August 13, The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thanks to our hostess, Joyce, for today's Hodgepodge!  You can join the fun HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 615

From this Side of the Pond

1. August is National Golf Month...do you play? Do you enjoy following golf? Have you ever been to a professional tournament?  I haven't played (other than mini-golf) since the mid-70s.  I was terrible and could play an entire round with my nine iron and putter.  Yes, bad.  I don't follow golf and have never been to a professional tournament.  Joe played and attended a tournament or two with another CPA buddy.  He enjoyed playing golf and following the pros.

2. Astronaut Jim Lovell of Apollo 13 fame passed away this past Thursday. Are you interested in outer space and what's happening today in terms of space exploration? If space travel became common in your lifetime, would you go? How do you personally relate to the idea of exploring something vast and mysterious...does the idea excite you, intimidate you, or something else?  I am not tuned in to space travel these days.  I do remember watching the moon walk on TV when I was in high school... "One small step..."  I was horrified when the Challenger blew up and would not travel into space, ever.  I am too old to explore anything vast and mysterious these days!  LOL

3. Describe your communication style in three words.  Tell the truth.

4. Do you have a favorite cookbook? A favorite celebrity chef? Do you watch any cooking shows on TV? My favorite cookbook is Pinterest, where I save hundreds of recipes that sound and/or look good.  The cookbook I use most often is one made by the church women at my old church.  I don't really have a favorite celebrity chef, but I do enjoy Paul Hollywood and the Great British Baking Show.  I bought one of his bread books and have extra flour in the pantry, still waiting for me to give bread a try.

5. As a child, did you have any back-to-school traditions? If so, did you carry on those same traditions with your own children? Do you have any back-to-school traditions you've started on your own?  The only tradition would be the first day of school photographs.  My boys were in high school and college when I came into their lives.  I didn't start any traditions, for school or otherwise. 😄 We sure dressed differently for school, back in the day...

6. Insert your own random thought here.  If you read my post yesterday, I just thought I would mention that someone picked up the blinds I put out for trash day.  They were all gone when I checked, before the trash trucks came along.  I am always happy that they might help someone else, and not end up in the landfill.

Peace and Hugs!

Psalm 115:16   The heavens are the Lord's heavens, but the earth
He has given to the children of man.

  1. I'm amazed at people picking up stuff curbside. Glad the blinds were taken! When we helped my mom move out of her house we put quite a few large items by the curb which she was sure would still be there the next day. Nope. Everything was picked up and gone. Hope you have a great day Terri!

  2. I have only ever played mini golf but it was fun. The only thing I know about golf is Tiger Woods used to play.
How cool to see the moon walk as it was happening but I wouldn't fancy exploring space either.
I like Paul Hollywood too and not long until the Great British Baking Show is back on TV although over here it's called the Great British Bake Off.
That is great that your blinds were picked up.

  3. No golf for me other than mini golf. :)
I would not want to take part in any space travel.
I'm with you on Pinterest. I've got lots of recipes saved there.
Cute pictures! I remember always having to wear a dress to school for the first few years of my education.

  4. I love Pinterest, but often forget to go there. (...and instead get needlessly frustrated by all the mainline recipes' pop-up ads or asks to subscribe.)
I'm right there with you on children's school clothing. We did live in the best of times, didn't we?

    1. I created a private board and just go there. No ads, no pop-ups.

  5. I've never played golf nor do I have any interest in it. As for space exploration, that's not in my wheelhouse, either. However, I do have fantastic memories of the first moon landing. Grand-girl, Virginia, is a huge fain of outer space. Blessings, Terri!
