The above photo was taken Friday morning before the rains came. I always stop for my mail in the morning, on my way to work. The Ibis didn't even care when I got out of the car to walk to my mailbox. Must have been some good stuff in the ground there!
So rain, rain, and more rain. We need it, but it is cold (for us) as well and makes us Floridians miserable. Glad it isn't snow and that cold (for us) is mid-40s, but my heat is on and I only went out to church yesterday.
Sunday school and church were all about the mission work my church supports. We had many of our local groups represented and also a mission we support in Haiti came to tell us how they are succeeding in their ministries. We had a potluck lunch afterward. Our potlucks are always fun and delicious! We usually have tables outside but we were inside, out of the rain! It was still enjoyable!
I did my laundry and on both Saturday and Sunday continued working on my purging and organizing projects. Little steps, but getting it done. I spoke with both of my sisters, with grandson Tristan, my BFF Elaine, and my son Joey. It is always good to connect and hear my loved ones' voices!
I've been watching (third time) Lark Rise to Candleford on BritBox. It is such a sweet series, reminiscent of Little House on the Prairie. Laura's Pa just asked her why she is always writing in her journal. Her reply was "It all goes by so fast, and this life deserves to be remembered." It struck me that that is exactly why many of us, myself included, enjoy blogging.
I will leave it at that today.
I heard you were getting a lot of rain. I hope it's done now!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Lark Rise, but it sounds good.
I like that quote from Laura Ingalls.
Not Laura Installs. That is the Laura on Lark Rise to Candleford.
DeleteIngalls... FB keeps changing what I type.
DeleteYes, I feel sorry for those who have chosen this time to vacation in Florida. Unusual for this time of year to get so much. Just wait until Summer!
ReplyDeleteHope the rain has stopped by now - we had rain this morning but I'm looking out onto a sunny garden right now.
ReplyDeleteBlogging can be a form of journal-keeping, Terri, that's for sure. I'm glad you had a good weekend in spite of the rain and the chill.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I love that quote! That is one of the main reasons I blog!! It was cold here on Saturday and Sunday but today, we are supposed to get back up into the high 50's and by Thursday, into the 70's!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're able to reconnect with Joey! I love hearing my loved one's voices, as well -- but in small measures. That quote is perfect; thank you for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteYes, "let it be, dear Lord, Let it be..." I love that quote by Laura too. Good thought for sure! Yes, it was a downright bone chilling dreary day yesterday, but church was good. Today has been beautiful and sunny, cold, but sunny! Glad you are still working through your purging of stuff. When you finish yours you can come help me with mine! LOL. Hope you have a blessed week. Glad you talked to so many of your family. That is a blessing for sure.
