Monday's Weekend Recap...

Fridays come fast and the weekends go faster!

Since my weekend plans changed, I contacted Mary Jane, my cat-sitter, to let her know I wasn't traveling but I still wanted to take her out to lunch.  We met at a new restaurant that I've been wanting to try.  I met her there right after work and we had the place nearly to ourselves since it was after the usual lunchtimes.  The food was good (not great but good) and the service was also good. Clean, and a huge selection of food on the buffet.  I would go again now and then.

I sure didn't need any supper that night!  My neighbor, Jill, found out I wasn't traveling so she invited me to join them for dinner on Saturday evening.  Judy and Tim came too so it was not only delicious, but the company was great too.  (Jill and Judy are sisters.)  Jill made a delicious chicken & broccoli casserole, potatoes, carrots, and a great salad.  Dessert was pie and ice cream. I took them some freshly made Italian Pizzells.  I hadn't made any since before Christmas 2020.  They turned out good, I think.

Sunday brought a really strong rainstorm early.  With the rain came a cold front.  South of us saw tornadoes and there was some damage to homes in the Ft. Meyers area.  I forced myself out of bed (considered staying there!) and got ready for Sunday school and church.  Unfortunately, there are quite a few people out with covid again.  There were only seven of us in Sunday school and only 47 at church. Half of our Praise Team are home, sick, and I think others did what I almost did and just stayed home in bed, listening to the rain.

After church, I stopped at Lakeside Village and went to Bed Bath & Beyond for a few things. I had a gift card that needed to be spent. 😉  I got a new dish drainer for my sink and new toilet brushes for both bathrooms (the old ones were rusty).  I also wanted a new blanket for the guest room bed but BB&B doesn't carry plain old blankets (!!!) so I ordered one from Amazon when I got home.

I had some bell peppers to use so cooked them up with some onion, potatoes, cabbage, and smoked sausage for my dinner. I added some Creole seasoning to give it a little kick.  I have enough for two more meals. Yum!

I did get a bit more work done in the den (Joe's office) but have decided I need a cupboard to store office supplies in. Lots of shredding to do as well.  I may take it to the UPS store and pay to have them shred. There is a lot of it.  One day and one thing at a time.

I will be at work alone today.  It's a paid holiday for all the guys.  I have a project to work on so will be pleasantly busy.  We have weekend hog hunts coming up and we need 'badges' for the hunters with the dates, etc.  My boss chose bright orange paper for the badges and they will need to be laminated and cut to size. I put music on when I am there alone.  The time will go fast.  I plan to see Helen after work and I have an appointment with my cardiologist at 3:00 (just my annual with him - had the echo last week). If I have time, after I see Helen, I may pop into Lowes to peek at their cabinets or shelves. Still not sure what I need to do but the office supplies need to go somewhere if I turn the desk into my sewing/craft desk.  No hurry.

Peace & hugs!!

  2. Spoke to my mom last night and she was talking about the storms, although Ocala was sparred. She said, "Hurricane season so it seems has started early."---as for looking for a cabinet, here we are selling and purging a lot of items to move, grin. Weather permitting today, there is a couple coming by and getting one of the living rooms chairs and the two ottomans.

  3. For once I was glad I was not still living in Fort Myers!! I will take our cold windy snowy weather for once! My friends there were very nervous but fine now.

  4. That rain and wind passed through our area too. There was quite a bit of rain, but then it slacked off just as we were heading to Sunday School. Good deal!
You've stayed busy! The meal sounds and looks so good. We've been drinking more coffee than usual with all this cold weather. That's my comfort food now. *giggle*
Lots of folks are catching the head cold here too. 'Tis the season. Happens every year. They all do fine and show up a week or so later snifflin'. There are two of the parishioners not doing well. One has diabetes and kidney failure and the other has kidney failure as well. I don't think either will "make it" but will go on to Glory. It's so sad how our bodies eventually wear out.
Anyway, it's COLD and windy here today. Guess we'll stay inside and clean house.
    Don't work too hard!
    Love & Prayers xx

  5. Happy Monday, Terri! I hope you are able to get your work project taken care of while you have the office to yourself. Praying your annual appointment with the cardiologist goes smoothly.

  6. It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend,Terri. I have friends in Ft.Myers (and used to live there) so knew about the tornadoes. Scary stuff.
Glad you made church but that is a small group, I know.
Enjoy your day alone at work! xo Diana

  7. Busy busy busy. Covid is rocking through here as well. My son had 4 coworkers out with it two weeks ago. He seemed to have made it past it, but he had it last year. Then Jeff got a call that one of his coworkers has it. She had it last year too and says this is more like a bad cold. Hopefully this will all rush out of here soon, but it doesn't make it easy.
I am happy to be at church again. That is the one thing I just don't want to give up. We need that fellowship.
Good luck with getting the office all done. It is always a lot when it comes to that kind of thing.

  9. Pizelles, homemade? Wowza, those look delectable! Our church meeting was cancelled yesterday because so many have the dreaded virus. It's been mild enough now though, most are doing all right. Working all alone doesn't sound too bad...hog hunts though, that's a strange concept, but then we do have coyote hunting here. I love that you have such nice neighbors....what fun!

  10. Sounds like you redeemed the time this weekend, Terri. I always hate when my plans are changed but covid has taught all of us that plans might not come to fruition. Covid is bad here as well. School is virtual this week. Maybe in a week or so, most will have had it and we can get back to what we call normal.lol

  12. I admire how you make the best of things when plans change. You had a productive weekend, even with the rain and cold.

I got my COVID booster shot on Friday afternoon and felt kinda punk much of the weekend. Headache, tired, just kinda dragging myself around. It's all gone now and I'm glad I got the booster since there is so much of the virus going around right now.

  13. Like much of the US we, too, were watching your crazy weather patterns. Unlike you, I couldn't get motivated to attend in-person services yesterday; from what I heard at Bible study this morning, many are opting out -- mostly due to the increasing Covid numbers. Love how you're able to pivot and 'make hay' -- even when the sun's not shining.

  14. Glad you stayed safe in the crazy weather! We got about 7 inches here and I stayed hunkered all day! HA! That was lovely you took your pet sitter to lunch! I need to do that someday! Have a great week - HUGS!

  15. Our attendance was down in worship and Sunday School, too. Our community's covid numbers are high but hopefully peaking. I hope you will post photos of your craft space when you finish!
