The Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions! You can join in HERE.

(I Got Spurs That) Jingle Jangle Jingle

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

Saturday 9: (I Got Spurs That) Jingle Jangle Jingle (1942)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is about a cowboy who is very happy about his single status. Is your closest friend married or single? Married. Do you think he or she would be happier if their marital status changed?  I think they are quite happily married.

2) Our cowboy is riding merrily along on horseback. Do you often ride?  No, and I have only done trail rides so I can't really claim to be a rider.  I would love to change that!!

3) John Ritter/Jack Tripper used to sing the refrain of this song as he got ready for dates on Three's Company. Were you a fan of the show?  I did watch that show when it was on TV.

4) This was a top hit for bandleader Kay Kyser, who was popular during the Big Band Era. In those days, orchestras played behind vocalists, bandleaders were stars, and dances like the jitterbug and lindy hop were popular. Can you do either of those dances?  I have done the jitterbug - not well but had fun.  I have not tried the lindy hop.

5) Kyser's orchestra featured many vocalists over the years. Harry Babbitt and Julie Conway sing this week's song. Another vocalist who toured with Kyser was Mike Douglas, who went on to host a syndicated talk show from 1961 to 1981. Do you recall The Mike Douglas ShowYes, and I always watched it. Gosh, those were the days!!

6) Kyser suffered from arthritis and wanted to retire from touring in the mid-1940s but he couldn't because he was contractually committed to concert appearances. Is there anything you don't really feel like doing on today's to-do list?  I purposefully did not have a to-do list for today because I just want to get the anesthesia out of my system.  Sunday will be extremely busy.

7) Kay was a popular radio personality who combined music with comedy and quizzes. Today's most popular quiz shows are Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. On which show would you be a more successful contestant: Jeopardy! or Wheel of FortuneWheel of Fortune.  I rarely know the answers on Jeopardy.

8) In 1942, the year this record was popular, Aretha Franklin was born. What's your favorite Aretha Franklin song?  RESPECT but I also like Chain of Fools.

9) Random question: Do you sing in the shower?  Nope!

Peace & hugs!
God's love is steadfast and unchanging!

PS:  My procedure went very well yesterday.  There were no polyps and the nurse even told me that I am a champion prepper.  My colon was the cleanest one they had that day. Made me laugh. Perhaps I should get a trophy?!!

  1. LOL on the "clean prepper award"! That's very good!! So glad your procedure went well and that you had such a good report! That is definitely a blessing!! Yes, you are wise to rest today and let the anesthesia work its way out. The older we get the harder it is to get it out of our systems. I like to blame all my "mistakes" on anesthesia brain, even tho it's been a while since I had any. LOL. Have a blessed and peaceful weekend.

  2. Ha! Now there's a trophy you'd want to display on the mantle! I'm glad the report was good, however. That's always a relief. Have a great day relaxing!

  6. I haven't heard that song since forever! Interesting that children sometimes love songs even though not understanding the meaning. "If I knew you were coming Id a baked a cake." comes to mind that I was crazy about.. :)

  7. Congratulations on your stellar 'performance' yesterday. (*giggle*) I'd forgotten all about the Mike Douglas show, but used to enjoy watching. Jeopardy's one of my favorites, but no way I'd humiliate myself by trying out. At least most of the time I come away having learned something.

  9. The clean colon award? Yes, you deserve a trophy for that, Terri! :) Glad all went well.
I used to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, but I rarely think to look at them now. It's funny how some things just fade away as we get older.
    Blessings!

  11. I sort of know the song, the tune started playing in my head! Isn’t it amazing how music stays with a person? No wonder music is used for advertising too I remember them from way back when and my kids learned a lot on educational shows in the 80s
Glad all went well and you got a good report on your colonoscopy
    Have a bright new week

  13. Congrats on the good results for the colonoscopy! I got the same message after mine. Made me giggle too. Are there awards for Preparedness? *wink* OH, and the doc said I "had the colon of a young woman." Yeah, I laughed. *lol*
    Love & Prayers xx

  14. Glad your procedure went well and you got the all clear. The prep isn't pleasant but good to know everything is ok. I had to have one a few years ago. Did all the prep but when we got to the hospital I was told they didn't have me on the list for that day. Fortunately they managed to fit me in. I wouldn't have wanted to do the prep again!
