's.  Saturday and Sunday are wide open and that makes me happy!!  I have plenty that needs doin' here at home.

Happy Friday and Weekend!!

Peace & Hugs!

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!!
