I thought of Easter when I saw this dress. How pretty for Easter Sunday (and I love that she is wearing a hat)! Count down 1-2-3 and tell us which purse she should swap the one she is carrying for. They are Louboutin, Dior, and Dolce & Gabbana.
My thoughts: I am choosing purse #2 by Dior. They are all nice but I like #2. What are your thoughts? Do you remember when hats were worn on Easter Sunday? Corsages were sweet, too! Those were the days. I just thought that I might order myself a corsage for Easter Sunday. Why not?!!
PS: I saw sweet Helen yesterday, after work. She was taking a nap in her room when I got there. I tip-toed in and wasn't going to wake her, but she opened her eyes and looked up at me with a big smile like she recognized me. That felt good. I told her to not get up but, of course, she did. I sat on the bed with her and she started talking in her usual garbled sentences, but one came through loud and clear. She said, "It's taking a long time to die." I just hugged her. What can you say or do? Then she wanted to get out of bed (but they had taken her slacks off) so I got some help to get her dressed and her shoes back on. She just wanted to walk the halls again. I followed along for a while until I saw another nurse's aid and asked for him to distract her so I could leave. He did just that and I was able to head home. So hard seeing her like this but I know God is in control. They are taking excellent care with her.

I like the dress. Reminds me of the 80s and how I once dressed. I'd chose purse #1 to go with the hat.
ReplyDeletePoor Helen. I totally sympathize. My MIL, Althea, says the same thing about it taking a long time to die as she slowly transcends at Baptist Village. That poor woman is in misery, every day. I don't know what to do but pray.
Love & Prayers xx
I'll go with purse #1 just for the reason that I like it.
ReplyDelete"It's taking a long time to die." My mother said something like that in recent years (age 97 next month). This is something I surely do not understand when the person is ready to meet the Lord.
I'm choosing #2, Terri.
ReplyDeletePoor Helen! Sadly, I remember my mother saying from time to time, "What am I doing here?" In other words, why is it taking so long to die? I'll keep Helen in prayer.
#2 here.. I think the color goes nicely... yes, always a new outfit for Easter and for church.. mostly stuff that "itched" as I recall at a tender age.. :)
ReplyDeleteI like #2 because it's pink. And yes, it is so hard to watch someone go down that way. She's getting excellent care though and isn't that a blessing!
ReplyDeleteI like #2. Glad you were able to visit with Helen.
ReplyDeleteTerri, you are just a saint - you are teaching people about Jesus not just talking about Him.
ReplyDeleteI like purse number 2 as well. I do not like the one she is carrying - too many colors and then a black band on her hat.
I choose #1. It goes with the hat and shoes. The other two seem a little busy to me.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good to go visit with Helen. God is taking care of her.
It is tie between #1 and #2 and why not a corsage indeed!
ReplyDeleteOh poor Helen. It is hard to watch them after they reach this part. You know they would be so much better off with Jesus but apparently He isn't ready yet.
I like #2 also. I feel so bad for Helen. It is hard to see a person get to this stage in life...and then have the occasional awareness that it is taking a long time to die. Just sad. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHelen's comment (observation) is so very bittersweet. Your hug response is perfect. As far as purses are concerned? I'm so predictable (boring); you know I'm going to go with the one (#1) that best complements her shoes.
ReplyDeleteI love #2, and the dress is beautiful. I remember getting new white patent leather t-straps for Easter, it was a big deal to have nice dressy clothes for Easter...Helen saying that reminds me of my MIL, she's 92, and she wakes up in the morning and says, "Dang it, I'm still alive!", only with much more colorful language. She's been saying for a few years now that she's ready to go, but I tell her that God isn't finished with her yet.
ReplyDeleteOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH #2 for me. I am so sorry about Helen...sending you lots of hugs and love.
ReplyDeleteI like #1. Glad you got to spend a little time with Helen. I know it's hard but it's so sweet of you to keep seeing her.
ReplyDeleteI love that dress! I choose purse #2 too. I like the hat too. I remember wearing hats and gloves to church.
ReplyDeleteSo sad about Helen. The occasional moments of lucidity can be even harder than the confusion.
That is a gorgeous dress. I, too, am going with purse #2. Ah, precious Helen. The aging/dying process can take so long. My father-in-law (almost 91) feels similarly. He's been ready to go for a couple years now, but God hasn't called him home yet.
ReplyDeleteOh nice that you got a recognition and smile from Helen!
ReplyDeleteI like the number 2 purse also
I might wear a hat on Easter. I have a collection of them actually. I like them , they are fun
Hope you have a great weekend. We have a birthday and a high school play to attend plus babysitting a while tomorrow :)
I love the dress and if I were younger and in better "shape", I would enjoy wearing it with the hat & gloves too! Remember? I like purse #2 as well. The soft pink just seems to look good with it, however, I remember that for Easter we always got white shoes and white purses. I never had a pink purse before. I am so glad you had those sweet moments with Helen. I KNOW how hard that is, but you gave her some happy moments and I feel certain she knew you. Yes, it is difficult to just sit and wait to "die", but God has His reasons for waiting. We don't always understand that, but we can trust Him to do what is best for Helen. Praying for her comfort and peace of mind. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend to her. She certainly is blessed to have you. (((hugs)))
