Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 617

From this Side of the Pond

1. When someone finds out what you do or where you're from, what's a question they always ask?   Where's that?  I'm from a tiny town in Ohio that no one has heard about, so my answer is always, "It is 30 miles east of Columbus."  Most people have also never heard of Lakeland (FL), so my answer is always "Lakeland is halfway between Orlando and Tampa."  We are actually closer to Tampa and are considered part of "Tampa Bay" (I dislike Orlando and don't go there unless I have to for some reason).

2. Did you participate in 'Greek Life' when you were in college, or have children who did? If so, what was your experience like? Taking another tack...have you ever been to Greece? If not, is that a destination on your bucket list?  I went to college later in life and did not participate in Greek Life, nor did either of my boys.  I have never been to Greece.  It is not on my bucket list, but I wouldn't say no to going.  It looks like a beautiful country.

3. Do you like Greek food? If so, what's your favorite dish?  I do like Greek food and enjoy visiting Tarpon Springs for the food.  We have a Greek restaurant here in Lakeland that I enjoy.  It's called Louis Pappas and got its start in Tarpon Springs as the Riverside Cafe.  We ate there many times and were sad when it closed.  A few years later, the smaller restaurants started popping up, and Lakeland got one!!    I love the Gyros, the chopped Greek salad, and the Spanakopita.

4. What incredibly common thing have you never done?    Gosh, I don't know.  I don't have a tattoo.  I've thought about it, but that's as far as it's gone.

5. What is a telltale sign that you're upset?  My face tells it all.  I can't hide my feelings, whether I'm upset, happy, sad, sick...

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I'm heading out today on my little trip north.  It will be two full and wonderful days with my Ohio family and two full days in the van with my son (and maybe Darlene?).  I am posting this Hodgepodge and my Whimsical Fashion Fun ahead, but I won't be posting again until Tuesday.  Again, thanks for your prayers for travel mercies!!

Peace and Hugs!

Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all.

  2. Safe travels my friend!!! I was reading in our paper that Tarpon Springs waterfront is going to be revamped, sadly.

  3. No Greek life for me either. I'd some to see all the history in Greece, but that's not likely to happen.
Safe travels and have a great time!

  4. I remember enjoying the flaming cheese at Pappas when it was in Tarpon. (Didn't it burn down some years ago?) Like you, my face is an open book if upset. While in the workplace I managed to keep that under wraps but now I'm retired? Like Popeye, I yam who I yam. (lol) Prayers for travel mercies!

  5. HAVE A FANTASTIC TRIP!
I love Greek food here in America. I have been to Greece and would love to go back. I remember pink looking mash potatoes, and it was octopus and tasted fishy. Yuck.

  8. I've heard of Lakeland but only because the wrestling that I watch have done shows from there.
I am the same when it comes to tattoos, thought about one but haven't got one.
Have a wonderful trip and enjoy your time with family.
