June 15th: Monday Musings

Mid-June already!!  I still don't know what happened to May!  But I did have a very nice weekend!

Our church women get together now and then for dinner out.  We call it "femaleship."  It's a play on 'fellowship'...  Our last dinner had around 20 people, but Friday night brought out only 8 of us.  It was a smaller group, but we had a nice time, and conversation was easier with fewer ladies.  The rain kept a few at home, while several are battling illness right now.  We prayed for all.  Our waitress took this photo...

Saturday was my friend and former neighbor's 70th birthday party!  It was well attended by their large family, and they also included several other neighbors.  It was fun reconnecting with a few folks who still live there from my old days in the neighborhood.  That included the woman who bought our house.  She lost her husband a few years ago, but is still enjoying the home.  We lived there for 28 years!  Here are a few photos from the celebration...

The birthday girl...

The t-shirt I gave her (along with a funny card).

I told her we were like Mutt and Jeff!  LOL

Her son did the food, including grilling the sausages.

When I left the party, I went by a local rehab center where one of our church women is recovering from a stroke from a few weeks ago.  She is coming along, but is having trouble saying the words she wants to say, and her right arm isn't working well.  Her husband and three other family members were there when I arrived.  She is being well cared for, but it is a long road she has to travel.  If you would, please add Marlene to your prayer list!

I went to church on Sunday, did my two loads of laundry (smiling), and spent the rest of the day watching some TV and relaxing.  How was your weekend?!

Have a happy week ahead!
My baking class, with Susan and Cheryl, is tomorrow!

Peace and hugs!

Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all.

All those pasta casseroles look awfully good and I never can resist a Caprese salad.

  7. Prayers for Marlene - that is so scary. You do have an active social life Terri - I think that is awesome. And the T-shirt for your friend was cute.

  8. Yes, praying for your friend Marlene. Strokes sure are scary and sneaky. I pray she can make a full recovery. So nice you were able to go to your friend's 70th birthday party. That sounds young to me now! LOL. Looks like it was a lot of fun, and really good food! And nice that you could go out with the church ladies for some "femaleship". Sounds like fun, even with a smaller group. Like you said, you can talk to everyone better when it's a smaller group. You sure do keep busy with so many wonderful friends. You are certainly blessed!! I went to my friend's Celebration of Life on Saturday, and reconnected with some of the church people there where we used to attend when we lived in Salt Springs. We had a nice ladies' group there, and some of them were at the funeral. I was glad to see them again, but sad it was under those circumstances. The place just didn't feel the same without Maura. She was a very dynamic personality and presence, and she is going to really be missed by everyone who was blessed to know her. I'm glad I went, however.
Have a good week. Blackie sends his love.

  12. That meal with the church ladies looks fun. We ladies did that in December after we Christmas caroled at a retirement home.

I'm lifting up a prayer for Marlene. I do know that physical therapy does wonders, as we experienced after Dick's dad's stroke in 2011. I pray she will be successfully rehabbed as he was.

I do love that T shirt you gave your friend!
