Monday's Weekend Recap...

Happy Monday, everyone!

As usual, the weekend flew by and here we are at the beginning of a new week.

I already wrote about our dinner group going to Ford's Garage on Thursday.  On Friday, I decided to skip playing Nickels.  I was knackered (been watching too much British TV).  It was nice to just kick back and relax.

I got up on Saturday and started cleaning the house. I hadn't really cleaned since my sister came for Christmas so it had been a few weeks. I cooked and prepped in between because I had guests coming at 5:30 for dinner.  Baked ziti with meat sauce, Italian sausage, salad, garlic bread, and Susan brought a delicious dessert of lemon squares.

The meal turned out good and my neighbors on each side met for the first time and hit it off immediately!!  I knew they would.  I have such great neighbors and now they know each other. Jill and Susan already shared recipes and are talking about crafts. The guys talked, the girls talked and we sat after eating for another couple of hours.  It was delightful!!

I never let my company help with clean-up.  I sent them off and had it all put away and dishes in the dishwasher by 9:00.  I clean up as I work so there really wasn't that much to do.

My Sunday alarm went off a little earlier than usual.  Sunday school is back and it was communion Sunday and our first pot-luck since 2019!!  It was SO great.  There was lots of good food (I took a Jiffy corn casserole).  I baked it while I showered and it went into the warmer at church.  We are so blessed to have a warming unit in our kitchen there!!

I snapped this picture before people lined up to fill their plates.  Tables were set up outside and it was just a beautiful day to be outside with so many friends.  We have a great area for the kids, too, with swings and a basketball court.

I got home and started a couple of loads of laundry and did little else but blogging and emails.  I have found a new addiction on TV.  Peacock TV has a series of seven seasons called Escape to the Chateau. It is about two Brits who moved to France and purchased a falling-apart 45-room chateau.  They are restoring it and are running an event business from it.  I am on season two.  Fascinated by it.  The husband is an engineer and does much of the work and figuring it out.  The wife is a decorator and event planner.  What they are accomplishing is just amazing. I am so enjoying it.  Peacock TV is free so if you can stream it, check it out!!

I see my cardiologist this afternoon for my annual echocardiogram.  I see him next week for the results. That's it for today. Other than work, there is nothing on the calendar until Thursday.  The Mas Verde dinner 'gang' is going to Texas Roadhouse.  Yay... I have a gift card to spend there!!  On Friday, I head for Brunswick right after work and will come home Sunday.  Mary Jane is cat and house sitting.  Vinny and Lilly have stopped looking for Lucy but I still walk into the bedroom thinking for a minute that she is under the bed. I have done away with "her" litter box and her dishes. My niece, Jackie, had to put up with a litter box in her guest room. It is no longer there, so that is a good thing.  Sweet Lucy.

Wishing you all a great week ahead!!  How was your weekend?

Peace & hugs!

  1. What a busy week/weekend! I am so glad you have so many friends to have dinners/lunches with. That kind of fellowship is so wonderful! I'm happy your church is back to having potlucks too! We have a monthly group that meets on the 2nd Saturday for a potluck lunch..."Agape Dinner". And then the whole church does a 5th Sunday Potluck after church, so I guess we will be having one this month on the 30th. There's always too much good food, but it is so nice to be together. Oh, are you going to see your son and daughter in law this weekend? I hope you have a wonderful time and have a safe and happy trip. How long does it take you to get there from your house? (((hugs))) regarding Lucy. I can imagine how much she is missed, but I know you are glad she isn't suffering. Still... Well, I hope this is a pleasant and DELIGHTful week for you. xoxoxxo

    1. Pam, Brunswick is a five-hour drive from Lakeland. My son is still in the middle east so I will be visiting with Darlene (and the horse sanctuary).

  3. You stay so wonderfully busy. The pot luck looked like fun. I'm glad our little Church never really stopped getting together, etc.
I like Brit TV too. I found several good series for free on YouTube put there by someone titled, "Rare British Crime Drama".

Some of the Dorothy Sayers stories are pretty good.
So sorry about Lucy. I pray your heart will heal.
    Blessings. xx

  4. I'm sitting here reading blogs while I should be up doing some cleaning and laundry. But I'll get to that in a bit. Sounds like you had a really nice weekend. Love Ford's Garage...such good food and good times we've had there when visiting our daughter in Florida. I also love Texas Roadhouse. Have a great day.

  6. Busy lady ... but it all sounds good! I, too, refuse to let our guests help with clean-up. There've been a couple instances where people ignored my protests and just started washing like it was their own kitchen. They probably believed that was a good thing -- but all these years later I still feel myself growing hot under the collar. Maybe I should get over myself, huh?
