Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 565
2. Your top five snacks? Chips, Cheese & Crackers, Macadamia Nuts, Cashews, Ice Cream...
3. What smell always brings back some type of memory? Chlorine. Elaborate. I've written about this before, but chlorine smells take me back to being 9 years old at my town's swimming pool. I was allowed to go on my own - rode my bike a few miles to get there. It was my first exposure to being independent. Chlorine!
4. What's something you learned from the last book you read? I have nothing. I need to find the joy I used to have for reading.
5. What's the next thing on your to-buy list? A new refrigerator. Will you make that purchase before the end of the year? I need to get it before I go to Ohio for my nephew's wedding at the end of September. I hug mine when I walk by it daily and ask it to keep working for a few more weeks. So far, so good, but I keep a towel on the floor to soak up the water that keeps leaking. (I had a repairman come months ago and he put in a new controller but said he couldn't fix the leak. The refrigerator is too old to find parts.)
6. Insert your own random thought here. I got my shower faucet fixed yesterday (plumber story above)! The new one is solid, not moving around when touched, and looks pretty good!! I'm so happy!

I have a plumber coming today to fix my freezer for about the fifth time. I hate that we pay ridiculous prices for these appliances and they are not built well or to last. My mom had the same frig for decades and I don't think it ever needed a repair. I struggled a bit to concentrate during the pandemic nonsense, but have been intentional about getting back into it and finally have my rhythm back. Devices (tv and the phone) are distractions that are hard to avoid. Have a great day Terri!
ReplyDeleteIt's frustrating when things like that happen - leaving early just to wait!
ReplyDeleteHope your frig keeps working! A few years ago, we were about to go away for a long weekend when ours quit working! That was no fun.
Well, I understand about being at the mercy of someone for something and time!!! Glad you got a new faucet.
ReplyDeleteI liked all your snacks, but the nuts. You only mentioned ice cream - you are more of a salty person.
So chlorine reminds you of independence - interesting.
When you retire maybe you will get back to your joy of reading.
I nearly wrote "Chlorine" for my answer! I think, perhaps, because our (the school's) swimming pool was indoors that's hard-wired in my brain.
ReplyDeleteI've not enjoyed a handful of macadamia nuts in ages -- but our Food Outlet has 'white chocolate macadamia cookies that are to die for.
I'm sorry about your refrigerator but had to smile about your hugging it. (Sometimes I talk to inanimate objects, too.)
When we were purchasing new appliances a few years ago, we were told point blank that the new "regular" model ones are not meant to last more than about 5 years!! Your new faucet looks great!!
ReplyDeleteYes, all we need, His hand provides. Sometimes we forget that, but He is faithful.
ReplyDelete#2 - Yes, yes, yes! Yummy. My favorite is peanuts, though, in all their forms. There's a lot of peanut farmers here in SE Georgia. I love it when it's time for boiled peanut vendors on the sides of the roads. They're so good.
ReplyDeleteSorry you have to buy another 'frig. Gosh, those things are overpriced now. We've been buying everything used at a local merchant that gets the old appliances and refurbishes them. We save hundreds $$ that way. We just put new tires on our 2010 Nissan Frontier. I nearly fainted at the cost but I'm glad we did it now before the prices jump up again.
Hope your day is blessed. 💙
Hang in there, refrigerator! That's such an expensive but necessary appliance to have, Terri. I've always hated to have to replace something that big. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteI will pray for your refrigerator to hang in there until you are ready and able to replace it. I know what a big deal that is. One thing I've learned about new appliances, it does pay to go ahead and get the extended warranty offered by the manufacturer. They do NOT build appliances to last longer than about 3 years anymore, so do your research! I do like your new faucet, and I'm glad the man was honest and skilled, even if late. Fragrances...wow, when you said chlorine, that did bring back memories of swimming as a child in the community pool, and also with my cousin's neighbors at their house when I would stay overnight with my cousin. Nowadays I stay away from fragrances. Too many give me headaches. But I love to smell good things cooking...my mom's apple pie, homemade bread...all the things we shouldn't eat. LOL. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.
