Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 272

1. How did you welcome the month of July, and tell us one fun thing you did to celebrate the 4th. (or the weekend for any non-USA residents playing along today).  We welcomed July by being lazy and doing a whole lot of nothing! It was wonderful!  Our friends had us over for a holiday lunch on Monday, which we enjoyed.

2. Right now..what's your favorite red thing?  Probably a pair of red earrings.  white thing?  I guess my white sneakers. Comfortable!  blue thing?  I have on my favorite pair of navy slacks, so I'll go with that.

3. Wave the white flag, raise a red flag, fly your freak flag...which 'flag' have you flown most recently?  I haven't really raised any of those.  Explain. I rarely surrender (haha); nothing has required a red flag, at work or at home;  and I don't even own a freak flag (I don't think!).  What is a freak flag?  LOL

4. According to Conde Nast Traveler these are the seven best places to visit in July-

a boat safari in Botswanna's Okavango Delta, Riviera Maya Mexico (it's whale shark season and apparently you can swim with them), Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, Pamploma Spain, St. Petersburg Russia, the Fuji Rock Festival at Mount Naeba Japan, the Salzburg Festival in Salzburg Austria

If time and money weren't factors would you want to see any/all of these? Which would you most like to see and why?  The only one that holds any interest for me would be Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, but not enough to spend my money there rather than on a trip to Italy, Ireland, Scotland or Germany.

5. Grilled cheese, pimento cheese, or mac and cheese...your favorite from the cheesy treats listed?   Definitely mac and cheese, but I do enjoy grilled cheese and pimento cheese.  If cheese is in the recipe, it must be good!  LOL

6. What makes you sweat?  I live in Florida. Even with the AC set on 75° housework still makes you sweat.  Just moving, inside or out here in Florida during the summer months can make you sweat.

7. Your favorite movie with a 'patriotic' theme of some sort?  The Patriot; Independence Day; then there is James Cagney in Yankee Doodle Boy....born on the 4th of July!

8. Insert your own random thought here.  As mentioned yesterday, our son and daughter-in-law will be here on Thursday through Sunday.  I asked for Friday off and got it.  Another 3-day weekend works for me!! Looking forward to their visit! I need to get the guest room ready and we'll have to make a grocery run, but plenty of time for both.

Thanks for your visit today!!  Peace & hugs.

Texas is as you describe Florida. It is just too hot.

  3. Those lazy days at home are always great. Too many people trying to do the events and things out there to suit us. We prefer to stay at home, too.

  5. I don't miss that Florida heat! I lived in FL for 15 years and worked as a project manager on construction sites with no AC. Folks always said "you'll get use to it", I never did. I now live in the mountains, it still gets hot; but even in July we still have cool mornings and it's beautifully cool after sunset. Lovin' it!
    Cheers,
    Lori in Blue Ridge, GA

  8. Woo-Hoo, glad you got your day off Friday to spend with arriving family. The only one of the places listed that I would enjoy visiting would be Salzburg Festival in Salzburg Austria. Humidity is a killer and makes me sweat. Have a good Wednesday dear friend.

  11. This is really turning into a family summer for you! You've got to try Palmetto Cheese. I had some on the 4th and I don't think I'll ever eat any other kind! It's better than my dad's homemade, but don't tell him I said that. LOL

  14. Oh boy, do I remember those summer days in Florida! I went through my first pregnancy there. Whew. I forgot to turn the AC back down when I left work one night and when we came back in the morning the windows were FROSTED over! Oops!

Cheese is like bacon...it goes with everything and makes everything better. LOL

Have a great visit with your family.

  20. We didn't do much on the 4th of July either. We were probably gonna grill some animal flesh in any event. Staying comfortably cool is difficult when it's so hot and humid up here in the Granite State. Thankfully it doesn't last too long. I hope you are able to stay cool where you live where it has to be more difficult to do so. Take care and...until next week.
