Weekend Recap on Tuesday.....

There really isn't a lot to tell. We had a very quiet weekend, even though fireworks have been going off non-stop for three days.  There is a reason fireworks are illegal in some states (not in Florida). I feel bad for all the animals and people who have a hard time handling the noise of firecrackers and missiles.

Aside from that, I got to sleep in all three days!! Luxury!! Joe and I got a few small projects taken care of.  We have actually begun to "clean out" here and there.  Just thinking about moving and downsizing is scary. We decided to get rid of a piece of furniture we've had forever and have started a box of things to either donate or put in a garage sale. Joe keeps talking garage sale. Sigh. I really hate garage sales, but it seems there will be one in our future.  Mind you, the house isn't for sale yet. Maybe in the late fall.....

Helen and her niece Cheryl invited us for a mid-day meal yesterday, to celebrate the holiday. I made a peach cobbler that turned out okay and was appreciated, I think. Helen and Cheryl had pulled pork, potato salad, macaroni salad, mac & cheese, fresh fruit, and rolls. All very good. They also invited two ladies from their church to join us, so we had quite the party and Joe was the only man! LOL

Our son, Joey and DIL Darlene (and the grandpups) will be here Thursday this week and can stay until Sunday.  It will be good to see them again so soon!  I'm going to try to take Friday off, if I can arrange it, so we can find something fun to do out and about.

Back to work today, and the auditors are coming this week to do some "pre-audit" work. It will be a bit busy, but this is my 19th audit at the Museum.  It's not a worry - just a bother.

Thanks for your visit!!  Peace & hugs.

  1. I like your new look here, Terri. We were discussing about moving--buying a house--been out looking and the task of moving-packing is quite daunting...I sure don't envy you. {smiles}

    Have a joyful day, Terri.

  2. Oh I remember those audits from when I worked at the Natural History Museum. Even worse when I worked for the city government.

Sounds like a fun weekend for you. Glad you were able to get together with family and friends.

  3. I am behind....moving??? where? when? retire? when? I know you have been looking forward to that, but is it sooner than later? Our weekend was quiet, nothing going on except the sound of the fireworks outside. We are old 'foggies' (sp) now I guess, we dont even go out to watch from the porch. Hope your day back at work isnt too bad.

    1. Downsizing to something without a pool and big yard - hopefully after the first of the year. No realtor involved yet. Retiring at the end of March, hopefully. Several "depends" but that is my target. Praying for a smooth transition between selling and buying. The timing will make the difference between stressed out and not stressed out! LOL

  4. I hate garage sales too Terri. Are you planning to stay in your area but just move to a smaller house? We downsized to move here but I have re accumulated things. I will use some of them in the Little House. You do have a big change ahead of you but you are up to it.

    1. Yes, Arlene, we will stay in Lakeland. We are looking at a 55+ community that we believe will be perfect for us and we know a few folks who live there. These are block homes, single family stand-alones. All outside maintenance (including the roof!) is included in the HOA, which is very affordable. If we have a mortgage, it will be a little one. We just have to get the timing right!! Praying about it daily!!

  5. I am so over hearing fireworks myself.
I will say, it usually bothers my dogs, but I think in their old age, their hearing is drifting - which I'm glad to see them not as scared as usual. Because it was NON STOP all weekend long!

  7. I think you needed a low-key weekend. I don't like having garage sales either. Hope you have a great Tuesday.

  8. I feel as though I'm in constant downsize mode. It's not all bad...living more simply can truly be a blessing in many ways. I love going to garage sales but hate hosting them. I never make enough money to make it worth all the work. I hope you do well with yours.

  9. Oh, I loathe garage sales! I'd be afraid someone would ask to use our bathroom and I'd have to a) be the Bad Lady, or b) worry about them trying to steal something. (Imagination gone awry, lol.)

  10. Moving is a lot of work, and I am not a fan of having garage sales either. It will all work out though!
I had to work this weekend, and there have been lots of people in the area shooting off fireworks. Then last night I got called to come in at 3am, so between fireworks and getting up at 2, I'm kind of sleep deprived!
Hope the audit is done quickly!

  11. The fireworks are not illegal here either. Our poor grand-puppies have cried long and loud each night all weekend long. They do not like the fireworks one bit. I like to look at fireworks but don't care for the noise at all.

The lunch with your friend sounds wonderful. I love peach cobbler. :)

Have a great week. I hope all goes well with the audit.

  12. Fireworks are illegal here but that doesn't stop all the tourists from shooting them off all thru the night all weekend. Ugh.
Hope your pre-audit goes well. Have a great day!

  13. I believe that there is a cut off time of 10pm for fireworks here but a lot of people don't seem to have clocks! I'm glad you had a peaceful weekend. We talk about downsizing from time to time but it won't happen just yet (especially given the current uncertainty in the UK). I hope your plans work out.

  14. I'm doing an absolutely terrible job of keeping up with blogs. This is the first I heard you mention putting your house up for sale. Now I'll have to go back and see what I've missed!
