The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

A big thanks to Joyce for this week's Hodgepodge!  Y'all can join in right HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 378

From this Side of the Pond

1.  Do you think the pandemic has had any kind of positive impact on your mental health? Explain.
I'm not sure the pandemic has had any kind of impact on my mental health, positive or negative.  We are retired, don't travel much, and are happy at home.  I don't feel one way or the other.

2. A hot mess, hot under the collar, in hot water, hot button, hot diggity dog!, hotshot, hot seat....choose one and tell us how it applies to your life currently.  I get hot under the collar when I hear the news so I have stopped listening. I also don't read the front page of the paper OR the op-ed pieces.  Makes life less stressful.

3. Speaking of the hot seat, do you work well under pressure, or do you actively avoid high-pressure situations?   I  do work well under pressure but don't have too much pressure now that I'm retired.

4. Hotdogs-yay or nay? If you said yay how do you like yours? Did you know July is National hotdog month?  I did not know it is hot-dog month but Joe and I both like hotdogs.  I buy all-beef Nathan's and we like them with mustard and relish.  If I have kraut or chili we like them that way too.

5. I read here a list of America's coolest Southern towns. They are Marfa Texas, Greenville South Carolina, Abingdon Virginia, Athens Georgia, Bentonville Arkansas, Florence Alabama, Oxford Mississippi, Abita Springs Louisiana, Wilmington North Carolina, Monroeville Alabama, McMinnville Tennessee, Natchez Mississippi.  How many on the list have you seen in person? Which town on the list would you most like to see?  I have not been to any of those towns and without doing a little research on each of them, I can't really pick one that I would like to visit. None of them jump out at me right now.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.  Speaking of hot dogs, what's for dinner tonight?  Today is a busy day for us with the farm visit (Joe's client) in the morning and the plumber here to install the toilets this afternoon (praise God!).  I'm thinking of take-out from somewhere.  Give me some ideas!!

Thanks for your visit!
Peace & hugs!  God bless!!

  1. Goodness, this Hodgepodge went from politics, work, hot dogs and toliets! LOL We had our dinner delivered last night and it was so good not to have to change clothes and go out. After a busy day, that might work for you too.

  3. I love a good hot dog, Terri! As for the news, I do listen to the Rush Limbaugh show for the real news, and he always helps me to make sense of it all.
    Blessings!

  6. The country seems so divided now between people who think the whole Covid thing is a hoax and those who believe everything they're being told. As for food, pizza sounds so good that I'm going to make one tonight. I use Food for Life GF tortillas so it's really easy! Have a good day there. It's 57 here. I'm wearing a sweater And a robe!! Lol

    1. I couldn't agree with you more about the division you mentioned. I personally think that the virus itself is real, but it sure is being used by the forces of evil to divide people in so many ways. It is very disheartening to me to see so many just believing everything they are told and just falling into line.

57! Wow! A couple of the nights we were in Nevada got down into the 30s. Not happening here in NH, however.

  7. Have fun at the farm.
I love Chicago Dogs. We have one Chicago Dogs here in GA that we go to for special treats.
Covid - I think it makes everything stressful - I think mostly things are hurt by it - but I am sure too there must be some good coming from it. I have to trust that.
And I agree with you - I don't listen to the news either!

  8. Wow, a lot of questions. I do like hotdogs...I like them with beans, or slaw, or chili...or just mustard. I am tired of COVID talk. Had enough of it. Want it to GO AWAY! News is too disturbing anymore. Just thankful to be alive and well.

  10. Portillo's? We miss that place! I sure admire your discipline to stay away from the faux news. I hadn't thought about chili dogs ... maybe I should change my answer. (LOL)

  11. I'm avoiding the news too, it's far to biased for me.
I like hotdogs, grilled with ketchup, mayo and relish.
I made some yummy chicken tonight and will post the recipe next week.

  12. I try to stay away from the news also. So much of it is so slanted and sensationalized. Just trying to always keep in mind that this is in God's control, He has some good purpose in allowing it, and praying that purpose is accomplished soon.

We eat very few hot dogs, but the all natural ones are yummy. I prefer a toasted or grilled bun (if I eat a bun, which I don't always) and mustard, sometimes relish.

  13. We have very little options in the way of take out. There are places to get take out but most are a 20 minute drive so might as well cook at home. I have done a whole lot of cooking! Hubs grills a few times a week too which helps. I don't even think we can call the news news anymore. I catch headlines and avoid the news as much as possible. I used to feel like I should watch some to know what's going on but it's all so biased and opinion-filled now there's really no point. Enjoy your day at the farm!
