Happy Thursday! I am linking up with Rebecca Jo, over at Knit by God's Hand, for her Thankful Thursday!! Join us HERE!
I always have so many things to be thankful for. First, I need to mention that yesterday was Son#1's birthday. I am so blessed to have Joey and Jeff in my life. They were 20 and 16 when Joe and I started dating. I always say I got my boys the easy way - I married their dad. They are my 'boys' though as if they carried my blood. I love them that much!!
Last night, we got to enjoy an evening out with our old neighbors!! Mark is the General Manager at our local Hilton Garden Inn, which is at the airport. This week happens to be Lakeland's big Sun 'n Fun Fly-in, so things are hopping out there. Michele asked me yesterday morning if Joe and I wanted to join them on the roof-top for a prime-rib buffet and the evening air show. Well, we would be silly to say no to that, don't you think? I was more excited about seeing them, and Bob & Ginny (our other old neighbors were also invited) than I was about the food or the airshow! FUN!!! So thankful for good friends who were also our good neighbors on Hillman Lane. Here are some pictures!!
Carly, Michele and Mark
The rooftop buffet ready for action!
A view of the airport (way over there) from the Hilton's rooftop.
Bob and Ginny (they cared for our cats and we always cared for theirs).
A plate that was WAY too full (and didn't all get eaten).
The evening sky was beautiful.
Can you see the parachute coming down? They put on quite a show for us.
Then two planes did all kinds of tricks. They get SO close. Scary.
We left before the fireworks but the sunset was awfully pretty.
I'm thankful that you came by my blog!! What are you thankful for today? Peace & hugs.

Thankful for your friendship, and thankful I can come here every morning and see your pretty pictures and daily events.
ReplyDeleteThat looks so delightful! So happy that you are now enjoying your new home, and even enjoying "old friends" and family. Yes, much to be thankful for. Thank you for letting us enjoy the show with you!!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter works in the aviation industry and was at that show last year! How funny that you mentioned it.
ReplyDeleteVicki, that sounds like a great reason to meet up in Lakeland next year at about this time!! :)
DeleteAwesome....I don't know how y'all do it, being in the 80* weather.{{{giggling}}}
ReplyDeletePardon the pun but isn't it nice to have friends in high places??? Looks like a fun evening!! And I am glad to hear that you and your sons are all about LOVE. I have two bonus grandsons and I am working to have that kind of relationship with them as well.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen an airshow. Looks like fun. I'm glad you had a nice time.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Sounds like a great evening..... yummy!
ReplyDeleteAir shows freak me out... dont know why. I'm just not someone who likes planes in general.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to the Son!
Happy belated birthday to Joey!
ReplyDeleteSmall world ... the fellow I was seeing prior to meeting Tom used to work at the Lakeland airport. That spread-with-a-view Mark put on sounds wonderful!
I agree! It would have been silly to pass up time with old friends, food and such an entertaining show to boot. Looks like fun to me and too bad you couldn't eat all the food. Happy birthday to Joey. I love your sweet relationship with Joe's kids and that you made them yours. I love that they made you theirs as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day! Thank you for sharing the pictures with us. It all looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had an awesome day!! :)
