Wow! It's Sunday night and I can't believe the weekend is over! Fiddlesticks!
Some of you will remember my work's Annual Fishing Derby for kids. It is always the first Saturday in April. Two years ago, I got to hold a gator... do please notice the FWC Officer standing next to me and that the mouth is taped shut. Still, it was great fun!!
Last year, the gator was younger and more feisty. She wasn't letting anyone hold it. So I visited the horses instead...
This year, I asked my boss if I could have a pass. Staff had to arrive at 7:00 a.m. and it is crazy busy. 150-200 kids were anticipated!! They have plenty of help and it really is beyond my duties, so I passed on the extra six hours. I'm tired. There has been a lot going on lately and I am also off caffeine. A new med for my injured and messed up toenail doesn't like caffeine and I was having headaches every day. I don't usually get headaches so dug into it and found that caffeine doesn't mix well with the med. Staying away from coffee has stopped the headaches. It also has me dragging a bit, which just means I need to get off it anyway. Two more months to go...
TMI, but I didn't miss being there. I got to sleep in on Saturday. I was just getting started on sorting stuff in the den when I got a phone call from Cheryl (Helen's niece). She wanted me to meet her for lunch at Burger 21 and treated me to a late (4 months late) birthday lunch. How could I turn that down? It was nice catching up with her. We didn't get to talk much when she was here for Easter dinner. Does that count as procrastination? LOL. I did get a few things shifted around and some things put away. Slow but sure.
Sunday school and church yesterday, laundry done, and meds sorted for three more weeks. That's all she wrote.
Praising God!
LOL The horse a better choice indeed. Sorry to hear of your injury..feet trouble is no fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the day off was better than dealing with lots of people! And I know you enjoyed catching up with Cheryl.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your toe! I hope it heals fast.
I gave up caffeine years ago for the headaches. I now only drink one small cup of caffeinated coffee in the morning and order a decaf brand I really like because I do love coffee. Once I got off of it I found too much made me jittery. Some days we just need that day of rest. Glad you were able to get that.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your meds require you to give up caffeine, Terri. I wouldn't like that one bit, but it might be exactly what is necessary. Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteI ate alligator for Andy's birthday. Kind of sad. I just had one piece but it was okay.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very interesting job.
I am sorry that you have a hurt toe - hope it is healed soon!

It sounds like a pretty nice weekend. You had some rest time and got some chores done and lunch with a friend. Sounds perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you took a pass and are practicing self-love! What a dilemma, having to choose between meds and caffeine. 'Not sure I could be that strong. (Yep, I'm addicted.) How nice to hear that Cheryl extended an invite and you enjoyed visiting over a good burger ... that's one of my very favorite things.
ReplyDeleteI must've missed something about your injured toenail? What happened? I don't do all the weekend meme posts and sometimes I miss stuff...sorry to hear you have a toenail issue going on. I know how painful that can be. Glad you were able to take the weekend off and not have to go to work...and that you ended up having a pleasant time with Cheryl. I am sure she enjoyed that time with you as well. I hope your toe gets well soon. did you say two months? What on earth??? Praying for you dear friend!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the toenail and needing to be off coffee. I'm glad you could get out of that big event your work place hosted.
ReplyDeleteOliver would have loved the fishing derby! We will have to visit out there again sometime! Really neat place that you work at. Love the pic with you and the gator , how many people get to do that? Fun! My crew is settling into Lakeland nicely. I'm glad the kids are getting involved with youth group and good activities. Hard to believe the oldest 3 graduated and ready for university! These next few years will be interesting for sure! Its kind of fun getting a late birthday lunch isn't it? Every day of life is a good day to celebrate being with our good friends
