Tuesday, July 2nd....
Today is my BFF's birthday! Happy birthday, Elaine, and you are officially older than me for the next six months!!! (Snickering as I wrote that! It's a standing joke between us.)
Work is work, but we have a young lady, named Leah, who is volunteering for our summer art camp this week. She is selling brownies to help raise money for a mission trip to the Dominican Republic later this summer. I didn't want the brownies, but gave her a donation to help her toward the rest of the money she needs to raise. Her group will be working with children in the slums. She asked me to pray for her, and I told her I would. I also asked if I could take her picture, with the promise that I would ask my friends to also pray for her. She gave me a huge smile. So, here she is, and I'm asking you to add her to your prayer lists, please.
I had my facial tonight, after work, which is always wonderful. So relaxing. Came home to subs and chips (if you haven't figured it out by now, the diet is kaput - again). Joe and Tristan picked them up at JJ's. Yum.
Tomorrow night we will go out for Mexican food, and then to the grocery for things we need for our cook-out on Thursday (July 4th). Helen and her niece, Cheryl, are coming, and so is our friend (and my coworker) Gregory. There will be six of us for burgers and all the usual summer holiday fixins, including watermelon. Yum again. Only sorry Joey and Darlene won't be here with us.
Hope your Tuesday was a good one, and I wish you a good Wednesday. Thanks for reading my post tonight! Peace, love & hugs.

I will happily pray for this young lady and the mission trip ahead. Our Youth are also getting ready to leave, so understand her trying to get money raised. We have had to cancel any plans for the 4th as severe storms are headed our way, starting tomorrow. So I will stay inside and read, compute and nap! Sleep well dear friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the prayers, for Leah. I'll let her know today that she has some prayer warriors behind her. I will keep your youth group in my prayers. Sorry about the bad weather. We've had rain every day here, too.
DeleteNot having to cook after work is so nice. I love subs except I call them hoagies. lol We had them over the weekend for dinner.
ReplyDeleteWe used to call them hoagies, too, but down here (in the south) they are subs... they still taste the same, no matter the name! :)
DeleteDiets aren't all they are cracked up to be. Does that help?
ReplyDeleteSandie, it helps me to procrastinate more, but it doesn't help me stop eating too much. Sigh.
DeleteGod bless that young lady and her group for taking on this remarkable job. I hope your holiday is a good one. Friends, family and watermelon... what more could you ask for. lol
ReplyDeleteI know I'm behind on people's posts, but am working time and three quarters or so this week and in this heat!
ReplyDeleteHope everybody has a good 4th of July. Hope I can make it to the Chinese. Will keep that wonderful young lady in my prayers too.
