Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 446
1. Share one happy moment/memory from the holiday season. My sister, Tammy, was here for Christmas! We had a good time (I did, anyway)!
2. Let's be reasonable with our expectations going into this new year, k? What is one thing you'd like to accomplish/improve/complete/do in 2022? I just want to stay healthy!!
3. Every January 1st (since 1976) Lake Superior University has published a list of words they'd like to see banished from the Queen's English. Words may be banished due to misuse, overuse, or just general uselessness (go here to read more about how the words are chosen). Here are the words/phrases they'd like to see banished in 2022-
wait, what?-no worries-at the end of the day-that being said-asking for a friend-circle back-deep dive-a new normal-you're on mute-supply chain
Which of these words/phrases do you use regularly? Which of these words would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why? Is there a word/phrase not on the list you'd like to add? I have used "no worries" and "new normal". New normal could be banished. I want my old normal back!! I can't think of any other words to add.
4. Best thing you ate in the month of December? I ate lots of good food. I probably enjoyed the Bang Bang Shrimp from Bone Fish Grill the best, but also loved taking my sister to Gosh, Asian Bistro, for Pho. Yum!!
5. January 5th is National Bird Day. Are you a bird lover? I like birds but am not a bird watcher. What's your favorite bird to see in the wild? An Eagle always gives me pause (and goosebumps)!! Choose a phrase from the list that follows and tell us how it relates to your life currently...eat like a bird, bird's eye view, early bird, bird-brained, free as a bird, a little bird told me, or kill two birds with one stone. Probably early bird since I am back at work again and getting up before the sun rises. I look forward to the weekends and sleeping later!
6. Insert your own random thought here. Many saw it on Facebook, but I had to say goodbye to my sweet Lucy kitty last night. She has been sick for many weeks and was just getting worse. I couldn't wait for her appointment next week so took her to the ER Vet (opened at 6:00 pm). They diagnosed her with cutaneous lymphoma and said she would not get better. It was humane to end her suffering. She was 14 and had been my diva girl for 12 of those years. It's okay. I am picturing her with Joe. She was his baby.

(((Hugs))) re: Lucy. I am so sorry you had to say good bye to your beautiful Diva Lucy. But yes, she is at peace now and you do not have to worry over her not being well. But it still hurts. And yes, re: "new normal", etc., I agree, I don't want a "new normal"...I want my "old normal" back. But life moves on and we are constantly in a state of adapting and changing in order to survive in this world. Not all change is good, but learning to live with the changes is better for us in the long run. Although there are times I'd love to go back "home" where life was simpler...and we were young and healthy and able to accomplish just about anything we set out to do. Nowadays I am happy if I managed to get outside for a while and just enjoy the day rather than being cooped up inside doing just the same old same old... I hope you have a wonderful day today at work. Maybe an eagle will fly over...be on the lookout!
ReplyDeleteEagles are magnificent. There are pairs of them nesting in our areas now. They give me goose bumps too.
ReplyDeleteThe secret to "normal" is to be bold and not give in to the Communist agenda (i.e. bullying). Ever.
So sorry about Lucy. It's always painful to say goodbye to our little fur-babies.
Sending Love & Prayers xx
So sorry to hear about Lucy. Always a painful fact about pets. Yes, back to normal...any year now... :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry you had to put Lucy down. She was part of your family for a long time.
ReplyDeleteOh I am so sorry you lost your sweet kitty. Sending you lots of hugs today my friend!
ReplyDeletePicturing her with Joe. That's exactly what I thought of when I read this on FB last evening. ((((Hugs))))
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to say goodbye to the pets we have loved so much. Hugs to you and I'm glad you picture Lucy with Joe:)
ReplyDeleteI’m so sorry Terri but I’m glad she’s not suffering.
ReplyDeleteTerri, you've been in my thoughts all day. What an unselfish, loving gift you gave your Diva girl. I like the notion of her being a 'daddy's girl' once more. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAgree with you on that "no worries" and "new normal".
ReplyDeleteI was so sad when I read about Lucy. I know how hard it is to lose a pet. You gave her a good life for all those years.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your kitty Terri. Parting with our pets is sooo hard, even when we know it's the kindest thing to do. Staying healthy is a good thing to strive for and like many others have said I don't think we're going to get our old normal back. We will have to adapt and get used to how things are now and hope they improve soon. Hugs to you.
