Tuesday 4

Linens and Things... January White Sales

It's snowing here in South Jersey.

Each week we offer 4 questions for you to ponder, think over, blog about, or ignore if you like!  We keep up the tradition begun by Toni Taddeo!

Here are this week's..... all about January  Linens.

1. White month is in January when towels, sheets, and household goods go on sale.  Do you replace old sheets and towels each year?   No. If not when?  When they get worn and don't perform well anymore.

2. How many sets of sheets and towels do you feel a household needs and how often should they be changed on the bed and on the bathroom towel rack?  I only have one set of sheets for each of the guest room beds. I have two for the master and change them every couple of weeks.  I use the same towels all week before washing them.  Guests can do whatever they are comfortable with.

3. Do you think the January sales are a bit too close to Christmas when people have spent their money?  I don't really care about it.  It is not something I have ever shopped for specifically in January.  If you do, what month would be an ideal time to replace linens and things in the home?  It doesn't matter to me.

4. There is something so lovely about a linen closet with beautifully folded sheets, towels, and blankets. Someplace lavender in the closets for a relaxing beautiful scent.   What do you do to make your linens nice? I keep them clean and folded neatly in the cupboard.  Fabric softener?  No. Lavender?  No. Special folds?  No.  Or is your linen closet in serious need of some tender loving care right now?  My linen cupboards & closet are in fine order.

Peace & hugs!
Jesus is love!

  2. Happy New Year Terri: Only when they need to be replaced.
Three sets of sheets, changed weekly on Mondays, towels every three days we shower daily.
Sales are good anytime of year.
Folded nicely, fabric softener, to me there is nothing better then the fresh smell of my sheets when getting into bed.
I am a bit anal they are very neat, even if no one but myself can see them.
    I hope you have a Blessed 2022.

    1. I shower daily too, but the towels are still fine at the end of the week, for me.

  3. We're so much alike in this respect! I don't sit around thinking about my linen's or towels. They get replaced when needed, and the old ones get "recycled" to the rag bin. I try to keep that area organized but I'm not a fussbudget about it where they have to be folded or put away a certain way. That's too 'girly' for me. *giggle*
    Blessings. xx

  4. You always make me smile, Terri. We have been busy purging and my husband said, "Linda, do we really need all this stuff?" LOL---Nope, toss it is my reply. grin

  5. I'm like you, Terri. Towels and sheets neatly folded in the linen closet -- that works for me. All the rest is nice but my energy needs to go to other aspects of housekeeping.

  6. I did not realize for a long time that some people replace their towels every year! What!?!

  7. I didn't think folks still participated in January White Sales since the 60's! Between Tom's medical supplies and my OTC miscellany, I'd be embarrassed for anyone to see the linen closet. I only care that things are clean. (..... tho' I do wonder why anyone would want to go snooping in the first place, lol.)

  8. I only replace things as needed...and right now some are needed I'm noticing. It seems I replace pillowcases more often than sheets...and we just don't have overnight guests very often anymore so I've gotten lazy with the guest bedroom sheets/towels, etc. Be my luck someone will come now that I've said that. LOL. Happy January!!

  9. I haven't bought linens in January before either and it seems like I can catch them on sale frequently. I just get them when I need them. Loved your answers! Have a nice week.

  10. I've never been one to shop the white sales. I usually replace my sheets when they get thin!

  11. We do things pretty much the same here as far as replacing and washing. I roll my spare towels and they are tucked in the back of the linen closet.

  12. I have 2 sets of sheets per bed but, one set would be just fine except that I'd have to wait to wash and dry them before I could put them back on. :o)) Wishing you a good first week of 2022. I'm so sorry about your cat.
