Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 629

From this Side of the Pond
1. Let's do our gratitude question first this week...what's the best thing about your home, and have you taken time to enjoy it lately?  I enjoy my home all the time. The best thing about it is the location.  I have the best neighbors, live in a great town, have room for guests, and feel comfortable when it is just me and my two cats.  It isn't elegant.  It is lived in and loved.

2. Do you like squash? Of the varieties listed, which one's your favorite and how do you like it prepared? Is squash of some sort on your Thanksgiving menu??

acorn, butternut, delicata, spaghetti, zucchini, crookneck (yellow squash), patty pan

I don't care enough about any squash to buy it and prepare it.  If it is served to me in a restaurant or at a friend's home, I am happy to enjoy it.  I've had acorn, butternut, spaghetti, zucchini, and yellow.  Never heard of delicata or patty pan.  Squash is not on my Thanksgiving menu, but if someone brings it, I will eat some and be thankful.

3. Last time you were 'squashed in' somewhere, or felt squashed?  Probably when three people were seated in a car's backseat.  I think it may have been when I was in Ohio, in September.  Cars aren't made for three adults in the backseat anymore.

4. Have you ever played squash?  Nope.  What about other 'racquet sports' such as racquetball, tennis, pickleball, badminton, or table tennis (ping pong)? Are these sports something you enjoy?  I used to love badminton.  I have played ping pong, but I am not good at it.

5. Something in today's society or culture that feels like a 'racket' to you? If you don't like that one, tell us about a place you've been recently where there was a lot of 'racket'.  I've been getting "offers" by text message lately, telling me I have money waiting to be claimed.  Spam, spam, spam is everywhere.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.  I am still walking most mornings with my neighbors/friends, Susan and Sandy.  Took a picture of our shadows yesterday morning!  Three times a week is my goal, and more is a bonus!

Peace and Hugs!!

 In the shadow of His wings
There is rest, sweet rest;
There is rest from care and labor,
There is rest for friend and neighbor;
In the shadow of His wings
There is rest, sweet rest,
In the shadow of His wings
There is rest (sweet rest).

  1. You are so right about the size of most backseats. When I was a kid they were sprawling, or at least it felt like it. We could sit four across sometimes, probably not comfortably but still. Add in car seats and there's no room for other passengers. I'm glad you love your home Terri. Definitely makes life sweeter. Enjoy your day!

  2. You are right about backseats, 2 is enough back there.
    I love the shadow shot!

  3. "Lived in and loved" ... exactly. That's how I feel about our little home in the slow lane, too. I'm the least athletic person I know of, so #4 would be a hard 'no' for me. I love squash, but would be hard pressed to prepare; some things are still better 'store bought'!

  4. I love our home in the woods and can't imagine living anywhere else, Terri. It's wonderful that you are making a habit of walking with your friends, too. Such great exercise and fun when you can do so with buddies in tow. Blessings!

  5. Your home sounds lovely and in a fantastic location.
    My girls and fella were in the back seat of my dad's car a little while ago and realised that backseats are not made for 3 adults. hehehe

  9. I love squash...zucchini, yellow, butternut, acorn, those are the ones I like best. I think I had some patti-pan once when someone gave me some from their garden. It was okay, but nothing spectacular. We will probabl have some kind of squash on Thanksgiving. My sister likes to brink yellow squash or maybe a squash casserole. And yes, backseats of cars aren't what they used to be. I don't even know if couples can go parking in the back seat any more. LOL LOL LOL Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

  10. Great shadow photo and glad you are keeping up the walking. Well our car is definitely intended to seat 3 in the rear - there are 3 seat belts but it is definitely cosy with 3 lol.
