Books
Books are such a big part of many people's lives. Maybe we should talk about that.
1. Do you have some books in your home? I have lots of art books and crafting books. My Kindle has all of my novels. If so what subjects are they? I do have a few of my old favorites, two of which are Gone With The Wind and The Once and Future King. Which is your favorite? I have read those two books at least four times if not five.
2. Do you enjoy browsing around in bookstores? Not so much anymore. Do you have a favorite you like to go to? The only one left in Lakeland is Books a Million.
3. Do you think real books are clutter or do you just love having them around you? At one time, I was in THREE book clubs (remember those - Doubleday, etc.) and had so many books we were running out of space. I culled through them and took 85% of them to the assisted living home where my grandmother was. They were happy to get them. Now my books are on my Kindle (and accessible on my phone and computer, as well).
4. What is the oldest book you've read and what is the newest book you've read or are reading. I have to say the Bible. but I have also read several Zane Grey books. They are pretty darn old. Gone With The Wind is pretty old... 1930s. Newest might be the series I'm reading right now by David Crosby called The Will Harper Florida Thrillers. I am enjoying them. There are six books in the series.
PS: I heard from Mali yesterday that they are sending Danon home on Sunday!! That's great news. He will still have home physical therapy for a few weeks. Thanks for the prayers!!

I use to be a prolific reader. I seem to now be fascinated with Youtube and so many of the old film classics are there as well as historical documentaries. This too shall pass probably. Good news on Danon and glad he is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI love to read and like you, most of my books are on the Kindle. I really enjoy doing it that way, except that I can't share the really good ones with my co-workers who also like to read.
ReplyDeleteGreat news on Danon!
Mari, there is actually a way to share a Kindle book with another Kindle user. It's been years since I thought about it, but a friend did share a book or two with me one time. I need to look into it again!
DeleteThe printed word of all kinds is my favorite thing. It's so comforting to hold a book in one's hand and lose oneself in the story. Love that feeling. 💙
ReplyDeleteWonderful news about Danon!
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten all about those book 'clubs.' That's a great idea about donating them to senior housing. Gosh, I've so many e-books waiting in the wings to be read; all the same, I want to check out those Florida Thrillers.
Such great news about Danon! Most of my books are e-books too. Gone with the Wind is a really good book. I read it several times. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHappy news is always a blessing! Books of any kind I love them all.
ReplyDeleteThe oldest book I've read and still read is the Bible. The newest? The ones Danny ordered me for my birthday this year that are written my Fox News personalities. Boy! I have so much to read.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know that Danon is going home on Sunday, and I'll keep praying for Mali and him.
Blessings!
Barnes and Noble is the big book store in my town. I enjoy wandering through the shelves. They have some interesting, unique gifts, as well. But I don't go in there often. I have ordered more books from Amazon or ChristianBooks.com in recent years. I've just not been able to be comfortable with books on Kindle, etc.
ReplyDelete"Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes
ReplyDeleteShine through the gloom and point me to the skies
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee
In life, in death, o Lord, abide with me
Abide with me, abide with me"
I love that old hymn. Haven't sung it in a long time. Thank you for reminding me. Books are fun. I am thankful to have the ability to read and also to find good wholesome books at our public library. I would like to find some good mysteries, but again, I prefer Christian authors so they don't venture out into areas I am not too comfortable with. Or at least good old fashioned books that still have morality. The world has so much immorality everywhere I don't like to have to read about it too. LOL. Have a lovely week.
Enjoyed your answers. i enjoy my kindle books, but also the physical ones too
