Tuesday 4...

Annie has given us this week's Tuesday 4!!  You can join in HERE!

Your Garden

It's Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 once again and I thought it might be nice to talk about our gardens or house plants.  After all, houseplants are indoor gardens and fish aquariums can be water gardens.

1. Do you have a garden indoors or outdoors?  No.  Houseplants count I think.  If not, why don't you have them?  I have a brown thumb, I have cats inside, and there are critters and bugs galore outside here in Florida.

2. Have you visited Longwood Gardens or any of the large gardens and horticultural sites around the world or your state?  Tell us about it.   I actually have visited Longwood Gardens.  It was before Joe and I got married, so nearly 40 years ago.  We were visiting his folks and we drove through one evening to see the Christmas lights.  It was beautiful. We have many beautiful parks and gardens here in Lakeland.  I've posted about Hollis Gardens many times. It is beautiful.

3.  Most people really enjoy a little garden but I think we sometimes make too many excuses not to do things we really would enjoy.  Too busy, not enough space, etc.   But if we put our minds to it, anything is possible  Do you believe that?  For the most part, I believe that.  But I still kill more plants than I can help thrive.

 4. Ideally, what flowers, shrubs, and trees do you want in your little garden real or imagined?  When I can retire again, I have been thinking about one raised garden beside my carport where I can try to grow tomatoes, at least.  Maybe some peppers, and perhaps lettuce.  We'll see...

Peace & Hugs!

We plow the fields, and scatter the good seed on the land;
But it is fed and watered by God's almighty hand:

  1. God sends the snow in winter,
the warmth to swell the grain,
    the breezes, and the sunshine,
    and soft refreshing rain.

I love your little gnome person above! So cute. Yes, it is difficult to do much gardening when you are working and also when it is so hot. I do hope you can plant some little tomato plants/etc. like you mentioned. I think those could even be grown in pots without having to go to all the trouble of a raised bed, etc., but my one pot of a tomato plant this year yielded two funny looking beef steak tomatoes! LOL. If I do it again I might try to grow little cherry tomatoes instead. I think those are easier to grow. My thumb is mostly brown too. My sister Doris is the one with the green thumb. Somehow that gene skipped over me! LOL. Have a blessed day my friend!

  2. I had more luck with the newer flowering bushes.. Such as "Knock out" Rose Bushes were my last plantings when I had the house. Little work. Veggies? Other than tomato plants... not much.

  3. My plants have to be self-sufficent because I'm a "killer" too. *lol* There are many natives on our property. I let 'em do whatever it is plants do. And I never put plants in the house anymore. Artificials are now my buzz word.
Have a great week. Love. xx

  5. I enjoyed your pictures. I have 2 rose bushes and a pot of petunias and another pot of mixed flowers. The petunias did the best of them all. My hanging baskets on the front porch are artificial. I don't think anyone can tell that from the road. lol

  7. I, too, have a brown thumb -- or two! How much easier it is to visit and admire someone else's work who enjoys that sort of thing. Meanwhile, I'm over here making wishes on dandelions. (lol)

  8. A raised vegetable garden sounds like a marvelous idea, Terri. Many years ago, I had a place to garden and I was avid about it. Now, I know anything bigger than a small patch would be too taxing for me.
    Blessings!

  9. I can certainly support what you've said about how beautiful it is in Lakeland since you have shown me around. Hollis Gardens is beautiful.

  10. I often think we need to do a raised veg garden, but then I tell myself we live so close to neighbors if we really needed to subsist on the food it would all be stolen. So I talk myself out of it.
