August 12, The Tuesday 4...

A big thanks to our hostess, Annie, for today's questions.  You can join the fun HERE!

Your Reading Opinions

Tuesday 4 welcomes you and hopes that you are enjoying the questions we ask each week In spite of moves and television, reading is still a popular way to spend time for many people all over the world.
All kinds of people read all kinds of books.   I thought maybe we could talk about it a bit this week and get your personal opinions on the subject.

1. What are some essential classic books that everyone should read at least once in their lifetime?  I haven't read a lot of the "classics" but there are three books that I have read 3 or 4 times each.  The Once and Future King, by T.H. White; Gone With The Wind, by Margaret Mitchell; and Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett.

2.  Monday, September 22, is the first day of Autumn.  Would you make up a list for us of books that you think would make great Autumn reading?  I'm sorry.  I don't have a list and haven't been reading much lately.  I am halfway through a book I bought at the airport in Chicago, where I was stranded for 12 hours.  It's good.  The House in the Pines, by Ana Reyes.  I also have the Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer books to read that I bought in Illinois.

3  What genre will we find most in your library? Sci Fi, Romance, adventure, biography, non-fiction, mystery?   I like historical fiction, mysteries, and good detective stories.  A favorite author is Janet Evanovich, and the Stephanie Plum books.  What do you like most about the genre?  They have to keep me interested and guessing..  I don't want to figure "it" out halfway through the book.  I read for entertainment and prefer an easy read.  Cozy Mysteries are usually fun.

4  What book would you like to see made into a movie? Any idea on who should be cast in the roles?  Someone tried to do a Stephanie Plum book, and cast Katherine Heigl as Stephanie.  Terrible.  Stephanie should have been played by Sandra Bullock.  The movie was awful.  I was so disappointed.

Peace and Hugs!

Revelation 1:3-Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.

  1. I do enjoy reading and read varied genres. I like getting recommendations from friends. I've never read The Once and Future King and should look that one up.

  2. I read, but I would not call myself an avid reader - now with all the different ways to check information out there. I did read and see Gone With The Wind, by Margaret Mitchell. Can you believe my new granddaughter has never read it or knows even much about it?

  3. I do love a good mystery, Terri, and one which I can't figure out until the very end. Historical fiction is entertaining, too. Blessings!

  4. These were fun questions this week. I LOVE cozy mysteries and they are my go-to's or a palate cleanser when I need a light read after something heavy

  5. I love cozy mysteries too, and some historical fiction as well. I don't have any list...but I tend to work through one author at a time until I've read all they have at the library, and then I move on to another author. I rarely ever buy a book anymore, but rely on our public library for good stuff to read. They have a pretty good selection.

  6. I so enjoy Janet Evanovich's writing! While I love to cast fictitious roles in my head, I'm so far behind knowing celebrities, who's who. In that case? I'm known to cast real people I've brushed shoulders with over the years. One of my favorite authors (J. A. Jance) once quipped, so-and-so should be careful or she'll wind up the villain in my next novel.

  9. I listened to the audiobook first Janet Evanovich book (Stephanie Plum) and enjoyed it, and I have several in my "to read" stash. I haven't read Gone with the Wind, but my husband said it was the best book he ever read and I really should read it. He's right. I enjoyed reading your answers. Enjoy the rest of the week!

  11. Like you I enjoy good historical fiction and though Zi do enjoy a cosy mystery now and then I don't read a lot of it. It's do disappointing when a book we like gets made into a bad movie.
