Fooled Around and Fell in Love
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!
Saturday 9: Fooled Around and Fell in Love (1976)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
Chosen because this weekend is April Fool's Day.
1) As an April Fool's prank, Taco Bell once announced they had purchased The Liberty Bell and renamed it The Taco Liberty Bell. Describe your perfect taco. I love Taco Bell's supreme tacos. Crunchy, ground beef, cheese, lettuce, spicy salsa, and sour cream. I like the ones I make, just like that, too.
2) In 1989, a British policeman investigated a flying saucer that had landed in a field in Surrey. When a figure in a spacesuit emerged, the policeman ran away. Turns out it was a hot air balloon, designed by billionaire Richard Branson to look like a UFO. Have you ever seen a UFO? When I was a kid, we used to watch the sky and were sure we saw UFOs, but I don't believe I've seen a real unidentified flying object.

3) This week's song is about a man who collected girls' phone numbers in a little book. When he and she broke up, he'd tear out her page. Do you keep a pen-and-paper address book? Or do you use your cellphone to hold street addresses as well as phone numbers? I don't have a paper address book anymore. I use Google calendar and it syncs between my phone and my computer.
4) This was the biggest hit blues guitarist Elvin Bishop ever had, but that's not him singing it. While he's proud of his composing and guitar prowess, Bishop felt his voice was too gravelly for this song. Do you like your singing voice? Ha! No, I don't like my singing voice, and trust me, you wouldn't either!!
5) A brainy kid, Elvin Bishop won a full scholarship to the University of Chicago, where he majored in physics. Obviously, though, as a blues guitarist, he doesn't lean on that physics degree very often. What's something you learned in school that you seldom used again? Chemistry, algebra, geometry...
6) Elvin was born in Iowa, grew up in Oklahoma, went to college in Illinois, recorded in Georgia and now lives in California. How many different states have you called home? Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida.

7) In 1976, the Summer Olympics were held in Montreal. When did you most recently visit our neighbor to the north? I believe it was the summer of 1968. That was the last summer my family vacationed in Ontario.
8) Nadia Comaneci was the star of the 76 Olympics, scoring a perfect 10 in gymnastics. What have you enjoyed lately that you would rate "a perfect 10?" The shrimp pasta at Shell's perhaps!
9) Random question: Do you ever talk to your TV? All. The. Time. It's either the TV or the cats. Best part... they don't talk back! 😁

Up at 4:30 a.m. to get to the Derby before it starts.
Pray for me. I'll be checking in 100+ kids this morning.
Peace & hugs!
God is so good!!

Oh wow! You are already up and running this morning, getting excited little kids ready for fishing! What fun! I do hope the weather cooperates with the event! Have a fun day. I enjoyed your answers. Let's see, how many states have I lived in? PA, FL, GA, SC, NC, OH, MI, NH, ME, and back home to Florida hopefully for good this time!
ReplyDeleteLaughing at your answer to #9. It made me think of my grandmother. After my grandfather passed she had the TV on all day for the noise (she said the house felt less lonely). She also took up talking to the folks on there quite a bit, even when we lived with her. I hope you have fun at the Derby today!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, imagining you marshalling all those little kids. I hope you'll indulge in a nap a little later. Depending what's showing, Tom and I talk to the television (and make hand gestures, too). My states? Minnesota, New Mexico, Texas, Florida, Arizona and Alabama ... so far, LOL.
ReplyDeleteHope the derby went well and the rain held off till it was over!!
ReplyDeleteAs for #6, here are the states I have lived in: Oklahoma, Oregon, New York, California, British Columbia (obviously not a USA state), New Jersey, Colorado, South Dakota, Alabama, Virginia, and Florida.
Oh goodness, that is a lot of kids. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteYour taco sounds good, that is how I like them just no lettuce for me. We are having tacos for dinner. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

Have fun at the derby. I suspect you will be ready for that chair upon returning home from it. I do remember this song as a favorite from my high school days.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, tacos! Your perfect taco sounds SO yummy! I'm thinking tacos would be great for dinner tonight!
ReplyDeleteYou know, Canada (British Columbia) borders Idaho, and in 2006, we were on our way back to Boise from visiting my parents in NW Montana. We got to Bonner's Ferry, Idaho, and we decided to have an "international" vacation that year. We could have turned left (South) and headed home, or we could turn right (north) and head to Canada. We thought it would be fun for our then-teens to have an international trip. Although it was after 9/11, passports weren't then required, so with just a show of our driver's licenses, we were able to get into the country. We went to a grocery store in the first town we came to, then turned around and headed back to the states and home. Only about 30 minutes in Canada, but, hey, we were there!!
oh man, that song takes me back! I loved that one when I was in high school and I enjoyed hearing it again.
ReplyDeleteI loved Taco Bells taco salad and I wish they still sold it.
I still have an address book. Guess I should get with the times!
Hope your fishing day went well!
Prayers for that fishing derby, Terri! I think that's the coolest thing your place of work is doing. I'll be hoping it's successful and fun!
ReplyDeleteI like Taco Bells cruncy supreme tacos too.
ReplyDeleteI sing in too many keys lol
Only lived in 2 states Michigan and Indiana but we stayed in Texas twice each time about 3 months when we only had one baby. It wasforawork project for my husband and I went along with him.. It was fun
