Weekend Recap on Monday...

Even when retired, the weekends go much too fast!  But here we are at another Monday with another week ahead to count our blessings, and to be a blessing.

Just as last week and weekend were lazy and not busy, so was this past weekend.  We had no appointments and no social engagements.  But I did get a few projects done around the house that I have been procrastinating.

I did some caulking, with Joe's help, since it required my being on a ladder.  I cleaned three litter boxes... I clean them out every day, but they needed to be wiped out and wiped down. Got that done... nasty business.  I also got the laundry done, which seems to have turned into a Saturday chore each week, now.

I had Joe bring the carpet cleaner in from the shed and finally steam cleaned the rug in our front entrance.  We have had this rug for over 20 years and it graced our foyer in the old house. I do love it and was happy it fit perfectly at our front door here, though we rarely used our front door at the old house, and here we use it all the time.  I have always said when the white cats turn black, it is time to steam clean.  Well, they don't really get black, but they sure get dingy. Nice to have them clean again!  Can you tell why I love this rug...

We had our usual afternoon rains and I snapped this photo while Joe was getting the mail on Saturday.  You can see the dark clouds forming...

This week, we DO have appointments.  Joe gets another Echo-cardiogram on Tuesday,  We have the farm (Joe's client) and haircuts on Wednesday.  Hoping the Echo doesn't show deterioration of the aortic valve so we can buy some more time before he has to have surgery. Praying about it!!

And, I also have a prayer request for my prayer warriors here, please.  I write about Helen and Cheryl frequently.  Helen (and her late husband) have been friends of ours for nearly 30 years. We knew them before we bought a house here in Lakeland.  Her hubby was a CPA so he and Joe were fast friends.  We look after Helen and her business affairs now.  We are pleased that her niece, Cheryl, lives with her.  Helen is 90 years old, but not impaired mentally or physically. She only takes one medication and gets around better than I do.

That said, Cheryl is scheduled for open heart surgery (valve replacement) on the 19th of September.  Of course, we are all concerned for her and her health, but Helen is anxious about Cheryl AND anxious about herself.  We have made plans for Helen to stay with us each night Cheryl is in the hospital (probably seven days) and will make sure we see Cheryl in the hospital each day, give Helen some time at her house in the afternoons, and will make sure she eats well.  When Cheryl gets home, we have strongly suggested that she have home health care for a while.  She will have six weeks of healing ahead and won't be able to work.  In between, Helen, Joe and I will also have appointments to get to.  It will take some coordination, but is not impossible.  We will be running in several directions, though.  Prayers for us all will be greatly appreciated and especially for Cheryl and her surgical team.  Thank you!!  (We are also watching how this goes for Cheryl because Joe will most likely be facing the same sooner rather than later.)
