On Friday, I had a nice visit and lunch with my friend, Shirley. We were going to meet at Cheddar's for lunch, but she called to see if I could come to her house and she would order pizza instead. Her toilet was backed up and she had Roto Rooter coming and needed to stay home. So we had a nice visit and some good pizza. Her backup was cleared and life was good again. She is such a sweetheart and is 87 years young.
I got up Saturday morning and started cleaning my neglected house. Having company coming is good motivation to clean! LOL My boss and his wife and our friend Monika came around 5:00 for dinner and a board game they all enjoy. I had fun too. I made a rice, chicken, and veggie casserole that always seems to be a hit. Strawberry shortcake was for dessert. It was a nice evening. I am so blessed with these friends from work.
I was a greeter yesterday, at church. We are almost done with Genesis in Sunday school. Not sure where we will go after that. Our teacher, Lew, is battling cancer and has some other health issues. I've known him and knew his late wife, from 1997. She and I worked together at the Museum. She died a bunch of years ago from cancer.
My son, Joe, is coming this weekend and I hope Darlene can make it too. Not sure if it will be Friday or Saturday. They are five hours away, up in Georgia. I'll keep y'all posted!!
Next weekend, my nephew Lou, his wife, two of their three daughters, and my penpal and great-great niece Maya are all coming for a visit!! My house will be full. They got me a ticket to go with them for a spring training game over in Clearwater. Phillies fans!! It will be fun and I will have photos, for sure!!
Wow, tis the season for company for you! But it is all so wonderful, and I am happy for you to have these dear ones coming to visit you! What a blessing!! Glad your dinner with the boss, etc., all went so well! Sounds wonderful, especially the strawberry shortcake part! LOL. Glad Shirley's 'back up" got fixed. That's never any fun!! Very sorry to hear about your S.S. teacher having cancer, and that he already lost is wife to that dreaded disease. It is a horrid disease no matter how they are able to treat it. Saying a prayer for your teacher now. We have a dear lady in our church who has been battling cancer w/chemo for the past several months, and now they have said she is in remission, praise God! But she has to have surgery to remove the last part of the tumor in her colon, which will also cause some other unpleasant issues for a while, but hopefully only temporary, so they say. Praying that is the case. She is such a strong person and such a blessing to us. Oh yes, "Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh what a foretaste of glory divine!" Amen. Have a lovely week!!
ReplyDeleteHis name is Lew and he is 80 years old. He is ready for Heaven but will stay as long as the Lord allows. He just keeps going. Such a nice man. Thanks for the prayers.
DeleteMy goodness Terri - you do have loads of company and people for dinner. You must be the hostess with the mostess. You seem to love it as well. ♥
ReplyDeleteWhat a busy time you've had! That's wonderful. So sorry to hear about Lew. May the Lord Jesus take him Home soon.
ReplyDeleteBlessings. ❤️
He is still teaching Sunday School. God isn't done with him yet.
DeleteWow, you sure do enjoy your dinners out and in! I recall that is the Florida way :). You are fortunate to have such great friends
ReplyDeleteI am blessed, Bunk. I don't take it for granted!
DeleteThat casserole sounds yummy! Given the choice between Cheddars and pizza at home, it sounds like you and Shirley made the best choice. There's never a bad time for pizza!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have some really fun weekends coming up and this past one sounded really good too. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the perfect weekend!
