I'm writing this on Thursday night. I'm happy to be sitting in my recliner with most of the kitchen put back together and the dishwasher on. Everyone wanted to help clean up, but it is so much easier for me to just get to it after everyone leaves. I know the hows and wheres, and it just always seems easier to do it myself. Am I the only one who turns down help? I had everyone take leftovers before they left, so most of the food was gone, and it was easy to finish putting away what was left (still enough for me to eat the next four days!). Everyone brought food to share, and it was all delicious!
I took a few pictures but didn't get a group photo, and just realized I didn't get one of the two pies we had for dessert (pumpkin and pecan). It was all so good, thanks to many hands.
The dining room table, set for six.
The buffet where I put the pies. One on each side.
The kitchen table, set for five. I called it the kids' table.
I will finish putting the Fall decorations away today, and will begin to get the Christmas decorations out. Shirley is coming over on Saturday to watch Cindee's memorial service on Facebook with me. We will have turkey sandwiches for our lunch!

You had a wonderful day, my friend and that makes my heart so happy. Wishing you a lovely Friday. ☺
ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect day for you and your company, my friend! You had it looking beautiful! I prefer to clean up myself as well. I have a rhythm and a system that works well for me. Isn't sitting in your favorite chair with the dishwasher running, and leftovers in the fridge the best feeling?? Have a cozy weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect day. Your tables look lovely. I also like to do the cleaning up myself, although when my girls are here it's easy - they know where everything goes!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your Christmas decorating.
What a homey, delicious day! Our brisket was a hit; not so much the casseroles that I unceremoniously tossed in the trash last night.
ReplyDeleteNope, you're not the only one who kindly refuses offers of "help." My DIL's the same way, so that's a win-win.
The only time I let people help with the clearing up is Christmas day, after I've done the cooking and I am done in the kitchen! It sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving and the food looks so good!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the day was quite a success! I'm glad for you!
ReplyDeleteThat's enough food to feed an army, Terri! So glad to know you have some leftovers and can enjoy those over the next several days. Blessings!
ReplyDeletePretty settings and lots of scrumptious food! Yum. I forgot to take photos of our Thanksgiving meal and those that were there. My bad. ❤️
ReplyDeleteLike you, I prefer to serve guests buffet-style. With aging hands and joints, passing multiple dishes around the table can be precarious! And also like you, I definitely prefer cleaning up the kitchen by myself after it's all over. As you said, we know the how's and why's we do things.
ReplyDeleteThat all looks mighty nice and good! So neat and organized! We had 10 here for dinner and I never turn down help. I don't have a dishwasher, so I need all the help I can get! LOL. I'm so thankful for our son Scott, who digs right in and starts washing dishes right away. Then my sweet DIL Rose took care of putting away the leftovers and washing up the pots and pans while I was outside walking around with my sister and niece. We had a lot of leftovers and sent some home with everyone, and still have plenty left for us. It was a great day, but I am literally exhausted and am just now trying to organize my pictures, so I can write a post. Hopefully it will be done today! LOL. Happy Thanksgiving dear friend.
ReplyDeleteOh Terri - such a wonderful table setting and group of friends. I am so glad you had a great day. I like to do my own cleaning too.
ReplyDeleteI am certain it was a good day. I second the cleaning by myself. I ca usually whip through it in no time because I have my routine.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful table setting and delicious food buffet!!
ReplyDeleteDear Terri, beautiful photos, what a lovely time...and feast ♥️
