My Weekend Recap on Monday!

Our last few days have been spent going back and forth to the hospital, Helen's house, and home again but it has been done with joy in our hearts.  Cheryl came through the surgery just fine and is recovering nicely. When we were visiting yesterday, she had already been up walking and had most of the tubes and IVs removed. She is eating semi-solids and will be going to a private room today.  We are encouraged by her positive attitude and determination!  She knows some of you have been praying for her and told me to say thank you!

Yesterday morning when we were having some breakfast, I looked up and saw this...

Vinny sometimes finds his way to the top of the kitchen cupboards, via the refrigerator. He thinks he is incognito and the top cat.  Helen laughed at him.

I took Helen to her United Methodist church yesterday, and everyone wanted to know how Cheryl was doing. It was nice that they cared and I know it made Helen feel good.  After church, we went straight to the hospital and were so happy to see Cheryl sitting up with most of the tubes out.  She will be moved to a room on the cardiac care floor this morning.

Helen's church is very pretty inside but it is really sad that they only have around 40 people attending on a regular basis. I'm surprised they haven't had to merge with another UMC in town. There are many.  The quilted hangings in the church are so pretty.

Today, I get to see my cardiologist for my 6-month check-up.  I'll do that at 9:00 a.m., then come home to pick up Helen and to hopefully find Cheryl on the 4th floor (cardiac care) in a private room.

Tonight we are hosting a pizza party for our immediate neighbors.  Sharon and Bob are bringing an appetizer and salad, Joe and I are buying the pizza and I baked a yellow cake and put a chocolate ganache on it.  Anne and Paul are back home after being up in New York for the last three months. We just thought we should have a get-together to welcome them home.  I'm sure we will have fun!

Tomorrow, I have my first physical therapy session to start working on strengthening my knees. We will see how it goes!  I also need to get Helen to her eye doctor appointment, and of course, we will visit the hospital to see Cheryl.  Joe is hanging in there and goes with us sometimes and sometimes he just stays at home (and enjoys it).

How was your weekend?  Thanks for your visit!  Peace & hugs.

  4. You will receive a special blessing for helping Helen and Cheryl, and so glad to hear Cheryl is doing so well. Praying the PT will help your knees, and also that you get a good report from the cardiac doc. Wishing you a good week ahead.

  5. Good news! Thanks for sharing. I agree about the lovely churches that are mostly empty. The beautiful Methodist church Marvin grew up in was sold and now is a VENUE for concerts, weddings etc. It makes me sad just thinking about when that church was full of families. Good luck with your knee strengthening. My dad did those before he had his knee replacement and it really made a big difference in his recovery.

  6. You are so kind to those around you.. Hope you have a good visit with your doctor, and all is well.. PT did wonders for my rotator cuff. I know this is in preparation for your surgery, and I am a big believer in PT.. Has helped me a number of times.

  7. How CUTE is Vinny! All this running must be tiring … but in a GOOD way, too. Not having to worry about her aunt must do wonders for Cheryl's morale! Your pizza party sounds like a great idea, Terri. We've only met one of our neighbors, but now you've got me pondering ….

Prayers for good news from your cardiologist!

  8. Love the picture of Vinny, a king watching his kingdom! The church is very pretty and it's sad the congregation is so small. Financially they might have to eventually merge with another church. You are a busy lady, hope all goes well for you today.

    Blessings, Terri!

  10. I'm happy with all these good reports. And Vinny is so cute - makes me smile! You know us cat lovers can all imagine our own cats acting the same way. :)
That church is beautiful. It's really sad the membership is declining so.

  11. I'm so happy to hear how well Cheryl is doing!

That picture of Vinny is SO CUTE!!

I'm amazed how easily you host neighborhood things. I'm afraid I'm not a very good neighbor. Maybe if I were at home more often it would make a difference.

Let me tell you, from experience, merging small churches together is no easy undertaking. There is incredible resistance from older people who feel ownership. I have lost some very dear friends in the process. We are still friends, but they no longer attend and are no longer in my choir and I am sad, sad, sad!!!!
