Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 447
3. Do you have a word for the year? My word for 2021 was Quiet and the year was very quiet for me in the evenings. Elaborate if you'd like to elaborate. Joe kept life fun and a bit less quiet so it was/is often too quiet without him. That's probably why the TV is on most of the time when I am home, even if I'm not paying attention to it.
4. January 11 is National Milk Day...are you a milk drinker? I do drink milk, but not every day. Best with cookies or chili... What kind? I buy 2%. Your favorite recipe that calls for milk (cereal doesn't count)? Gosh, I don't know. Ice cream for my ice cream maker, perhaps. I use half n half for potatoes and soups, etc. A favorite recipe using milk isn't coming to mind right now.
5. What excites you most about the future? The immediate future brings my BFF and her hubby here for a 3-week visit!! Hopefully, later in this year, we will begin to see an end to covid. What do you miss about the past? Missing Joe and it's almost a year later. I also miss life without masks and fear.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I think with the one-year anniversary of Joe's death looming, I am thinking of him even more than usual. I still can't believe it has been a year without him. I still want to honor his memory by being strong and continuing on as he would want me to. I do miss him something awful, though. Many thanks to my regular readers for being cheerleaders and prayer warriors for me. You continue to lift me up!! I am so very blessed!

I am sure that Joe is very proud of how you have carried on bravely and how you continue to care for those around you Terri.
ReplyDeleteI know you'll never get over missing him but he would be so proud to see you living your life in such a blessed way. Take care and enjoy your day!
ReplyDelete#4 ~ Since I've become so allergic to lactose I can't drink whole milk anymore but I do put Half And Half in coffee.
ReplyDelete#5 ~ I think you're handling this all so well. And I do pray for you and others every day. I, too, miss not seeing the hypochondriacs and their slave masks in full view. The fear over a head cold is like a mass hysteria. Doing this to children is child abuse. I refuse to live in fear. Had enough of that growing up with a father who was a bully. Our government is now an out of control monster. Don't play along. It should go away on it's own.
Enjoyed your answers. Stay strong, my friend. This too shall pass.
Blessings. xx
It has been a long, tough year for you, Terri. I pray that this year is better and that, while you will never stop missing Joe, that you will feel less 'hearthurt'. Being isolated with Covid definitely makes things harder.
ReplyDeletePS.Because of John's health issues I am "alone" most of the time. I keep the TV on just for the background noise. I used to use music more but found myself swelling with emotion during a lot of the music that played. xo Diana
I, for one, am honored to be one of your prayer warriors. I can't believe it's been nearly a year. Yes, I'm sure Joe's enormously proud of you, but no. That doesn't lessen the hurt.
ReplyDeleteWhat blessed timing for Elaine and Jim to be back! I'm looking forward to hearing what good times you three have planned!
Anniversaries and "firsts" are tough so I'm praying for you as this one approaches. A fun visit with friends sounds great though! I totally get leaving the tv on when home alone, I pretty much always fall asleep with it on when my hubby travels just to have some noise. Have a great week Terri!
ReplyDeleteEverything from #3 and below...I simply I understand. Yesterday was 4 weeks since Liam had passed on. And here it is, the gosh awful truth, Terri--I can't stand the dark now, nor the quietness. AND I know he wouldn't want me to be like this. So, there it is. AND I also know it's going to take time. I never imagined, even though we told when he was 6, his heart would eventually give away adn we had a total of 18 years after his surgery...I just never imagined I would have to 'bury' my one and only child.
ReplyDeleteI am one of your prayer warriors, Terri...you are always on/in my thoughts and prayers. AND when we meet ---you're going to get a big big hug. So be prepared, grin.
You and Dave are in my daily prayers and I am looking forward to that hug!!
DeleteTerri, I think you are such a sweet lady, I love how you keep busy and have so many friends, and enjoy life. What a year you've gone through, I do pray for you too.
ReplyDeleteI've been so proud of you this year and I know Joe would be too. And I know that this anniversary is going to be hard and I'll be praying for you!
ReplyDeleteYour comment about fear of rubber bands made me laugh out loud. I started following you around the time Joe died. I think you've done an amazing job this year. I'm saying a prayer for you right now!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the one-year point has more thoughts of the one we have lost. It's a milestone of sorts. You are surviving and actually doing very well. There's a lot to be said for that as the one-year day approaches.
ReplyDeleteMilk -- I go on to half & half and how you add it to that Williamsburg Turkey Soup. You might remember that I froze the leftovers without the cream. Then when I serve it, I add the cream. Served some to Heartthrob a couple of weeks ago. He enjoyed it.
So hoping it works out we can see you when you bring your friends up here. Want to see you and have you meet my guy. Love you, girl!
You are one strong woman Terri and Joe would be so proud of you. His loss will always be with you but hopefully easier to bear as time goes on. Quiet was an apt word for last year - I'd have the TV or radio on too to make some noise. And yes I think many of us would agree with your answer for #1. But you do have lots of friends and family around you so keeping busy is how you always seem to be. And positive.
ReplyDeleteLove your answers. I never thought about milk with chili...cookies...for sure! Also I just realized I was at the top of the Rockefeller tower in NYC. That was pretty cool. Have fun with your BFF
