I surprised the cats on Saturday. I got up early to feed them because cats are creatures of habit, but then I went back to bed for another couple of hours. They weren't sure what to make of me! It was indulgent and felt great!! I'm looking forward to those six Saturdays and one Sunday. The cats will need to form some new habits! September 5th is coming!!
I puttered around and did some cleaning but not much else. On Sunday, Sunday school and church. When I got home, Princess (the neighbor's dog) came running over. I opened the door and she ran right in, looking for the cats and her usual treat. She is a mini-Yorkie and is adorable. I chatted with her mom, Dee, and sent Princess home.
I did my laundry and got some more cleaning done. I had leftovers from Saturday for my 'lupper'. I cooked up a batch of cabbage, peppers, onions, and smoked sausage. It makes enough for two meals and is a one-pan favorite.
Currently...
Outside my window: A sunny day and not quite as humid as it has been.
I'm enjoying: Watching The Equalizer with Queen Latifah. I like her in everything I've seen her in. It is streaming on Paramont+.
I'm grateful: for so many blessings in my life.
I'm loving: counting down the days to my 2nd retirement!
I'm a little sad: to be leaving my job because of the people, but we are friends and that won't go away.
In the kitchen: Not sure yet what to make for dinner.
A thought: I need to take the polish off my toenails. My podiatrist told me to let my nails breathe for a few weeks after being polished for a few weeks. Hmmmm...
Giggling at: Jeff Dunham on YouTube.
That's all I've got on this Monday, August 19th.
A bulwark never failing;
My foot dr. said the same thing, and I usually last 24 hrs., LOL. Wishing you a beautiful day, and I had no idea you were retiring again, smiles.
ReplyDeleteThat sausage medley sounds delish! I'm chuckling about your going back to bed Saturday morning because I've begun doing the same thing every so often. I'd a sneaky suspicion Macie Ann was getting me up and outside an hour early just so she could have her greenie. Surprised her, lol!
ReplyDeleteI love your new background ... so cheery!
You won't believe what I made for dinner yesterday - the same exact thing. Great minds think alike. I am soooooo excited and happy for you.
ReplyDeleteSept 5 will be here before you know it. I'm happy for you!
ReplyDeleteYour supper sounds very good!
I rarely let my toes go unpolished but I know it's a good thing to do. I typically will have about a month where they're bare, right around the time I see the dermatologist for my skin check. He told me not to wear polish so they can check under the toes. I go in January so not the worst timing. I'm excited for your retirement too!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you were retiring again. Party time?! *lol* Congrats on this soon-to-be happy moment! Blessings. 💙
ReplyDeleteI remember when Jenn (Sammy and Bianca's mom) told me that she wasn't able to have toenail polish because being in her Army uniform boots for work caused lots of issues. I do go without in the winter when nobody sees my toes.
ReplyDeleteI saw that you're retiring again. I'm so glad you're able to now. It sounds amazing! I don't know if Dick and I will ever get to that point. We just didn't have the right jobs in our lifetime. Besides, I have no motivation unless I'm pushed. Even now, without the schedule of taking Elizer to preschool and picking him up in the afternoon and squeezing all my jobs in between those hours, I waste so much time. I hate it.
I've gotten myself in a much better position to be able to retire now. I'll be on a strict budget to make it work, but I'm determined. I am fine with down time and look forward to not having to "punch a clock" anymore. God is so good!
DeleteRemove nail polish on toenails and let them breathe for a while? Hmmm, maybe I'd better remove my polish. I only polish them in the summer, just in case I want to wear sandals to church. But I rarely do. I don't like sandals or open toed shoes. But I did paint my toenails. One I think has a nail fungus. It doesn't appear to be growing anymore and is lumpy and bumpy. I probably should let it breathe. LOL. Thank you for telling me. I'm so happy you get to retire! I was concerned that you would have to work for the rest of your life. This is good news!!! I wonder what you will find to do with your extra time? Any ideas or plans? Let us know when you plan to come up "north" to visit your north/central friends from Florida. We'll plan a party!
ReplyDeleteI am excited for you and September 5th will be here before you know it. Oh those little kitties will be excited for you to be home too.
