Susan, Cheryl, and I had our bread-baking class on Tuesday this week! We all had a good time. It was a different experience from what we expected, as none of us had ever done anything like that before. Because it was in the chefs' private home, it was much more intimate, and we got to chat with them and ask questions when something came up. The photos I took follow...
Our badly shaped but delicious savory scones
We decided to do rolls instead of a loaf of white bread.
The cinnamon rolls were our favorite! Yum!
My plate was cleaned!!
Their business card
wouldn't do it again, but we are glad we did it. It was a fun afternoon!
Susan did the driving. Her daughter lives over that way, so she was familiar with the route. Before we got to the class location (a private home), we stopped at Portillo's for lunch. Portillo's was one of Joe's favorite places to eat. The Italian beef sandwiches are delicious!! I hadn't been since before covid. It was fun going there again. Sorry... the lunch pictures should have been before the class photos! Susan and her hubby Chuck moved here from the Chicago area, and they know Portillo's well. It started in Chicago.
Last night, the Mas Verde group went out for Mexican. Once again, it was just three of us. Larry is home from the hospital, but they weren't up for going out to eat. Sandy is well and walked with us yesterday, but she was afraid Mexican food wouldn't sit well in her tummy. John and Ginny are still away. The three of us enjoyed our dinner and conversation!
Today, my dear friend, Shirley, is coming here, and we will order her favorite pizza for lunch! It is always fun to visit and eat at her house or mine. No rush to get done and get going.
My Saturday is clear, and Sunday will be church and laundry! We had a really good rain last night, and I sure hope that repeats each day going forward! How has your week been? Thanks for stopping by!!
(Another of my Happy Color finishes!)

What an interesting bread making experience you had with your friends, Terri! The cinnamon rolls looked amazing. I love a good scone. Lunch looked delicious. I hope you enjoy your pizza lunch with Shirley. Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that?!?! I think it would be very fun to go to a baking bread class! Enjoy your lunch date today!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I'd love to participate in a class like what y'all enjoyed! ... except I'd struggle not to eat the raw dough. (yep, I'm one of 'those.')
ReplyDeleteI do miss Portillo's. That used to be one of Tom's favorites; I always made him order mine "wet" the way they did it in Chi-town.
The bread baking sounds like a great experience and you made some delicious looking scones and rolls. Those cinnamon rolls look so good, they wouldn't have lasted long here!
ReplyDeletePortillo's looks like a great place to eat!
What a fun class. I am like you and will do something for the fun of doing it but not want to repeat the process. I am so glad you have such wonderful friends there. It makes life so much more enjoyable. Blessings for a good weekend for you-xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love fresh baked bread....it's my weakness! And it's fun getting caught up with you. I still need to get out more with friends. But I did get to see Barbara this week and that was great! Let me know if you drive up here sometime this summer! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteAll the foodie pics look great but those scones! Oh wow! I haven't had one in tooooo long!
ReplyDeleteIt was such a fun day all around! These are great pictures! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat baking bread class sounds like a recipe for a lot of fun with friends and maybe a carb overload. Wishing a weekend as enjoyable as a perfectly golden, fresh-out-of-the-oven bread loaf. 🥖
ReplyDeleteDear Terri, you look amazing! The cinnamon rolls look delicious! Looks like a really fun class, dear friend. I love all your photos! Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou've had a fun time out this week, It's always nice to do things with friends. I have a granddaughter who is in to baking bread but I rather think she is using a bread maker.
ReplyDeleteI want to be in one of your groups! If you know me, you would guess it would be the pizza and visiting at home, right?? Have a good weekend. We got some much needed rain here too!
