Easter Monday Weekend Recap...

I'm a little late since I didn't do this post last night.  I have a few minutes this morning and will be all week catching up on blogs I haven't read yet.  I hope everyone had a blessed Resurrection Day!!

My son, Joe, arrived Thursday afternoon.  We went out with Tim and Judy for Mexican food, since Thursday is the Mas Verde dinner group gathering.  No one else could make it so it was nice to visit with Tim and Judy and enjoy Mexican cuisine.

Friday morning, Joe stayed home while I went to work.  He did my taxes for me again this year and I am blessed to not have to worry about doing it myself.  When I got home, he helped me with a list of things I've been keeping back until I had some muscle.  Friday evening, we went out to eat at a new Korean restaurant that just opened a few months ago.  It was very good and quite the experience since you cook your own food at your table.  I will go again for the fun experience, but much prefer Gosh, Asian Bistro, for Asian food.

We left there and I took him to our new Bonnet Springs Park.  We just rode the trolley around the property so he could see it...  The grounds are lovely, the event center can host 400 people, there is a Children's Museum, a butterfly building, and a boardwalk through the trees.  Lake Bonnet is also an attraction.  Of course, there is a welcome center, gift shop, coffee shop, a café, and a bar.  It is a beautiful addition to our great city!!  (I didn't edit or crop the photos.)

I got to sleep later on Saturday but had cleaning to do and Easter dinner prep to start.  My neighbors, Dee and Bill, were coming and Dee is allergic to cats so I do my best to vacuum up all the cat hair I can get to.  On Sunday, the cats are kept out of sight in the den, where they have all their needs met other than being upset about the closed door!

We ordered Chinese for dinner.  Joey told me to not cook.  Who am I to argue?!  We watched some TV and had some good talks. I am so blessed to have Joey and Jeff in my life and what a bonus to get to see both of them in March!!  (That blessing includes Darlene and Kali!!)

Easter Sunday found us at church.  Cindy took the photo before we entered the sanctuary.

I had the ham in the crockpot and when we got home, just had to get the au-gratin potatoes sliced, boiled, and ready for the oven.  I did the deviled eggs Saturday evening.  Everyone was bringing something to share so it was pretty easy to put it all together.  I'm sorry I didn't take a  photo of the food, but here is the table.  I served it buffet-style so the plates were on the counter.

The Easter Bunny left everyone a box full of fun candy.
They served as the center-pieces on the table.

Gregory set up his tripod and took our photo, with time for him
and Colby to jump into the shot!!

Gregory & Colby, me, Dee, Bill, Mary Ellen, Mike, Joey, and Cheryl.
We all ate and ate and ate some more, and sat at the table visiting
for about three hours.  It was a great time!!

That about covers it.  Joey left for home when I left for work this morning.  I will be home before he gets home.  Prayers for safe travels.  (I sent him home with left-overs!)

Peace and Hugs!!

He is Risen indeed!!

  4. Gosh, I'd say your March was a month filled with good times, good friends and good food! It's probably an 'experience', but I'm not crazy about having to pay for my dinner -- and prepare it, too. That park is gorgeous!

    1. Myra, I agree. I was disappointed to find that we had to cook our own dinner. It was fun, though. Not a place I will go unless encouraged by company.
