Vision of Love

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

Saturday 9: Vision of Love (1990)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The lyrics refer to "sweet destiny." Do you believe in destiny?  Isn't that kind of like fate?  Not really.

2) This week's artist, Mariah Carey, has something to fall back on. She studied cosmetology and worked as a hair sweeper in a salon. When you get your hair cut, do you socialize with the stylist?  Yes, we do and we know her parents, her sons and have dinner with her and her husband now and then.  Teena's dad was Joe's barber for years and actually gave our grandson his first haircut.  Tristan is 24 now if that tells you how long we have been associated with our 'stylist'. She used to have burgundy hair and now she has pink hair.   It looks so cute on her that I can't imagine it any other way.  Teena reads my blog now and then by email.

3) She isn't likely to turn to cosmetology any time soon. Mariah is currently on the bestseller list with her autobiography, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. Was the last book you finished fiction or non-fiction?  I rarely read non-fiction (other than the Bible), so the answer is fiction.

4) So far, more than 800 people have reviewed Mariah's book on Amazon. Do you review products/services online? Sometimes, but not always.

5) When she was a high school student, she was nicknamed "Mirage" because she skipped class so often. Did you ever play hooky?  No, I don't believe I ever played hooky. I actually loved school.

6) Mariah doesn't apologize for spoiling her dogs, who have been known to travel by limo. Do you know anyone who treats their pets like people?  I think everyone I know who has a pet/s treats them like people.  I talk to our cats all the time!!  I do.

7) In 1990, the year this song was popular, Martina Navratilova won the Wimbledon Women's Singles Tournament. How's your tennis game?  I never played tennis.  Joe used to play, but I never have. I was pretty good at badminton, though!

8) Also in 1990, Pope John Paul II toured Mexico. Have you ever visited our neighbor south of the border? Nope.

9) Random question(s): There are Gofundme campaigns for many purposes. Have you ever solicited funds online? Would you?  Last year, for my birthday, I asked for donations on Facebook for our son & daughter-in-law's horse sanctuary. I started asking for $100 and ended up with over $200. I will probably do the same this year!  It's a good cause!

Peace & hugs!  God bless!!

  1. I never played hooky either, and I also prefer badminton to tennis. I never could manage tennis very well as a lefty. I've never been to Mexico either. Yes, I do socialize with the stylist...recently got a new one closer to where we live, and I like her a lot. We are the same age! (within a few months), and she does a good job cutting my hair. So I am happy. I've never used the Gofundme thing. I tend to be a little leery of those things unless I really know the people personally. We don't have any pets, but our "grandpuppies" sure are such sweet little girls. LOL. Have a blessed day.

  3. My hairstylist and I are really good friends, too, Terri, and I can't wait to see her down the road. I've missed her! Never was any good at tennis, but Danny was team captain in high school and loved to play.
    Blessings!

  4. While I didn't always like school, I never played hooky. It never crossed my mind.

All that curl in your hair! You are so blessed! I know you use the Pantene Curl shampoo (as I now do, too, because of your recommendation) but is all your curl natural? It's sooo pretty!

    1. Yes, Barb, it is all natural. I fought it my whole life until I just gave in. LOL

  5. I cut my own hair so I don't have a hair stylist. I played hooky too many times to count. I'm not good at tennis either.
    Have a great day!

  6. Gosh, during the shut down I would cut my bangs, and I am so glad the salon is back open, just saying, LOL. I would love to have pink or even the unicorn hair. My husband would die/drop dead if I showed up with it, LOL. Have a great day, friend.

  7. Wow, that's a loooong time with the same stylist! I've never had one that long, though I'm now seeing a stylist who was a friend from high school. She says she is going to retire at 70 (she owns her own shop) so I believe I'll be sticking with her till then...that will give us 15 years together.

  10. Happy to know I'm not the only one who talks to her 'little people in fur clothing'! I don't think I ever skipped school, either. Not because I loved it; rather too fearful of being caught and punished. Happy Saturday, Terri and Joe!
