The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thanks to Joyce for today's Hodgepodge!!  Y'all can be a Hodgepodger by clicking HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 531

From this Side of the Pond

1. Did you do more talking or more listening yesterday?  Maybe listening won out.  Was it by choice or by necessity?  Yesterday, neither of those.  We have some good conversations at work and we all respect each other's views and experience.  I am blessed to have coworkers who have become friends.  Other times, I do try to listen more than talk.

2. Are you a tea drinker?  Iced tea.  Hot, cold, or both?  Cold.  I can drink hot tea, but usually only when I have a cold.  Flavored?  No. Straight up tea.  What do you like in your tea?  Just some Splenda.  Do you make Christmas tea this time of year?  No. Not even sure what that is.   What time of day do you like to sip your tea?  When I am sick, any time for hot tea.  Iced tea is my drink of choice, always.

3. What's an activity you won't try, an event you won't attend, or an athletic challenge you won't take part in not even for 'all the tea in China'I don't do anything athletic anymore so no to any athletic challenge.  I don't attend many events anymore because I don't like the crowds.  The last "crowd" I was in (Disney) sent me home with covid.  I won't try base-jumping or rock climbing, for sure!  Remember that!!   LOL

4. What's something most people seem to love but is not 'your cup of tea'?  Playing games.  Card games, board games...  I will play but if I never played another game of any kind, I wouldn't miss it.  I enjoy it when I do and like the camaraderie but I really don't care about the game.

5. How does your family celebrate New Year's Eve?   In the old days, Mom and Dad would host my aunt and uncle and cousins.  Speaking of games, Monopoly was always played by us kids.  We listened to Guy Lombardo and watched the ball drop.  These later years... maybe I will watch the ball drop and maybe I won't. Depends when the yawns start and how loud my bed is calling.  I miss Guy Lombardo!!   LOL

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Eggnog.  My heart got all fluttery in Publix the other day when I saw the eggnog in with the milk and creamers.  Joe dearly loved eggnog and drank it (plain with no alcohol!!) non-stop during the holidays, from the first time we saw it in the store.  I can't stand the stuff but he could make a half-gallon disappear in two or three days.  I almost bought some just to have it in the fridge.  One of those silly things that happen now and then.  Some of you know what I mean.  Sigh.  I'm okay and don't mean to be a downer.  That is just the random thought I had.  Time stood still for a few seconds.  It still happens.  Almost three years. How can that be?!

Peace and Hugs!

Have a blessed day!!
The  SON is shining!!

  1. That's funny about board games because I miss playing them. Steve doesn't like them either. That's OK. I can live without them.
The eggnog thought in the grocery store brought a tear to my eye too. How precious. As for the actual eggnog, I'm a big fan of it too. We have a Keto recipe and make our own. It's super easy and still delightful.
Have a Merry Christmas dear. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming back soon.
    Blessings. xx

  2. I'm with Sparky. I like to play games, but Bob is like you and would be fine never doing it again. He will play, but not his favorite thing!
Aww on the eggnog. I can see how things like that would hit you. A sweet memory but it stings too. We both are fans of eggnog here.

  3. I enjoy games on my phone, but board games, not so much any more. Hubby doesn't enjoy playing either. If I'm with others and that's what they want to do, I'm game. I can't even imagine all the things that trigger those memories of someone you love so much. Merry Christmas!

  4. I had lost my interest in games until I retired in Florida.... Mexican Train - a form of dominos - is all the rage and actually got to enjoy it. We have a group here that plays and anyway, its about the company in the end. It's a tough time of year for many.

    1. Mexican Train is popular here too. I have the game (and many others) in the closet. It is fun and the company is always the best part.

  5. Like Cathy, I enjoy playing Wordle, etc. on my phone -- not so much board games or cards. In fact, when my son and family moved I gave them all I had ... some still wrapped in cellophane.
I love egg nog (non-alcoholic), but allow myself only one quart a year. Will power's weak, but I'm saving it for Christmas Eve ... and may have an extra glass for Joe!

  6. My stepson. Nicco, adores egg nog. When he was living with us, I can't begin to tell you how many gallons we went through in a season. I used to put egg nog in my morning coffee - think I'll just have to buy a half-gallon this Christmas to enjoy this treat again, Terri. I'll think of Joe every time I do.
    Blessings!

  8. We never stop missing the ones we love. My hubs wants to try making homemade eggnog this year. He will add some bourbon to his though. I've never loved eggnog. I hope you have a merry Christmas Terri. Thank you for your card!
