My Weekend Recap on Monday...

Jumping back to last Thursday, Joe and I went to Bible Study here in our community. It is a nice group of folks and the leaders are husband and wife missionaries who spend six months of the year in Thailand. She works to pull sex slaves out of bondage and he works with schools. They are quite interesting and though we don't really "study" a book or chapter in the Bible, they are leading us in interesting lessons with Biblical references.  I am happy that Joe is also enjoying it.

Thursday afternoon, I took Helen to her doctor's appointment to follow up on her trip to the ER last week. The doctor made no changes to her medications and thinks it has been the stress of Cheryl's surgery and the changes in her routine. She has a home BP monitor that Cheryl is helping her with a couple of times a day to keep an eye on changes. So far, so good.

On Friday, we had nothing on our schedule (!!!) so after breakfast, we went up to the north end of town to visit Lakeland's new Ollie's!!  We finally got an Ollie's store!  Good stuff cheap!  We picked up a couple of things we probably didn't need but thought we did at the time. I think I spent around $12.00.  It is a fun place to go and there really are bargains to be had.

Friday night we didn't have Nickels (a fun dice game for 8-10 people) at the Clubhouse because most of our players had been invited to a breast cancer fundraiser at the Elks Lodge.  We weren't invited so we had a free evening.  It was the first evening with cooler temperatures and no humidity, so we got out our lawn chairs and sat under the carport enjoying the breeze and we each had a diet Pepsi.  Well, a couple we know, Mic & Laura and their black lab, Bogie, came by in their golf cart and stopped to chat. Irene from a few houses down stopped by with her dachshund, Shadow, and talked for a while.  Izzie, from the next street over was walking her dog, Andy, and stopped to chat, then our neighbor Sharon and her dachshund Angel came by to chat.  It was a very fun evening and we sure got our puppy fix!!  We are looking forward to more evenings sitting on the carport!  Humidity and heat have returned but hopefully, it will be nice again in a few more weeks!

Saturday brought a late sleep-in which was great! I think I got up at 9:30 and Joe actually stayed in bed until nearly 11:00.  We were taking dinner over to Helen and Cheryl at 5:30 and I needed a few things to make the baked ziti so when Joe got up we went to Walmart and got the few things we needed to finish dinner.  We had also purchased a dog run for Cheryl's dog, Oz, on Amazon. Cheryl paid for it. She won't be able to walk him much for a while and Helen's backyard, though, fenced, will not contain Oz so we ran a dog run for her after dinner.  Hoping it will help with him when he comes home.

Our across-the-street neighbors, Anne & Paul, invited us out for a late lunch/early dinner on Sunday afternoon as a thank-you for getting their mail for them while they were up north with family over the summer. It was a fun time with good friends. They also had their living room painted and had new carpet put on their lanai so we popped in to see their improvements. They have such a pretty place!

When we were walking across the street to our house, Walt came wheeling up in his scooter.  Walt is a 92-year-old WWII vet who lives a few houses down from us. His wife of 68 years died a few years ago and now it is just him and his little dog Teenie.  He came in for a visit and we talked for nearly an hour.  He is a sweetheart.  He has three kids and his oldest daughter watches over him and has POA.  He gets along well on his own and loves it here as much as we do.

After he left, we decided to ride up to Al & Theresa's house since we haven't seen them in a few weeks. They were sitting out on their lanai and invited us in for a visit. Al has been working extra hours and so has Theresa. They are both looking forward to retirement but have a few more years to wait.  We made plans to go out to dinner soon - checking calendars!

That catches you up.  In between, I snapped this picture of a pretty pink sky and one of the new houses being built on an empty lot here in Mas Verde.

And, of course, our cats are still watching the squirrel and bird videos... this is Lucy.

Today is a free day for us which means laundry and some cleaning!

How was your weekend?

Thanks for stopping by!  Wishing you a
good week ahead!

Peace & hugs!!

LOL Glad you have such great neighbors...and HOPE your temps come down soon so you can sit outside more often! Happy Wednesday!
