Friday Fotos...

Happy Friday!!  Another week has flown by.  I do have some new photos to share this week!!

Our FWC Florida Youth Conservation Centers Network staff manned the FWC booth at the Florida State Fair (in Tampa) over the last two weeks.  Monday was the last day.  When I walked into one of the offices, on Tuesday, this was looking at me...

It does take you by surprise!!  It did me, anyway.  They had many wildlife props in the booth, live snakes, an alligator, and a tortoise.  The tortoise is our Education Director's pet.  He lives on her enclosed porch and is quite comfortable there, she said.  He also gets supervised time in their backyard.  Titan is an African Spurred Tortoise, and he weighs nearly 50 pounds.  He is gentle, not aggressive, and was an interesting specimen.  I didn't pick him up, but I did pet him under his chin.

I hadn't been back to the intersection where the Southside Cleaners is until earlier this week.  I snapped this photo of the sign...

I'm having my boss, Danon, and his wife, Mali, to dinner tomorrow evening.  Monika is also coming.  She is one of our volunteers at Tenoroc.  She represents Florida Trails and mows our hiking trails every week (more than 20 miles total!).  She has become a good friend.  It will be a fun evening.  I am meeting my friend Shirley for lunch after work today and then I will go to Fancy Farms for strawberries.  The dessert tomorrow will be strawberry shortcake.

Peace and Hugs!

He walks with me and He talks with me...

  1. That Tortoise is new one on me. I've never heard of one of those. I thought it was a desert dweller by it's color. The source says that it lives in or near the Sahara Desert. Isn't that amazing!?
Our local Veterinarian Dr. Kimbrell always puts something funny on his billboard. They are a hoot.
Hope you have a nice day and weekend.
    Blessings. xx

  4. I'd have loved to see that bear head! One thing's seems for sure, yours isn't a boring workplace!
I hope you and Shirley have an enjoyable time together today; and your dinner 'party' is a great time, too.

  5. Wow, that bear head looks alive!! That was quite well done! The tortoise is so amazing! How cute that you could pet him on the chin. LOL. I haven't been real fond of turtles (the water kind) since they attacked our duck, but the duck is still out there swimming every day and diving like normal, at least I am assuming it is the same one, so hopefully no real harm was done. Nature is something remarkable to see! How wonderful that you are having your boss and all to supper tomorrow. Yum to the strawberry shortcake!! I've been eating a lot of strawberries lately, mostly with my yogurt. They are a welcome treat this time of year! We are blessed to have them so early here in Florida! "And He tells me I am His own...and the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known." I love that song...In the Garden. Thanks for sharing it with us. Have a lovely weekend.
