Tuesday 4
Cooking
1. When did you learn to cook? I am the oldest of four kids and my mom and dad both worked so I helped get dinner started most days, after school and before Mom got home to finish it up. I was probably 10 or so when I remember mom teaching me how to scramble eggs.
2. How often in the week do you cook? Order in? Go out? During 2020 covid, Joe and I ordered out a lot but I don't anymore, just for me. I (sort of) cook 5/6 days a week and always go out on Thursdays, with the Mas Verde group.
3. Which foods are absolutely necessary at a cookout? Steaks require baked potatoes and a nice salad. Burgers and dogs require baked beans. Deviled eggs are good any time!
4. Do you have a meal you are especially good at making? or that people often request for you to make? I frequently make baked ziti for guests and most folks seem to like it. My niece, Lexi, wants my Italian tortellini soup when she visits. Please don't ask for recipes. There aren't any. I just throw it together and it can be a little different each time, depending on what I have on hand.

I really don’t remember being taught except in Junior High Home Ec classes.
ReplyDeleteGosh, it's not yet 8 and you're making me hungry! I love deviled eggs and was going to try making them for the first time this weekend ... how hard can that be? Then Tom admitted he doesn't like them, so I'll enjoy them plain, one at a time.
ReplyDeleteDeviled Eggs: I used 2 dozen eggs to make them for Easter dinner. Had enough to share with neighbors.
ReplyDelete48 pieces... wish I was there to eat half of them!! LOL
DeleteI am also the oldest of 4, and just like your family, we have 3 girls and one boy. So I did a lot of cooking growing up too.
ReplyDeleteDeviled eggs are a favorite, and now I think I need to make them again. :)
I don't remember anyone "teaching" me how to cook, at least not until we lived with my grandmother early in our marriage. She showed me how to make a lot of things the old-fashioned way which is delicious, but not at all healthy! I enjoyed your answers, Terri. It's fun reading how we all learned to cook.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember not cooking. I have always loved it!
ReplyDeleteI forgot about devilled eggs. I love them so much I find it hard not to over eat them! Thanks so much for joining in!
ReplyDeleteYummy... now I'm hungry!
ReplyDeleteI think I’m hungry for a nice steak and baked potato but just not yet since it’s breakfast now. I bake potatoes a lot of times when my husband grills steak. Yes gotta have potatoes with steak.
ReplyDeleteBaked ziti sounds good too
Have a great day !
Wow I can post comments on your blog again I’m not sure what was going on but I could read and not comment before . Cooking out sounds fun
ReplyDeleteGreat answers! Steak is definitely a good bbq food. I make a tomato tortellini soup too that everyone loves.
ReplyDeleteGreat answers!
ReplyDeleteBlessings. xx
