Friday Foto Friends.....

Joining Deb at Breathing In Grace for her Friday Foto Friends Link-up!

Joe and I went out for Chinese food last night.  The restaurant we went to is right across the street from Lakeland's Southgate Shopping Center.  Publix is the anchor.  It dawned on me that this would make a good set of photos to share with you.  Not because I want you to see a shopping center, but to let you know that this is where part of Edward Scissorhands was filmed!!  It was an exciting time for Lakeland and for all the young girls who wanted to get a glimpse of Johnny Depp.  This LINK about the film's locations actually mentions Lakeland and there is a better photo of the Southgate arch.

The photo below is the center of the shopping center and is where the "beauty shop" was located, where Edward was seduced.  A fun fact is that the beauty shop was really a barber shop owned by my barber's dad!!  Keith was Joe's barber for years and years, but he retired a couple of years ago.  Teena is Keith's daughter and she cuts my hair and Joe's!  (She reads my blogs - hi Teena!)  The barber shop is in a different location now.  This location became a wine shop (I think). I'm not sure what is there now since we don't shop anywhere but Publix at one end and the hardware store at the other end of the center.

So happy that Friday is here!  Thanks for stopping by today!  Peace & hugs.

  9. Gee, we saw that movie ages ago, but it was very strange to me. That's cool that you shared those interesting facts with us. Funny how everybody goes crazy when a celebrity visits their town. I remember when Burt Reynolds was making a movie in our office building. We all had to go have a look and I remember being disappointed in Jill Clayburgh because she just looked like any of the rest of us.

  10. Enjoyed seeing the center and glad you got out for dinner. We dont go out any longer due to Jim's health, and I miss it, but am thankful for all other things I do have. Hope you have a nice weekend...

  13. That arch is attractive. We shopped at Publix when we lived in Florida. It's a great store.
