After the two previous weekends being somewhat ho-hum, this one just past was pretty amazing!
On Friday, I got to participate in getting a nuisance alligator removed from one of our lakes where folks do bank fishing. It was reported that a large alligator was threatening the public. My boss was off Friday but called me to make a call to the nuisance alligator folks who would get a trapper sent out quickly. I made three phone calls and within 20 minutes, the trapper was driving by my office. I did not go to watch (but wanted to!!). One of our Wildlife Techs was there and he took some pictures which he later shared with me...
I was told that he was fighting and hissing. He was just under 10 feet long.
Whew!! That was exciting and I'm just glad no one was hurt.
On Saturday, I was gifted with a ticket to see Van Gogh, The Immersive Experience, down in Sarasota. Mrs. Boss's birthday is today but she hosted an early celebration with Monika, my boss Danon, their daughter Mallory, and me. Danon drove all of us women, bless him! It was a lovely day and I sure enjoyed seeing the exhibit which puts you right into Van Gogh's art. We went to lunch afterward before heading safely home.
The pictures don't do the exhibit justice. I did take several videos but if you click on the link above, their video is much better than mine. You really feel like you are on one of the streets or walking among the sunflowers. Pretty awesome.
Then came Easter Sunday and the celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I got a little emotional in church. The music, and the lights coming on... just wow.
My dear neighbors, Chuck and Susan, invited me to join their family for Easter dinner. Their son was there and their daughter, her husband, and their five kids were there, plus a new puppy named Daisy. A family friend was included who is visiting from Illinois, and me. It was noisy and lots of fun. Dinner was delicious with ham and the usual trimmings. I enjoyed it and was sent home with enough leftovers for the rest of the week (well, not quite a week). I am so blessed to be surrounded by caring people. I didn't take any pictures.
Phone calls and texts with lots of friends and family members yesterday helped make a beautiful day.
I see the dermatologist today after work - the six-month follow-up to that pre-melanoma she removed. I have a hair appointment on Wednesday. Oh... I treated myself to a pedicure on Friday, after work, and before the Good Friday service at church. My feet were a hot mess. They look better now.

What a wonderful exhibit... There was a Van Gogh exhibit in the '70s that was just super and I fell in love with his work. Wow what a beast... and courage to wrangle that fellow in. :)
ReplyDeleteOh those pesky alligators. After rumor of one in our bayou one spring after very heavy rains, I didn't use my paddleboard at all that summer. I hope to not hear of any this year. Mostly where I paddle it is clear and they shouldn't want to hang out, but I am a scaredy cat. The exhibit looks like it would have been good. I was just thinking the other day I needed to check out the local college's arts schedule and get Mama out on a weekend to see what was going on up there. She would like that. I am going to follow through on that today.
ReplyDeleteThe exhibition looks wonderful and how nice to be included by your boss and his family. Sounds like you had a great weekend Terri. You can keep the alligator though. Gives me the shivers just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteWOWWWWWWWWW on that Gator...not surprising though, we do live in Florida, LOLOL. That exhibition looks really nice, Terri. Have a beautiful day friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful weekend. That alligator looks a little scary and also not very happy that he was trapped. lol Love the art exhibit...I'm going to go check out your link. Hope you have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a gator story! So very interesting! I'm glad it went well, although the gator probably wouldn't agree.
ReplyDeleteThe Van Gogh exhibit -- I've not been to it, but a friend mine in Denver saw it and enjoyed it as much as you.
Your boss, his people, and you for the birthday celebration -- how thoughtful. I think they really like having you on the payroll! You look very nice in the photo.
You are blessed with such good people at work, at church, and in your neighborhood. I enjoyed this post so much!
Wow(!) indeed. Now I'm wondering just how that gator-getting learns how to trap successfully. Talk about incentive not to mess up! Your outing to the exhibit looks really enjoyable, and I'm glad your Easter Sunday was beautiful. What a weekend!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a BIG gator!! I am glad they were able to get him out of there w/o any problems! So glad someone gave you pictures! That's pretty cool. I am still watching to see if we have a gator in our pond, but I've never seen any evidence of it. Someone said there was one, but he never has come to our side of the pond that I know of so I not sure he's there. But I'm not going out in my kayak anymore until I am certain. What a wonderful weekend you ended up having! The Van Gogh exhibit looks marvelous! How thoughtful of them to include you! And your neighbor's dinner party sounds fantastic, esp. the leftovers part! LOL. And a pedicure? Wow! Do I ever want one. Never have had one. I think it's time I splurged. Hope the rest of your week is wonderful. This was a delightful post.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite the gator!
ReplyDeleteThat VanGogh exhibit was just in Grand Rapids and I thought it would be fun to go, but never made it. Now I wish I had made more of an effort. It looks so cool! Again I'm thinking how happy I am that you have such a great connection with your boss and family.
So glad you had such a nice Easter.
That's one stunning exhibit, Terri, and I glad you got to attend. What a fun Easter weekend you had! So glad, too, that the gator was removed successfully and that no one was hurt in the process. Here's hoping your week is as much fun as your weekend was!
