The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thanks to Joyce for today's fun Hodgepodge!  You can be a Hodgepodger HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 529

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's one fun thing on your December calendar?  Just one?  I have two Christmas parties coming up on the next two Saturdays.  There is a  pizza party at work to celebrate a co-worker's birthday (and mine!).  Yes, my birthday is coming up.  The big 72, folks.  How did that happen?  I am blessed to have made it another year. Praise God.  And Christmas, of course!!  I am planning to have my sister here again this year and have invited a few folks for Christmas dinner.

2. Sherwin William's Color of the Year for 2024 is Upward, described as 'a hint of silver lining', 'a breezy blissful blue' (see sample here). Benjamin Moore's Color of the Year for 2024 is Blue Nova, where 'violet and blue come together in a sumptuous hue'. (see sample here) Valspar's Color of the Year for 2024 is Renew Blue, a balanced blue with a touch of grayed sea -green' (see sample here)

Seems like the design world is keen on the color blue for the new year. Do you have a lot of blue in your home decor currently?  No, not a lot of blue.  What shade?  My bedroom curtains are a light blue.   Of the three colors listed which one's your favorite?  I'm more drawn to the Blue Nova.  Do you need to paint?  Yes, I do need to paint.  How likely is it you'd select one of these shades for your home? Which one?  I won't be using any of those blues.

3. Do you struggle with 'the seasonal blues'? What are some things you do to try to beat the blues?  I've never had a problem with seasonal blues and certainly not here in Florida.  We rarely have any of those over-cast gray days that I remember from up north.

4. Blue jeans...love 'em or no?  I LOVE them!!  How many pair do you own?  Without going to my closet to count, I will guess six or seven pair.  Are you married to a particular brand?  Not to a specific brand but they must be stretch!! LOL

5. In terms of holiday preparation (baking, shopping, wrapping, mailing, meal planning, etc) how far along are you?   My shopping has started but I don't have that much shopping to do.  1=haven't given it a second thought, 10=nothing left to do but wait.  I will say #6.  Baking will be later.  I don't wrap, I bag!!  Meal planning is easy because I always do ham.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

My two boys are keeping me company as I type... (wink)

Vinny above and Casper below...

Peace and Hugs!

Wishing you a blessed day!
The SON is shining!!

  1. I am glad wrapping gifts has gone by the wayside for many adult gift giving. I recall the stickers we used to try to close the ends of packages...before scotch tape was deemed acceptable! My I am showing my age.. :)

  2. We plan to paint our guest room and I'm looking for a shade of blue... but not quite ready to think about that now! :)
I've been blessed to not deal with "The blues".
I need to do cards and wrap gifts yet.
    The boys look very content.

  3. Stretch jeans are a must, but I wear mostly stretchy other kind of pants. Black is my standard color or navy blue. Must be comfortable. Wrapping is a chore that I save til the last hours...I do use a lot of bags, but some things don't fit in bags so I have to wrap. I am not good at it and they never look very good, but my guys just rip off the wrapping anyway, so who cares??? I am so glad your sister is coming. Oh...your birthday!!! I know it's coming, but what day??? I am not good at remembering these things. You are still younger than me. LOL. Have a happy birthday when it gets here. How nice they are having a party at work!! You are blessed. Love the kitties. Happy WEdnesday.

  5. Your Christmas plans sound nice. We won't be with our girls this Christmas day, but will celebrate with my siblings and mom and I'm really looking forward to that. We haven't all been together on Christmas day in a very long time. Enjoy your parties and happy birthday...you know I like to extend the fun : )

  6. Funny, I just peeked in my tickler file this morning and yep -- there you are! We 'get' to be the same age for 3 months.
I love my stretch jeans; almost as much as I do leggings. Thank you so much for telling me about them 4 years ago!
Comfy pants and gift bags are definitely among my Favorite Things.

  7. Yes, the boys are keeping you company as they nap, but you better believe they will know it if you leave your chair!!! (smile) As for question #4, I've been wearing Gloria Vanderbilt jeans almost exclusively for many years (also their capri skimmers and bermuda shorts). They fit my form and budget.
