Weekend Recap on Monday...

Well, I am backing all the way to Tuesday to just mention our trip to Mazzaro's Italian Market with our across-the-street neighbors. We had so much fun!!

Wednesday was our farm day (Joe's client) and I took a photo of one of their goats, a Sandhill Crane family, and (of course) one of the cows that watched as we drove by on the lane.

Anglo-Nubian Goat (a British breed) with long floppy ears.

On Thursday, we went on a tour of Circle B Bar Reserve with a group from Mas Verde.  It was informative and rather dull because there weren't many birds or animals to see, but I absolutely love our live oak trees and the Spanish moss that hangs from the branches. The blue sky peeking between the branches is always beautiful to me... and a little spooky!!

On Friday, I took Helen to her hair appointment, we had lunch (my treat) at Honeybaked Ham, and then she came home with me for a visit before we had to leave for her doctor's appointment. I dropped her off at home afterward.  Friday evening, Joe and I went to the Clubhouse to play Nickels. We had two tables! Lots of our northern residents are back now. It is fun seeing them again!

Saturday was a sleep-in day! Felt good to be lazy.  When I got moving, I got the laundry started and then baked some pumpkin bread (mom's recipe).

Yesterday we also slept later, got up and had a lazy breakfast with coffee and the Sunday newspaper. We had a gift card and a $10.00 off coupon for Bone Fish Grill so we went there for a late lunch/early supper at 3:00.  That's a good time to get in to eat here in Lakeland. The after-church crowd is done and the dinner crowds haven't arrived yet.

We always love the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer but the last few times we went there, we have not been happy with our entrees.  I think we will give BFG a rest.  As an aside... do you remember when restaurants started serving bread with olive oil and herbs instead of butter?  I used to think it was awful, but now I just love it.  Your thoughts?

Our Canadian neighbors have arrived!!  They were there when we got back from Bone Fish and a quick trip to Publix. So good to see them!  We took some pumpkin bread over to them and welcomed them back.  We got hugs and smiles and will get a longer visit soon. They have to get the house back in order, which takes a couple of days.  We are so blessed!!

There is nothing on the calendar for today (so far).  It is so nice to not set an alarm clock!!

Thanks for stopping by!! Wishing you a good week ahead!

Peace & hugs!! God bless!!

  4. Marvin's final day at work will be January 4th and I am a bit nervous about us being together 24/7. But you have encouraged me by allowing me to see how you and Joe enjoy your retirement. Thanks for your encouragement Terri.

  5. Never been to a BFG either, although I lived in Florida for 6 years. But then, it has been 20 years since we moved back north.
I love goats! When we go to Fairs, I always look for the goats. Don't know why, but they tickle my fancy.
Today is Sauerbraten Day! I can hardly wait!

  8. It's best you not get me started on the olive oil - and - bread thing! It's so good that I lose all restraint!

  10. I absolutely LOVE the breads with olive oil and the seasonings in it. I eat way too much of it. That cow and the floppy ear goat are so sweet. Do you ever wonder what thoughts they might have? Do they?

  14. Those trees are spooky, for sure. We've one in the front yard Tom calls the 'witches tree.' I wonder if your Bang Bang shrimp dish isn't similar to something I love at Cheesecake Factory called Firecracker Salmon. Unfortunately, both are a 2-hr. drive away in Birmingham. The only olive oil dipping I've done is at Macaroni's Italian … delish!!!

  15. Sounds like a full and busy and happy week. Wow. I've never been to BFG before. But I've heard of the Bang Bang shrimp and would love to try it sometime. I have had the olive oil/herb bread before at some Italian restaurant...in Belleview, I think. It was good. I could get hooked on that stuff. Love the animals...that goat is funny. Sorry the reserve trip wasn't so great...maybe another time of the year it would be more interesting. Spring maybe? When it isn't too hot but after enough rain to make things pretty. Hope you have a great rest of the week. It will be busy here...dr. appts., etc. Still no house prospects/buyers. Trying to be patient. Kind of like stubbing my toe over and over again...learning to be patient. LOL>
