Monday's Weekend Recap...

I am working today but am thankful on this day and every day for the men and women who serve and have served our great country, many of who did not make it home.

I want to recap my weekend that started with dinner out on Friday night.  My across-the-street neighbors, Anne & Paul, and I went to Ford's Garage for dinner.  I rarely see them, more than a quick wave or hello, since we aren't playing Nickels at the clubhouse anymore.  It was great catching up with them before they head north to visit family for a couple of months up in New York.

After work Friday, before going out to dinner, I stopped in to see Helen.  She looked better than last week when I visited, but she seemed agitated and more restless than usual. She is getting her second covid booster tomorrow so I hope she handles it okay.  The first one went okay so hoping this one doesn't give her any problems.

I got to talk with my daughter-in-law/love, Darlene, this weekend, and Joey called too.  It was great catching up with them.  Joey will be home in seven weeks!

I got the bedrooms made up for my company.  I thought about menus and what groceries I need to get.  I will go to Publix after work today and will go to Sam's after work tomorrow.  I expect my sisters and brother-in-law to arrive mid-afternoon on Wednesday!!  I don't really have anything planned and Patti agrees that we can just play it all by ear and chill.  I have pedicures scheduled as their birthday gifts but not much else.  They are visiting me at work, too, and my boss said he will give them a tour so that will be fun.

My friend, Theresa, is having breast cancer surgery tomorrow. If you pray, please add her to your prayer list.  I made a casserole for them and will drop it off this afternoon so they have it for whenever they want to eat it.   This picture is from the Memorial Day luncheon at the clubhouse in 2019.  Al and I worked together at the Museum and they moved to Mas Verde after we did.

The man who gave the eulogy at Joe's service lost his wife to cancer.  Her obituary was in yesterday's newspaper and the funeral service is Saturday morning.  I told Patti (sister) that I need to go.  That eats into our Saturday but I can't skip her service.  David was one of Joe's best friends.  So very sad. She was just 68.  They have two biological children, adopted six, and have fostered dozens more, over 20 of the 38 years they were married.

Wishing you all a blessed week ahead!!

Peace be with you!
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow!

  2. As we remember those who served and died for our freedoms, let's be sure to thank service men and women whenever we run into them. Have a great visit with your family, Terri!

  3. What a good-looking foursome! Of course, I'm praying for Theresa (and Al) ... David, too. I certainly remember his wonderful eulogy.

I hope your day's peaceful -- and Publix isn't too packed crowded!

  4. So sorry about Joe's friend who lost his wife. I remember the eulogy. He did a great job. It was obvious he and Joe were wonderful friends.
    Prayers also for Theresa.
Poor Helen and all others with Dementia. Their minds are malfunctioning so badly that it must be like living in a nightmare some days. You are doing a good job to supervise her care by dropping in at different times and of course checking with the staff regarding her status. I am so thankful there are residential places with skilled medical staff to help persons in their last days/years. It is very difficult for family members to place loved ones there but it is impossible to keep them at home. I am thinking of three of my church friends who had to place husbands in a similar facility when their spouse's behavior changed or the care was too much physically for the wife. It's heartbreaking.
On the flip side, I am VERY HAPPY for your company arriving this week! Praying loads of fun and great memories for all of you!

Glad you got to spend time with Anne and Paul.
Your time with your sisters will be so sweet. I think playing it by ear is perfect.

  6. The casserole you made for Theresa's family will be so appreciated. That was good for you to do for them.

And attending the funeral for David's wife is also very good for you to do. I'm sorry to see these hard times.

  8. I hope Theresa's surgery went well and sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Another thing to dislike about aging - funerals get more frequent. Hopefully your visitors will cheer you up and you'll have a good weekend Terri.
