Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 614

From this Side of the Pond

1. The midpoint of summer (believe it or not) is August 7th. Describe a perfect summer day. Have you had one this year?  Florida really doesn't have "perfect" summer days.  It's always too hot and too humid.  Now, a perfect fall/winter day would be 78-82 degrees, with the sun shining, and no humidity.  It's coming for us!

2. What's one thing you wish you knew before starting high school?  I don't have regrets about high school.  It was a great experience for me.  I do know that friendships are important, and the truly good ones last a lifetime. Cherish it all and have fun!!

3. What's something that bothers you if it's not done perfectly?  There is nothing perfect in this house, and I am usually more inclined to just get something done quickly, and it most likely isn't perfect.  I don't sweat the small stuff anymore.

4. What's the most overrated food you're convinced people are just pretending to enjoy? What's a trendy food you actually do enjoy and would say is definitely not overrated?  Gosh, nothing comes to mind.  I'm not a picky eater, don't really know what is "trendy" right now.  There is a new Korean restaurant that opened in town, and I didn't care for it at all.  Cook your own food on a hot griddle on your table, and hot pans with hot broths... Maybe that counts.  Been there once and won't go again.  It tasted okay, but don't ask for a tip if I'm doing all the work!

5. Wrapping it up this week with five fun this or thats...

personal stylist or personal chef?  chef
dance like nobody's watching or sing like nobody's listening? dance
unlimited tacos or free pizza?  pizza (both would be nice!)
bookshelf organization-by size or by genre?  on my Kindle
ten minutes late or ten minutes early?  early (always)

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I ordered new blinds for all of my windows.  They aren't expensive ones, but I hope I measured correctly and that they go up easily.  More than half of mine are broken (cords snapped).  I did look up how to restring blinds and decided my sanity was worth more than a few hundred dollars.  Wish me luck getting them installed!!

  1. Measuring for window treatments of any kind makes me so nervous. I'm sure it will be fine and yes, definitely worth getting new. Have a nice day Terri!

  3. I love the pic of you looking out the window. Very creative!
I hate measuring for blinds too. I'm sure you did good though and they will be great!

  4. I always used to think I would love to live in Florida but now I'm older I think the heat would put me off. I like cooler temparatues.
That made me smile about you getting things done quickly instead of perfectly. I do the same.
If I go out to eat I want someone cooking for me, not having to cook myself on a hot griddle.
    Good luck with the blinds!

  5. I think ab out Florida too - and then I think of the heat and the family. Wish I could make up my mind. I loved high school too. I wish I could be more like you and not sweat the small stuff. I have never tried a Korean restaurant like that. Sounds like a lot of work!

  7. Yeah, nowadays if it gets done, good. If it doesn't, well, too bad, so sad. I blame the dust on the fact that I am getting cataracts and can't tell the difference. LOL. Oh, I do hope your new blinds work for you. I really would like to replace ours, mainly because ours are so old and really need to be thoroughly cleaned, but it is a big job. But replacing them would be even a bigger job, so I haven't done it yet. It's on the list. That Korean restaurant sounds strange...I don't think I'd like that either! I like the Japanese places where they cook it on the grill in front of you, but I can't imagine them expecting the customer to cook their own food? That could be dangerous! Oh, I agree with you about the "perfect summer day". LOL. Not in FLorida...there's no such thing, unless it's a fluke and turns out to be a cool day with no humidity! Dream on! LOL. Yes, bring on fall/winter, please!! I hope you are having a good week. Our week has been busy and I haven't had time to write. Maybe tomorrow...we'll see. I'm getting behind in blogland!

  8. The only perfect Summer day I can imagine is one spent in my air-conditioned home with nothing important on the "to do" list! The only thing I'm persnickety about is the way my bed needs made; the rest, meh! That Korean restaurant sounds like a hard "no" to me.

  9. Our pool time makes the summer bearable! I moved in the latter part of my freshman year in high school--it was tough!
