October 4th: The Tuesday 4...

Thanks to Annie for today's four questions!  You can join the fun by clicking HERE!

Music and You

Tuesday 4 is hosted in memory of Toni Taddeo, who started it a few years ago, and I hope you will join in with us each week. It is a great way to visit new bloggers, make friends, and discover new and interesting things about your friends.

The topic for this week's Tuesday 4 meme is Music..

1. Do you play a musical instrument?  Not anymore, but I played trumpet in junior and high school bands.  Loved it.

2. Have you taken music lessons?  Yes. What kind.  I started playing the trumpet in 5th grade.  I also took piano lessons for a little while and organ lessons.  I did not stick with keyboards.  If not, is there one you might enjoy learning? It is never too late to start.  You might be surprised at how accomplished it will make you feel.  No, it's never too late, but the motivation has to be there, and I'm a bit lacking!

3. Is there music in your home as background to your day's activities, or do you have music playing in your car, etc.?  If so, what kind of music do you enjoy hearing?
What kind of music do you NOT like?  I don't have music in the house very often.  I put Sirius on the TV quietly when I have guests over.  I have SiriusXM in the car and do listen when driving alone.  I am not into classical, opera, or rap.  I listen mainly to classic rock, classic country, and Smoky's Soul Town on Sirius.  I have a Praise channel programmed in, too, but some of it is a little too much for me.  I prefer old-time gospel or hymns like the Gaithers sing.  I do have an Alan Jackson CD with hymns, and I can sing along with it!  Think Tennessee Ernie Ford and The Statler Brothers...

4.  Do you have a favorite composer or genre of music that you like most? Maybe you like several. Please share with us your thoughts?  Think 60s... Blood Sweat & Tears, Three Dog Night, Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Alabama, Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Temptations...

Thanks for your visit!!

Peace and Hugs!

Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art!

  1. I had piano lessons when I was a child but never stuck with it. I listen to music while I am in the kitchen, usually I just put the radio on.

  3. Loved all those 60's musicians...and the Beatles, I don't see them in your list! I loved them until they got too funky. I loved the Beach Boys and Rolling Stones, Simon and Garfunkle, Mamas and the Papas, and many more names I can't remember! LOL. I enjoyed your answers. Always fun to meet here each week! LOL.

  4. I also played trumpet in 5th grade but didn't stick with it. I did stick with piano and had years of lessons. We have a piano and I play for fun now.
I love that Alan Jackson Hymn album. I'm also a CCR fan.

  5. I think we share the same taste in music, Terri. I played guitar for ages, but when my joints started giving me fits, I had to stop. I still have my acoustic, though. Blessings!

  7. Nice to have music going on especially when guests are there. I always listen to Christian Music - waiting for Christmas Music.

  9. Great 60s list for music! I agree that motivation is key for most things and I find as I get older it's often lacking. Thanks for joining in!

  10. Motivation, exactly! One of the happiest days of my life was the time my parents allowed me to quit violin and piano lessons. (Haven't missed them yet.)
I do love the Statler Brothers ... singing right along!

  11. I was not able to take any kind of music lessons when I was growing up. I did sing in the school choir and in the church youth choir. We bought a piano and paid for our daughter to take piano lessons. She learned a few songs but was not motivated to practice. Our son did take guitar lessons and played through high school and into college - casually. I think he picks up the guitar every once in a while now.

  12. I'm a 60's fan as well and like you I'm not motivated to learnto play an instrument these days. I'd much rather sit back and and listen to someone else play, or be entertained as my mother would have said.
